## What is Stubbd?

You've tried before. Most people quit smoking on their sixth try — that isn't failure, it's how the brain learns.

Stubbd is the app for the long view. It shows you where you are in your brain's dopamine recovery, times every craving against the 5-minute half-life in your biology, and treats every attempt as data, not shame.

Day 1 is withdrawal. Day 90 is chemistry reset. Year 1 is heart-attack risk halved. You won't reach those moments without a tool that's still open when you do. This is that tool.
No streaks to shame. No willpower theater. No promises we can't keep.

WHAT'S INSIDE
· Brain healing timeline — From Day 0 to Year 5. Withdrawal peaks on Day 3. Chemistry resets at Day 90. Heart-attack risk halves by Year 1. A warm dot tracks your day on the curve.
· Craving timer — A 5-minute circle, designed around the research half-life of a craving. Tap on the way in. Breathe through it. Rate on the way out, so the next one isn't a surprise.
· AI coach — Trained on your profile and your recent cravings. Warm. Direct. Never uses the words "fail" or "willpower". Routes medical questions to a healthcare provider. Always routes crisis language to a crisis line.
· Savings counter — Money saved. Cigarettes not smoked. Minutes of life regained — eleven per cigarette, the CDC number.
· Relapse-as-data — Slips become learning toward the next attempt, not shame about the last one. Honest about the average six-try journey.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT
Most quit-smoking apps stop the moment you quit. Stubbd is the app you keep open after. The brain-healing timeline is built for the year ahead. The AI coach learns who you are. The craving timer is there for the 5-minute window when everything else isn't.

THE METHOD
Stubbd is built around the six behaviour-change techniques cessation research identifies as effective: goal setting, self-monitoring, feedback, prompts, rewards, and social support. Each maps to a specific Stubbd mechanic — feedback is the timeline, self-monitoring is the timer, the coach handles goal setting, the counter is the reward layer. We measure ourselves on Day-90 retention — whether you still don't smoke ninety days in — not minutes spent inside the app.

The app gets quieter as you heal: heavy support in week 1, weekly check-ins by month 3, a whisper by year 2.

Every plan unlocks the full app — no feature gating, no upsell ladders.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3 — 2026-08-03

Your quit plan just got more personal.

• A reworked start: tell us about yourself and get a short personal reading before choosing your quit date
• Name your triggers and build an if-then coping plan for each one
• Your coping plans now follow you into the craving timer and coach conversations — your own advice, right when you need it
• Bug fixes and performance improvements

### 2.2 — 2026-07-30

# Stubbd 2.2

Mostly a plumbing release: we now keep the answers you give during onboarding
even if you don't subscribe. One thing did change on screen — see below.

## New

- **You can back out of the paywall.** The final onboarding screen now has a
back arrow, like every other step, so you can return to your plan and change
an answer instead of being stuck. Subscribing is still required to get into
the app — the back arrow goes backwards, not past it.

## Improved

- **Your onboarding answers are saved as soon as your plan appears.** Until
now, everything you told us — how long you've smoked, what a pack costs, your
triggers, your quit date — was only stored on the phone and only sent to your
account after a purchase. It's now saved to your account at the plan screen.
You won't see anything happen, and that's the point: no spinner, no message,
and Continue must stay instant even with no signal.

## Please test

1. **The paywall back arrow, on iPhone and iPad.** Tap it, change your quit
date, come forward again. The paywall layout also sits slightly lower to
make room for the arrow — confirm nothing is clipped or crowded, in light
   and dark appearance.
2. **Purchase and restore.** Both are meant to be completely unchanged. Buy,
and confirm you land in the app with your details intact.
3. **Plan screen on a bad connection.** Turn on Airplane Mode at the plan
screen and tap Continue. It should be as fast as always and show no error.
4. **Backgrounding the paywall.** Swipe to the home screen from the paywall and
come back — you should return exactly where you were.

This release adds a new server function and writes your answers to your
existing profile. Nothing is removed or renamed; older builds are unaffected.

### 2.1 — 2026-07-30

A rebuilt Home, a new Journey tab, a reworked craving timer, and a new paywall
we're testing.

New:
- Three-step paywall. Some of you will see the subscription screen split
into three steps — what you get, how the free trial works, then pick a
plan — with a timeline showing the real dates your trial starts and
  ends. Others keep the single-screen version. Both are intentional;
  you're assigned one automatically.
- Trial reminder. You can ask to be reminded the day before billing
starts. If you've declined notifications, the screen says so rather
than promising a reminder it can't send.
- Your journey tab — pulsing brain map, day-by-day health beats,
progress charts, and "I slipped" reachable from anywhere.
- Craving timer, rebuilt around the research: interactive modes, your
personal "Why", and a new "Trace the light" exercise.
- First-48-hours milestones. Early healing beats (20 minutes, 8 hours)
now arrive as notifications, anchored to when you actually stopped.
- Preparation is now opt-in. Quit date defaults to today; pick a later
one and you get a countdown plus projected first-year savings.
- Camera + Coach. Ceremony photo, photo attachments in Coach, and Coach
can now search the web — confirming any change before it makes it.

Improved:
- Home leads with momentum: live streak timer, three-column stats,
savings that move on day one, pull to refresh.
- Coach moved to the second tab slot; onboarding is two screens shorter.
- The widget's streak timer runs continuously and matches Home.

Fixed:
- Home no longer scrolls diagonally.
- The streak clock resets correctly on a slip or a quit-date edit.
- Coach action chips render again, and a reply survives backgrounding.
- Pending purchases (Ask to Buy) are no longer shown as failures.

### 2.0 — 2026-07-08

The moments that make or break a quit — handled.
- Craving timer, rebuilt. When an urge hits, ride it out with a guided timer, or pivot to another way through — including a new Trace the light exercise to pull your focus somewhere calmer. Shaped around what actually helps a craving pass.
- A Home screen that proves it's working. Your momentum at a glance — money saved, time reclaimed, and the next milestone just ahead — so the progress you can't feel yet is right in front of you.
- Your journey, clearer. A living map of your body healing, day by day.
- Wins from minute one. New healing milestones in your first 48 hours, with gentle reminders, so the progress starts immediately — not weeks in.
- Every craving you pass is proof. This update makes it impossible to miss.

### 1.9.1 — 2026-06-10

This update is about your first minutes — and your first hours.
• A shorter, more personal start. Onboarding is quicker, and your plan is built around your triggers from the very first screen.
• Your numbers move from hour one. Money saved, cigarettes not smoked, and time of life regained now start counting the moment you quit — not the next day.
• See where your plan takes you. A clear look at the road ahead, from your first clean month to benefits at one year.
• Your coach is one tap closer, with a fresh look in the tab bar.
• Smoother, more reliable purchases — including cards that need an extra step of bank approval.
• Fixes and polish across Home and Settings.
