### 3/5 — Good up until the fees

*2026-09-08, version 4.3.1*

Solid app for tracking workouts. However, it lost its place when it put the entire functionality of the app behind a paywall. Sure, paywall certain features, but putting the entire app behind a $12/month pay wall is out of hand and greedy. Sometimes people want to improve their health and fitness but don’t necessarily have the financial means available to do so regularly. The paywall adds another hindrance to people achieving their goals

### 4/5 — Great but could be better

*2026-08-27, version 4.3.0*

I’ve been using this app for years and love it. I am not aware of any way to make suggestions to features of the app which I think would be wonderful. For example I would suggest the option to mark multiple workouts as “super sets”. I would also appreciate the ability to mark single leg/arm sets as left and right leg/arm. Other than that I’ve had no issues with the app.

### 1/5 — App is subscription-only now

*2026-08-21, version 4.3.0*

App used to be perfect with the free features alone. Now you can't even access the base workout without paying. Way to screw it up. Deleted app already.

### 2/5 — Can’t use it anymore

*2026-08-17, version 4.3.0*

I used this app for +5 years. I tried recently and I couldn’t login without paying for a subscription. I started the trial but all my progress and history is lost so I decided to delete it and use another one.

### 1/5 — USED to be good, paywalled everything

*2026-08-16, version 4.3.0*

I’ve been using this app since 2016. It used to be completely free and was very simple but worked well. Over the years they have added some features like being able to modify your workouts away from 5x5.
When they introduced the premium version, I was given what they called “lifetime power pack” which gave me the ability to still access the normal features of the app like warm-up sets and being able to change sets/rep ranges.

As of June 2026, they have paywalled almost the entire app at a price of $80 a year!!! Insane price if you ask me for an app that simply tracks your workouts.
You can no longer manipulate workouts for free or use the warm-up set feature, nor even see the plates to put on each side of your bar.

I will be moving on to one of the many free options available. Sad to see for an app I used to love.

### 2/5 — Frustratingly inconsistent and buggy on Apple Watch

*2026-08-14, version 4.3.0*

Great features and functionality but super inconsistent and buggy on the Apple Watch.

### 1/5 — Unable to restore previous purchase

*2026-08-14, version 4.3.0*

Subscription popups give early 2000’s internet vibes. If your product isn’t worth paying for, move on, don’t scam people.

### 1/5 — Removed 'lifetime' features

*2026-08-13, version 4.3.0*

As an early supporter of the app, I paid for 'lifetime' pro membership on both Android and iOS. These features have since been locked behind a subscription with no explanation. Poor business ethics. I would rather subscribe to Strong or Hevy than support this app and developer after this.

### 3/5 — Aggressive subscription enrolment

*2026-08-13, version 4.3.0*

Been using this workout/app since 2016. Excellent workout, so much so I bought a lifetime pass/subscription (no longer offered). Lately the app will either bring up a subscription enrolment screen every time the app is opened, or block you from going to your workout with out purchasing a subscription. I have to enroll so I can do the workout, then request a refund explaining I already have the lifetime pass.

### 1/5 — Greedy and lame

*2026-08-12, version 4.3.0*

I used to use this app all the time. I decided I wanted to get back i to fitness. It’s a shame they want to charge you money and track you to use the app now. At least the program itself is free online and very comprehensive. I recommend doing that instead of spending money on this.

### 1/5 — Stole $10 from me

*2026-08-10, version 4.3.0*

I bought a lifetime membership years ago. I tried logging in the other day, and now I’m completely paywalled. No option to use the app at all unless I pay for a subscription.

### 1/5 — Paid feature removed and not honored

*2026-08-10, version 4.3.0*

I purchased the Power Pack as a one-time purchase with the understanding that its features were mine to keep. StrongLifts has now deliberately ended support for it and placed those same features behind a recurring subscription. Restore Purchases does nothing—not because of a technical problem, but because the company has decided to stop honoring the purchase.

It doesn’t matter how long ago I bought it or how little it originally cost. A one-time purchase should not expire simply because the developer wants customers to start paying annually. Taking away previously purchased functionality destroys trust, and I won’t pay again for features I already bought.

### 1/5 — Change after buying

*2026-08-08, version 4.3.0*

I purchased this program when it was $5 and it was starting out. I took a break for several years and decided to start back. The restore button does not work and wants me to pay for what I already paid for. It’s just a calculator. Don’t buy.

### 1/5 — Scammer

*2026-08-07, version 4.3.0*

Sold lifetime purchases then switched to subscription to even access the data I had since 2014.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2026-09-08, version 4.3.1*

Deceptive. Free download. Makes you fill out a questionnaire to build your plan, then hits you with a pay wall.

### 1/5 — Dishonest developer

*2026-09-06, version 4.3.1*

Paid $10 for features that were promised for lifetime of the app. Developer has now changed their minds and I’ve lost access to what a paid for. Stay away from this app.

