### 4/5 — Just purchased Version 3.3 Works well so far

*2026-08-14, version 3.2*

Learning to play Succession (Rack-O)

Easy to beat the computer Novice & Rival, lost to Master (Classic, 40a cards)

Got better with strategy and now beating Computer/Master, Classic, full deck of cards (60 cards)

Good app to hone skills.

Graphics for 40 cards really needs improvement.

### 3/5 — Don’t like update

*2026-07-27, version 3.0.0*

I like the look and some features of the update, but hate, hate, hate that you can’t change options like number of cards and length of game. It was nearly perfect before the update. Now I doubt I’ll be playing much. Which makes me sad because I loved this game!

### 2/5 — Not a fan of the update!

*2026-07-22, version 3.0.0*

Why did this wonderful game change from the original? I loved the other version but this one is bland. Where are the sound effects? Where is the fun jazz theme music? NOT A FAN OF THIS VERSION AT ALL.
Why did you change something that wasn’t broken??
#heartbroken

### 3/5 — Succession

*2026-07-15, version 3.0.0*

Cannot see all the numbers anymore

### 2/5 — …

*2023-05-06, version 2.0.8*

I’ve found two Rack-O “inspired” games on iOS and both are equally frustrating. This one looks sharper (and actually saves your game if the app closes, lol), but suffers from some pretty key problems: Only one AI opponent, the AI opponent is shockingly bad, and there’s no bonus points for getting runs in classic mode. Pick this one if you want your games to look nice or you do a lot of switching between apps.

### 1/5 — Horrible!!

*2022-07-25, version 2.0.8*

I realize that there is a disclaimer at the beginning of this game that states ‘some items’ may cause trouble, but we could not play it at all. I want my $1.99 back!!

### 1/5 — Don’t Buy Succession!!!

*2022-06-25, version 2.0.8*

Don’t waste $ on this game. It worked fine for a few days, then my payment went thru and it stopped working. Rack-O is fun but this app is a rip off! Wish I could give it zero stars

### 1/5 — Advice-help

*2022-04-17, version 2.0.8*

I purchased this app because I love this game. I was excited to be able to play online with my daughter to states away. I however every time I play after every action I have to close the app and open it back up again. It takes the fun out of the game. What am I doing wrong?

### 4/5 — Stopped working

*2021-10-16, version 2.0.8*

I have played this app for several years, it is one of my favorites! However, it stopped working ever since the latest Apple iOS update. Would love to see this get updated to be compatible, and maybe even a few new game features as well? Such as ability to track turns played, ability to see all time wins/losses, better functionality in player stats.

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2021-10-05, version 2.0.8*

I’ve played this game for a long time with few issues. After the last Apple update the game has become unworkable. Not worth my time.

### 1/5 — Online does work.

*2021-03-19, version 2.0.8*

I purchased this to play online. AFTER you pay $1.99, you learn that the advertised online feature “may have issues” aka doesn’t work. I lost $3.98 because I purchased it twice to test it. Complete waste of money.

### 4/5 — Game Center required....useless

*2020-04-18*

Do not be fooled. If you want to play this with family over the net, it is unstable and frustrating at best. The game even warns you....only after you buy and install...that online play is a bonus feature that will have issues. I bought this game cause my kids and I loved it when they were young. Both play it now as adults so I thought this would be a wonderful way to have family time now that they live in other states. I was wrong. It requires Game Center which is always a nuisance and even then is a pain. With so many games out there that simply require you to send an invitation with a room number to involve others, I don’t know why any developer would rely on Game Center. I only lost 1.99 on it. Which is the only positive thing I can say about this game.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-04-17, version 2.0.8*

Thought I could play online. Can’t hook up. Message even says don’t expect it to run smooth. Stole my money. Ridiculous APPLE doesn’t oversee this crap

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work online

*2020-04-10, version 2.0.8*

It doesn’t let the other player play! I took my turn and then they try to play their turn but it returns and they keep trying but it doesn’t stick but notifies other player it’s there turn but when I go to take my turn it says it’s the others turn and won’t continue. Thanks for stealing my $2!!

### 4/5 — Love the game, have online question

*2020-03-27, version 2.0.8*

Love the game and it’s currently providing quite a bit of fun during our forced time at home! Is it possible to modify online game play so that you can require a run of 3 as in the regular game against the computer?

