Your reading is interrupted halfway down the page by a translucent ad but it covers the words and makes reading fluently very hard. If I try to view the video in full screen it starts, then crashes and then I have to go to the Home Screen and start over again. The quiz does not move on after answering the first question. If I choose a main topic and select an article, I have to choose to go back to the start of that section and then find the article to move onto the next one, why can’t I just swipe to the next article like the previous APP The ad’s now take over half of the realestate of the screen. While I understand that ads are necessary, they should not overtake the main reason to provide news! I have removed the APP, restarted the ipad and re-install, but it still doesn’t work as detailed above ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2026-02-18, version 6.260211.0* Still one of the absolute worst apps to use on one of the most common types of mobile phone. You then log in again and sends you an OTP, you load this and then it takes you to the log in page asking for you to enter your email address to receive an OTP…and so it continues over and over and over….. ### 2/5 — Logged out constantly *2026-02-03, version 6.260120.4* Keeps logging me out after a period of time and ever since the last update when I try to log back in it doesn’t load anything and takes me back to the app telling me to log in. First says there is no account for my email and then that the email address already has an account. This app used to be good, but it’s regressing rather than progressing. Given articles need a login to view I have to move to other sites for news. Just browse to the website with brave browser or setup pihole to block ads . Seriously WTF ### 1/5 — Load of rubbish *2026-08-11, version 6.260804.0* Used to have Stuff as my go to for news but since they ruined their app have had to look elsewhere. Just had another look after a few months and still bad and they insisted I sign in, which no way in hell will I do that letting them capture my data. Click on an article and it directs you their website, asking you to log in. I’m already logged in using the app. Why do you need another login? Click on the login link and nothing happens. Hopeless, get to read about 4 lines of the article. To make it even worse, they keep pushing you to take up a paid subscription. Takes you out of the app to your browser, shows 3 lines of the article and then asked you to login. Do that, you can read the article, but if you go back to the app, it seems to log you out and do the same thing again. After years of what seems like trial and error app development, they still can’t get it right. So I tried to find a setting within the app to disable various topics, but such a setting doesn’t exist. You have to go into the actual phone settings and turn all notifications off (the all or nothing solution). Would be good to have an option that lets you get notified for specific items/writers/topics, a simple setting you access from the ≡ (burger button) ### 5/5 — Stuff keeps us in touch *2022-07-18* Even living in UK we often rely on Stuff to find out what’s going on in our own country. I clinked on a link within an article today about the current weather, assuming it was about the current weather, but it was about the weather 4 years ago! The only way I figured this out was by seeing the date on the embedded twitter feed. Interesting as the article was, it would be nice to know it was a historical article, by simply adding a publish date. In a perfect world you could comment on all articles but they legally can’t risk it with many stories. In a perfect world the proof reading would be perfect but the variety of content means a fast turnaround and less time for triple checks. It’s worth 5 stars but my main dislike is when we are forced to watch a video to get the details of a story (I want to read my news not watch it) so I skip those stories, I am also not a fan of the Twitter format, where some stories are a copy and paste Twitter feed or similar... it tends to happen with breaking stories so perhaps they don’t have time to create an article but I cant read them, to disjointed so I skip those too. But the majority is great and worth 5 stars. ### 5/5 — The land of great stuff ➡️ *2020-09-23* Always my go to site for info on stories which are made in NZ, being based in the land of Oz it’s gold. The politics the sport the local stories always a winner. I am happy to contribute to quality journalism which is outside of the control of an international media group.
