A quick search on the App Store and I’m downloading Subtitles Viewer. A few taps and the subtitles are downloaded and playing n sync with the movie. Such a wonderful app for, not only, the deaf community but to those needing language translations either at home or when travelling overseas. It allows for those who need subs to have them while not ruining the immersive experience for those who do not need them. It is also helpful for situations when subs are needed but not provided. The customization features are nice and it’s easy to adjust the timing and size of font when needed. Sorry to gave 1 star. ### 1/5 — Only the subtitles, literally! *2024-03-24* Paid .99 for Dune Part 2, English. The only subtitles in the app were *literally* just the subtitles that appeared on the screen when someone was speaking an alien language! No spoken English was subtitled at all. I guess I understand there are copyright issues with subtitling all dialog, I think this should be disclosed before you pay. I paid because I can’t always make out the spoken dialog. Disappointed! The APP is useless then. Could the developer consider 3 free credits a day? Or other ways to earn credits? Otherwise it’s not called “Free”. Want to try more before purchase credits. The unlimited credit is for lifetime, not just per month. ### 1/5 — Not free *2020-05-02, version 3.0.8* Have to buy credits to play subtitles 😡 ### 1/5 — Why would I want to watch words…… *2020-04-30, version 3.0.8* This app was horrible I wanted to watch a movie but words just are there instead and there was no sound at all ### 1/5 — Bait-and-switch PAY app. $1 per subtitle! *2020-02-15, version 3.0.8* I wrote a 5 star review for this about a year ago, and not long after, this app stopped being free, despite the fact that it had ads (and apparently still does). It costs $0.99 to buy a “credit” to use a subtitle that you view using the (opensubtitle.org-based) in-app subtitle search. Or, you can pay $5 to use a Dropbox account to which you need to upload subtitles to view them. Not worth it, when the whole point of using a phone to view subs was that it was quick and free, despite being awkward, obviously. What a crazy difference in price between the two options. Greed shouldn’t start this early, when the dev could easily have just kept earning revenue from ads. What a shame. ### 1/5 — Not connecting to server *2019-02-04, version 3.0.0* I’ve paid for credits and then paid for the pro version, and it’s still not working, as it is unable to connect to server. I understand there may be some federal restrictions in Australia for us to access subtitles now, but how can you not notify us? I’m now several dollars out of pocket for an app that doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Crappy app *2019-01-26* I used the first 3 free subtitles with no issues. It was wonderful. THEN I paid the $7 for unlimited use. The moment I paid, there have been nothing but problems with this app. It can't find a single movie or show.... Of course there's no one to complain to... Some episode would have them and some wouldn’t. On those that didn’t have them I used this app… But then at a certain point JJK just stopped providing them period. So I am going to use this very frequently. I downloaded this app to my iPad and LOVE IT! I’ve watched many movies and the captions are ALWAYS correct and timed well. There are also fast forward, rewind and pause functions in case you’re watching on tv and have to navigate commercials.
