## What is Strophe?

Learn a song, a poem, or a speech by heart — one line at a time.

Strophe is a prompter for memorizing text word for word. Paste in the lyrics you're learning, or pick a piece from the built-in library, and practice it the way you'd actually perform it: line by line, in order, start to finish.

RECALL BEFORE YOU SEE

Strophe shows you nothing to begin with. You try to remember the first line, then tap to reveal it and check yourself. Tap again for the next. Nothing is on screen that you haven't already earned — a prompter that shows you the line first isn't an easier setting, it's no exercise at all.

BE HONEST ABOUT THE HARD ONES

Fumbled a line? Mark it shaky or missed. The walk doesn't rush on: you get a moment to work out what comes next, because the moment you admit you missed a line is the moment you've just read the correct one.

IT DECIDES WHEN YOU PRACTICE

At the end of a run, Strophe reads your line-by-line verdicts and schedules the next session — using FSRS, the same spaced-repetition algorithm serious memorizers use. Pieces you know come back rarely. Pieces you're still learning come back soon. You can always overrule it.

BUILT FOR WHOLE PIECES

A song is not a stack of flashcards. Strophe never shuffles your lines or drills them out of order, because the order is the thing you're learning. Verses, stanza breaks and section markers stay where they belong. Paste a long speech and it can split it into clause-length lines you can actually hold.

NO STREAKS, NO BADGES, NO NAGGING

One reminder a day at an hour you choose, and nothing else. No points, no congratulation, no pressure to come back. The session summary tells you what happened and what's next — that's all.

FOUR PIECES TO START

Kipling's If—, Henley's Invictus, Ehrmann's Desiderata, and Donne's "No man is an island." Every one taken from an archival source, word for word, and read in full before it shipped. Add your own by pasting them in.

IPHONE, IPAD AND MAC

Practice on your phone, or put your Mac on the music stand. Your pieces and your progress sync over iCloud.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

No account. No tracking. No ads. Your texts stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.
