## What is SubZone?

Experience unparalleled sound quality with SubZone - the ultimate app for optimizing your subwoofer's position. Simply enter the details of your room and listening position, and our advanced acoustic simulation will find the sweet spot. The result is clear, well-defined, deep bass that brings the very best out of music and movies.

When sound waves reflect off the walls, ceiling, and floor of a room they produce "room modes". These affect the sound by boosting or cutting certain frequencies, making some sound too boomy and others not present enough. To get the best performance out of your subwoofer, it is important to position it in a location that minimizes the effect of room modes.

Previously, finding the best place to put a subwoofer has involved trial-and-error or expensive acoustic software. Some even suggest crawling around on your hands and knees to listen for the best spot. Now, SubZone allows you to calculate the optimal position in a scientific and affordable way from the comfort of your seat.

Key features:
- Supports any rectangular-shaped room
- Simulates the acoustic effect of placing your subwoofer in each possible zone of your room
- Calculates a score out of 10 for how well each zone performs
- Recommends the optimum zones, marked with a star

### 1/5 — Dont work!!!

*2025-05-29*

Not worth 1 Cent if it dont work!
Used the app and placed the sub on the Top position. The deep frequencis where everywhere else but on my hearing position!
Just be fair to sent my money back! 😡

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having Albert. If you could please contact us then we would be very happy to help you resolve this :)

### 4/5 — Pretty good, needs a little work.

This is an improvement on the last version. It would be a clear improvement to be able to have more than one sub in a scheme, be able to place these independently and see the resulting combined response curve for each listening point. I know it’s more number crunching but I think worth it.

### 4/5 — Immediate improvement

*2023-11-05*

Very good value! I was advised by the subwoofer manufacturer to place both subs near the main speakers, but this turned out to be a bad choice. Was following the best practical solution the App suggested and put them 50 respectively 90 cm back in my room and earned a lot more output and precision. Amazing. The choices for wall and roof materials are a bit basic, but it worked. Very happy.

### 4/5 — Pretty good start!

So far, so good. The app performs as expected. The developer is very responsive, and is very polite. I think this app has a lot of potential, and I’m looking forward to using it. I have set up my listening room, and put the sub where the app recommended, and it seems to sound pretty good. I haven’t done measurements yet, but I am moderately confident measurements will bear out what the app recommends. To quickly determine the place to put a sub, this app is very useful. Once the app is polished over the course of the next few months, it will likely be a five star app. It certainly worth a dollar!

### 5/5 — Olly

I put the sub where it said and it sounded ace. Just for fun I put the sub where it said not to and it was horrible. Seems to work

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2024-03-31

- Speed: Simulations now run up to 10 times faster, enabling the efficient modeling of large acoustic spaces.
- Materials: You can assign different materials for each wall within your room, increasing the simulation accuracy.
- Orientation: You can define the room's orientation for improved clarity.
- Fixed crash caused by third-party dependency.

### 1.3 — 2024-03-28

- Speed: Simulations now run up to 10 times faster, enabling the efficient modeling of large acoustic spaces.
- Materials: You can assign different materials for each wall within your room, increasing the simulation accuracy.
- Orientation: You can define the room's orientation for improved clarity.

### 1.2 — 2024-01-26

Target frequency range
- SubZone can now further optimize the position of your subwoofer by targeting a specific frequency range. You may want to do this to account for your system’s bass management, or to match the frequency range of your subwoofer.
- You can set the range by dragging the sliders on the x-axis of the frequency response plot. When you move the sliders, the heatmap will automatically update as it optimizes to the specified frequency range.

Guidance
- On the room set-up screen we have added some guidance to help those who have non-rectangular rooms.

Edit listening position
- You can now edit a listening position by long-pressing its selection button.

Other
- Added concrete as a material option for ceilings.
- Added labels to the y-axis of the frequency response plot.
- Fixed a text cut-off issue affecting some phone models.

### 1.1 — 2023-04-07

Added support for international decimal separators. Increased maximum room size. Tweaked icon positions.
