## What is Subsurface?

Subsurface-mobile is an iOS dive log application based on Subsurface, the best free open source dive log application available on Windows, Mac and Linux. Subsurface-mobile allows you to access your dive log on your tablet or phone, edit the data and even download new dive information from many Bluetooth LE enabled dive computers. Using a free Subsurface Cloud Storage account you can synchronize your dive data with the Subsurface desktop application (while significantly increasing the usefulness, the cloud account is not required to use Subsurface-mobile).

To get support from the developers, please use the in-app menu entry "Ask for support"

Please check out the Subsurface-mobile user manual: https://subsurface-divelog.org/documentation/subsurface-mobile-v3-user-manual (also available from within the app)

Subsurface-mobile is free and open source. No ads, no commercial anything. And it comes with free cloud storage (if you decide to use that - it's optional). Your data aren't used for anything, nothing gets monetized.

## Key features

- Mobile dive log management
- Edit dive data
- Download from Bluetooth LE dive computers

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2026-07-08, version 6.0.5581*

Looks like was developed in ‘95 and extremely buggy. I can’t imagine why anyone would use this

### 5/5 — Awesome free dive log

*2026-05-19, version 6.0.5581*

For a free dive log app this thing is pretty sweet! The UI is not the prettiest thing you’ll ever see, but what matters is the data and content - and this app does all of that well!
I first download the Mac app on my MacBook and I find that it’s easier for me to upload all my dives directly to my MacBook first, and then sync them with the cloud. Once you do that they all become visible here in the mobile app for easy viewing and editing.
I hope the developers keep this app current because it’s great!

### 1/5 — Don’t

*2026-03-12, version 6.0.5504*

Wanted to make it work but wasted too much time. Randomly changed dive dates of all dives. Manually corrected only to have them changed again. No support. Not ready for prime time. Look elsewhere.

### 1/5 — The most convoluted, frustrating app I’ve ever used

*2025-10-06, version 6.0.5436*

Seems there’s no really good apps to log dives, you’d be better off using a toaster to log your dives than this app. I’ve tried to log the same dive 3 times the exact same way and each time it gets the details wrong in a completely different way. It will just change the time, depth, duration, weight etc for no reason by a little bit of a lot. It’s like it’s a prank app.

### 2/5 — Suunto ocean

*2025-08-25, version 6.0.5414*

Not compatible with Suunto ocean still..
UI is uhh quite outdated and clunky but there is a dark mode option

### 5/5 — Best dive logger hands down

*2025-08-11, version 6.0.5414*

I use this on my MacBook and iPhone and find it preferable to the SSI and Shearwater apps.

### 5/5 — Most versatile Dive log

*2024-11-14, version 6.0.5276*

I have used Subsurface for years and it has every feature I would ever need. I can’t specify what is the best feature because it has many. The top 2 are first it’s compatible with most dive computers and second it works on most pc OS and mobile devices.

### 1/5 — Save yourself the trouble

*2024-03-07, version 6.0.5031*

Built to interface with a computer. If you are entering manually stay on paper and save time and hassle. Clunky and confusing UI. Too often get into screens and can’t figure out how to exit. And the video tutorial so full of ads that huge time wasted

### 3/5 — Decent but can’t read Genesis Centauri

*2022-10-18, version 3.4.7*

Good logging capabilities but does not detect Genesis Centauri or the Deep6 Excusion despite being in the list. By comparison Dive Log had no problems detecting and downloading these devices. Looks to be an example of you get what you pay for.

### 5/5 — Amazing dive log!

*2022-04-27, version 3.4.3*

Thank you for such a great FLOSS dive log. You’re the best ❤️