### 1/5 — terrible direction

*2026-09-05, version 4.3.1*

i’ve used stronglifts for 2 years and it’s been great. unfortunately, pro has become more expensive, the lifetime option has been removed, and people are being blocked behind a paywall. i’ve exported my data and recommend others do the same

### 1/5 — Subscription fee is ridiculous

*2026-09-05, version 4.3.1*

This was the best free app until they made it required to pay to use it.

### 1/5 — Fan for years - no longer

*2026-09-04, version 4.3.1*

Forcing a paid only model without notice and losing all historic data is really poor. End of the line.

### 1/5 — “Lifetime Membership” Apparently not 👎

*2026-09-04, version 4.3.1*

Much like the other recent 1 star reviews left recently… Paid for a ‘lifetime membership’ back in 2018. Went to the gym today to find I can’t access my workouts and have to ‘upgrade’ to a paid monthly subscription. This came without any warning. What an absolute joke. After reading the reviews to see what happened, I just deleted all my data. Time to vibecode my own version!

### 1/5 — Was great until Mehdi stole from everyone

*2026-09-03, version 4.3.1*

I loved this app. It was one of the few apps I paid to support. I bought the “lifetime” power pack just to show support for what Mehdi was doing. Then last year he took my money and ran to a full subscription model. Instead of coming up with novel features to generate revenue he just said he didn’t care about past supporters and walked with our money. You can’t use any features unless you buy a monthly subscription now. Classic bait and switch. I’m moving to a more ethical lifting app.

### 1/5 — Used to be good

*2026-08-31, version 4.3.0*

This used to be a decent app, tracked things well and you could use it. Then they started asking for money and the subscription isn’t worth it - promise of new things, they don’t come. You have to pay for features you aren’t going to use. On top of that - the amount you need to pay doesn’t come close to having the “value” they think it does. Too bad - I really enjoyed it and used to recommend it to people. Now it’s just a money grab.

### 1/5 — Glorified Spreadsheet

*2026-08-31, version 4.3.0*

Used this app for years as a free member now I am completely locked out. How is a glorified spreadsheet justify a subscription fee? Deleting immediately.

### 1/5 — Absolutely no free plan anymore

*2026-08-28, version 4.3.0*

Free to download, never free to use, they used to have a free tier, now it is gone and I’m locked out of my years of data, thanks for nothing. Good thing there are plenty of other free apps out there.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good ggood

*2026-09-06, version 4.3.1*

Good.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-09-05, version 4.3.1*

Great app

### 5/5 — Still the best app

*2026-08-31, version 4.3.0*

A few weeks ago I got back into serious routine of strength training. I’m 9 weeks in, this app is amazing and gets me back in shape the quickest. I’m so excited I got the lifetime membership.

### 5/5 — Long time user - love it.

*2026-08-22, version 4.3.0*

Keeps getting better.

### 5/5 — Essential Workout App

*2026-08-13, version 4.3.0*

My go to for weight training from start to plateau to the next levels. I always progress in my training so much more fluidly when I’m just following the program. Love the changeability of it too.

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-08-11, version 4.3.0*

So good, such an easy on the eyes interface. And now I can modify my workouts, add exercises, quick instruction videos all WITHOUT feeling like I’m staring at the phone during the workouts. That’s the winner right there!

### 5/5 — Spot on!

*2026-08-03, version 4.3.0*

Fantastic lay-out and structure. Takes the guessing out of what to do, when to do it and how much you get done. Perfect? Of course not..what is? For structured, sensible workouts though, this is about as close as I’ve seen. Been using for 11months. For me, worth every.single.penny.
Thank you!

### 5/5 — Awesome training App

*2026-08-03, version 4.3.0*

I ve used this App for over 11 years. Although I have tried other training Apps, I always seem to come back to this one. Great core exercises, and now with the extras I can add additional exercises to my routines. Love it. 👍🏻

### 5/5 — Lifetime Membership No Longer Honored

*2026-07-28, version 4.3.0*

★☆☆☆☆

UPDATE: StrongLifts restored the features included with my original Lifetime Membership. Thank you for honoring the lifetime purchase.

——

Thank you for resolving the issue and, most importantly, for upholding what was promised when I purchased the Lifetime Membership. I appreciate that my original lifetime access has been honored.

I purchased the StrongLifts Lifetime Membership approximately three years ago through Google Play as a one-time purchase. After switching from Android to iPhone, my lifetime purchase transferred successfully using the same account.

Recently, I discovered that several features that were previously available to me, including Plate Count, the Warm-Up section, creating custom workout plans, and updating sets, are now locked behind a recurring subscription.

As a lifetime member, I purchased the app specifically to avoid ongoing subscription fees. Moving features that were previously included behind a paywall significantly reduces the value of what I originally paid for.

I contacted support twice to ask for clarification and to have my lifetime membership honored, but I have not received a response.

This experience has caused me to lose trust in the company. When customers pay for a lifetime membership, they expect the features included with that purchase to remain available. Removing or restricting those features years later raises serious concerns about the company’s commitment to its customers and the integrity of its lifetime offering.

I would be happy to update this review if the company responds and resolves the issue.

### 5/5 — Pure Awesome

*2026-07-28, version 4.3.0*

Great way to improve strength and working out with weights, helps you build a routine and to get stronger every day :D
