## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Crash when upgrade

*2017-06-09, version 4.1*

Can never unlock all topic

### 1/5 — Pretty but confusing

*2013-07-13*

Not the most obvious of controls and the romanization and grammar frequently incorrect even in the first "game".

### 1/5 — Useless

*2013-05-12, version 2.0*

A useless app unless you are only interested in trying to pick up women using bad Cantonese. A waste of time for the serious student.

### 1/5 — 點解全都關於性的？

*2013-05-06, version 2.0*

好好地做個學粵語軟體很難嗎

### 1/5 — Not much to it

*2013-02-26*

It's weird to use. Nice graphics but notice in conversations. Guy and girl just repeat after each other. Would not recommend for learning.

### 1/5 — Nice pictures

*2013-01-08*

Great graphics, but not very effective in learning. There are a lot of repeats in the conversation that can help you remember the sentences, but it does not enough vocabulary to be effective in actually learning the language. Besides that same male character is always with a new female character haha quite a player.

### 2/5 — Narrow audience

*2014-03-19*

While I liked the concept and that this gives you "points" for completing a conversation correctly, this app is aimed at guys, specifically those traveling to Cantonese speaking regions for dating. As a married woman trying to learn conversational Cantonese to communicate with my husband and his family this app was useless. I wish they had a version where you could just talk to people instead of making this a cross between a language app and a dating game app.

### 3/5 — Not bad...

*2013-01-21, version 1.6.0*

I quite like this app, although as a married female the lessons aren't great. I've only played the free lesson, but it seems most of the other subjects are similar. Basically, you are a young guy complimenting girls on how cute/beautiful they are...! That being said, I'm tempted to buy the other lessons anyway, as I like how the app works and did learn some new phrases. I like that it tests your listening skills and breaks the Honzi up into separate words so you can see what the characters mean. Would love to see some family scenarios though! Also, a jyutping romanization option would be a HUGE bonus!

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2013-01-31, version 1.6.0*

Great app! Only been using it a few days now but I've learnt so much from it. To be fair, I already speak Mandarin, so I can pick up Cantonese relatively easily and I don't know how this app would be for people with no background in Chinese, but for me it's perfect.

Cartoons are cute, dialogs are interesting and funny. Yes, there's stuff you won't learn through this app, but it doesn't claim to be a comprehensive in-depth Cantonese course. What it will do is build up your confidence, give you a fun environment to learn in, and teach you more conversational/fun Cantonese.

There are a couple of issues though; I've noticed a couple of mismatched translations, so they should check more thoroughly. Also, despite buying the full app on my iPad, it still shows up as unpurchased on my iPhone which is a bit annoying. Small problems in the grand scheme of things though, and generally very happy.

### 5/5 — Poop

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simply amazing

*2013-07-04*

thanks! this is great. it would be great if you could also make some for European languages such as Spanish! btw is there a plot? It would be amazing if there was one. anyway, thanks!

### 5/5 — Fanstastic

*2013-04-03*

This awesome is fantastic! I love the graphics, sequencing, repetition algorhythm, graphics, etc. It's better than all the other apps I've tried for Cantonese by far, at least in the context of the situations presented. I even like that the prompting text is a smaller font - I'm tired of every app who chooses to display text oversized. It would only be helpful if there was a vocablualry list somewhere, or a list of the words learned in the program to a certain point. Or is this there?

### 5/5 — I Love this app

*2013-04-01*

There isn't really much to say other than thank you to the developers. It's clean, pronunciations are great and it's fun to play. Of course with all games an applications there is need for the improvement, but this one delivers on what it promises. Thanks guys, love the work.

### 5/5 — All for the price of a pint!

*2012-11-11, version 1.3.3*

Hundreds of phrases for the cost of a drink. This app is great. I find it better than language exchange because the app remembers what you got right and times repeats for you. So I'm not taking notes all the time, worried about remembering all the new phrases when learning from a person. My only criticism is that it needs a better help system.

Other than that I really quite pleased and helps the intermediate speaker to phrase things even better!

### 5/5 — Useful app

*2012-11-03*

The presentation of this app is gorgeous with the graphics and real audio from native voice actors.

I'm a frequent traveler and was looking for an app to teach me some basic conversational phrases.

This App is not a complete language learning resource like a textbook but it was perfect for my goals. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to have conversations or to supplement their other studying resources.

### 5/5 — This is cute

*2012-11-01, version 1.3.3*

haha, this app is cute.
