I have a student who is struggling with subtraction. This app allows her the opportunity to visually see the little sardines disappear as she is subtracting. The game is engaging. However, I just wish there was a way to block out negative numbers. If there is a way, I haven't figured it out. :) ### 3/5 — negative numbers for basic subtraction *2012-07-10, version 1.2.1* I question why the publishers of this app think that it is appropriate to have negative numbers in an app obviously for beginners. My children found the negative numbers, represented by more fish, really confusing. As an example, my 7 year old is now wondering why 3 - 7 = 4. It would be better to limit the numbers subtracted to equal or less than the first number, but I can't find that option. ### 5/5 — My 5-year-old loves it! *2012-04-19* My youngest has picked up pretty quickly on basic subtraction thanls to this game. She can play it on her own and enjoys it! ### 3/5 — Good but needs some improvements *2012-04-07* First of all, as some were saying, there is no option to block negative numbers. Second, unlike the multiplication, the user is not able to see the math problem above the answer. For example, in multiplication, there is 2x3 above the answer of 6, but in substraction answer of 3, there is no explanation of 5-2, something like that. I think being able to see the math problem is important rather than just the answer. So please fix them and i'll give you 5 stars. Thank you. ### 5/5 — Bright fun way to learn *2012-03-12, version 1.2.1* I bought this app for my son with autism after he successfully used Adding Apples but I was a little skeptical that he would have the same success. I was wrong. I sat with him to explain one round to him and immediately his interest was held with the beautiful bright colorful graphics Operatio are known for. My son watched me as I showed him that the fishes were first 8 and then someone ate the fishies and now how many we're left. He did so well and was so captivated and was excited to build his piggy bank. Subtracting Sardines is a great app for kids with autism who are visual learners but also good for all kids learning how to subtract.
