## What is StudyIn?

StudyIn is an SAT/ACT app blocker designed specifically for students preparing for the Digital SAT/ACT. Block distracting apps like TikTok and Instagram, study, then pass Math or Reading & Writing questions to earn your screen time back. Unlike ordinary screen-time blockers, StudyIn combines app blocking with exam-specific questions, adaptive difficulty and mastery tracking.

Block distracting apps, study, then prove you've studied by answering questions that are subject-specific and are the type that actually appear on your exam.

Pass? You've earned your screen time! Guilt-free scrolling, and no more nagging feeling in the back of your head.

Fail? No more coddling, your future is at stake here. Get back to studying and come back once you know your stuff.

You can talk yourself into fifteen more minutes. You can't talk yourself into knowing the answer.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Choose the apps that have you scrolling for hours.
2. Customise a study session to fit your needs.
3. Actually do some studying (this one is on you).
4. Answer questions from your real syllabus and see if you've earned access to your apps.
5. Pass, and your apps open for a set window. Enjoy your break. Fail, and the shield stays up. There is no negotiating here. A question doesn't care how tired you are or how much 6. you deserve a break.
7. Get back to studying. Repeat this pattern and see a healthy habit form.
8. Ace your exam!
9. Delete StudyIn or use us for your next exam.

THE QUIZ IS THE STUDYING
This is the part people don't expect. Twenty years of research on retrieval practice found that testing yourself beats rereading and highlighting, which are the two things almost everyone does (Roediger & Karpicke, 2006). Are you starting to get it? The thing standing between you and that dopamine hit is also the thing improving your score. Now you are training yourself to WANT to study.

WHAT'S INSIDE
- An OS-level shield on any app you choose, built on Apple's Family Controls framework, so it holds across the whole device instead of inside one app.
- Questions from real syllabuses: SAT Reading & Writing, SAT Math, ACT Mathematics, ACT English & Reading.
- Adaptive difficulty across four levels. Questions get harder as you improve, and the ones you got wrong come back until you have them locked down.
- Per-module mastery tracking, so you can see which topics are costing you marks.
- Different modes. Study mode for exam season, interval-gated. Casual mode for maintenance, with lives and a daily unlock budget.
- An exam countdown, full session history, and a study companion that reacts to how the session is going.

WHY IT COSTS
What makes this study system work is the questions we put in front of you at quiz time. Too easy, and you don't learn anything. Too hard, and you lose motivation to study. That's why we use a difficulty-adaptive algorithm built on thousands of past-paper questions. This ensures concepts you have learnt are being reinforced, while also pushing the limits of your understanding.

Private SAT tutoring runs $45 to $400 an hour. A year of StudyIn costs less than one of those hours and will help you build a study structure across your entire independent study. Unlike a generic free blocker, StudyIn will actually make you study.

Psychological research and behavioural economics studies show time and time again that people who pay for a product, service, or program exhibit stronger commitment, completion rates, and perceived value compared to those who receive the same item for free. By paying, you are making a commitment to yourself about your intentions for studying.

StudyIn is a subscription with weekly, monthly and annual plans. There is no free version and no ads. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and you are not charged if you cancel before it ends.

### 5/5 — Love this App

*2026-09-01*

If you’re not using this app, literally what are you doing⁉️

My screen time was way too high before using this. It wasn’t really a problem until I started studying for the SAT and realised my study plan would never work unless I stopped doomscrolling. It was a struggle for the first week ngl but once I got over that hurdle, you see yourself building those habits and it helps so much with studying.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.4 — 2026-09-07

Over 600 new questions — every ACT and SAT topic is now
  covered at every difficulty level
• A timer during tests, with total and per-question times
  in your review
• Send feedback straight from the Me tab
• New Haptics and Sound switches, so you can quiet the app
  without silencing your phone
• ACT Reading now keeps each passage's questions together
  instead of jumping between texts
• A smaller download, despite all the new questions

### 2.3 — 2026-09-04

ACT is here.

ACT Mathematics, English, and Reading are now live, all six math reporting categories, plus reading passages with full question sets built on them.

SAT Reading and Writing has expanded it's question bank. Every difficulty level is filled in now, so reaching the top no longer means running out of material.

Also in this update:
• Missed questions come back on a schedule instead of vanishing
• One wrong answer no longer wipes out your progress on a quiz
• Every quiz includes a question one level above you, so moving up is earned
• Review shows what you got right, not just what you got wrong
• A session timeline showing what your blocked apps were doing, minute by minute
• Study and Casual each remember their own session settings
• Session alerts arrive reliably, even while StudyIn is open

### 2.2 — 2026-08-24

Version 2.2

ACT MATH IS HERE
ACT Mathematics questions are live, with the full topic breakdown behind them: number and quantity, algebra, functions, geometry, and statistics and probability. Adaptive difficulty and mastery tracking work the same way they already do for SAT.

MEET THE ORB
Your sessions now have company. The Orb sits inside the timer ring and reacts to what you're actually doing: steady while the clock runs, pleased when you get one right, distinctly unimpressed when you pick your phone back up mid-session. It is the most accountability we could fit inside a circle.

A REBUILT ONBOARDING
Setup is new from the first screen. You enter your exam date and watch the countdown start, then take a real quiz on your own module before you commit to anything, so you know exactly what the questions are like. Permissions are now explained at the moment they're asked for rather than all at once.

QUESTIONS THAT DON'T RUN OUT
Question sets used to be fixed, which meant repeats once you'd worked through a topic. Questions are now written against your specific sub-skill and checked against everything you have already seen, so what comes back is new. Questions you've answered stay out of rotation.

MATH THAT LOOKS LIKE MATH
Equations, fractions, exponents and roots render properly inside questions now, instead of being flattened into plain text.

A LONGER TRIAL
The free trial is seven days on every plan, up from three. You'll also get a notification the day before it ends, so it can't quietly renew on you.

ALSO IN THIS VERSION
- Fixed a bug that stopped SAT and ACT quizzes loading for some users.
- Questions load noticeably faster, especially the second time you study a topic.
- Fixes to the shield extensions and the reblock timer.

Thanks for the reviews and the bug reports. If a question looks wrong or something breaks, tell us and we'll fix it.