### 2/5 — Three changes needed!

*2019-12-26, version 2.0.8*

I’ve played Rack-o for almost 60 years. Please always have the opponents’ rack on screen so we can memorize their pickups and placements, as in physical Rack-o. Get rid of the racks sliding on and off the screen, as this is very annoying and doesn’t give you time to attempt to memorize an opponent’s card placement, which is part of strategy (see my first request.) Please show the opponent’s rack when a game ends.

### 4/5 — See opponents cards

*2019-08-16, version 2.0.8*

Fun game. Wish opponents hand would show at end of each round. Wish computer’s hand would show at end of each round.

### 4/5 — Nearly perfect

*2019-07-08, version 2.0.8*

Let me start by saying I really (really) like this game. I love Rack-O, and Succession is a wonderful version of the game. When playing with a friend, the game is at its best.

I’d like to give this game 5 stars, but I can’t because playing against the computer is not really playing against the computer (it’s playing solitaire against yourself). When you play against the computer, the “computer” simply makes random choices for a random number of turns. The computer is not actually playing against you. How do I know? Not only does the computer not show you its cards when it “wins,” I had the computer win after playing a “60.” Why is this odd? We were playing where a win condition included having to have two runs of three. The computer a 60 and declared victory. However, I had 58 in my play field. It was impossible to go out on a 60.

So, while you will not improve your game by building skills to deal with the other player’s gameplay when playing against the computer, Succession is still fun and engaging. Playing solitaire (where you have a random number of turns to win) is still a lot of fun.

I highly recommend this game. If the AI is actually coded to play the game, I will change my rating to 5 stars.

### 4/5 — So addicting — almost perfect!

*2019-01-07, version 2.0.8*

I love this game so much and am completely addicted. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because of the online gameplay. There’s actually a warning message when you start an online game that it’s a bonus feature and you shouldn’t expect it to work well. I had one online game that wouldn’t let me take my turn, so I deleted the game and it counted as a loss. I really love this game; I just wish they would put some effort into developing the online gameplay! I would be willing to pay for a version with decent online gameplay where your ranking is tracked.

### 2/5 — Decent but way too easy

*2018-06-05, version 2.0.8*

Plays well just like the game that inspired it, but the computer AI is way too easy to beat at the hardest difficulty. It’s no fun playing a game that you can’t loose.

Online is currently not working at all.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — v 3.2 Still unplayable

*2026-08-15, version 3.2*

Ruined a perfectly good game. Unplayable, no longer fun. What a shame. Should have left well enough alone.

### 1/5 — What happened to the old version?

*2026-08-12, version 3.2*

I like the old version so much better! So much easier to see and what about using the whole deck! I think this sucks!

### 1/5 — Succession

*2026-07-24, version 3.0.0*

J'aime pas le graphique l'ancien étais mieux

### 1/5 — The update is awful.

*2026-07-16, version 3.0.0*

We had really enjoyed this game and played it every night. The update has ruined it. You cannot stop a game and start the next day where you left off. There are also no sound effects. Look, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The developers took a fun game and completely ruined it. We will delete the game and play the original card based version.

### 1/5 — The new update

*2026-07-15, version 3.0.0*

The new update totally destroyed this game. I deleted it!

### 1/5 — New is not always better

*2026-07-15, version 3.0.0*

Loved the old format, played it everyday. New format is awkward, no longer enjoyable.

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-07-15, version 3.0.0*

I hate it

### 1/5 — Update sucks

*2026-07-14, version 3.0.0*

Succession did an update now you have to stay on the game to even play it. They couldn’t leave it alone before it was fun now it sucks. How many people are gonna just dump it like me

### 1/5 — Ruined layout

*2026-07-12*

What has happened to Succession that I have loved playing for years? Why are the stacks so small? Too much blank(dead) space on the screen. I have enjoyed playing this on my phone and tablet. Now, the poor, unattractive layout has taken all the fun out of it! Another example of something being “fixed” that wasn’t broken. Not an absolute thing wrong with the previous layout.

**Developer response:** I apologize for the changes that have negatively affected your experience.

We will be addressing these changes in the next update to bring things closer to their previous design.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2026-06-09, version 2.0.8*

Game does not work with online partners, doesn’t deserve a rating

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I miss the old format!

*2018-04-21, version 2.0.8*

Sadly, this version is not as exciting as the previous one. I do not like the extra numbers, nor do I like the numbered hints on the side. It takes the strategy away from the player. Please make a version for single players ONLY! Also I find the swinging back-and-forth board annoying!

Thank you for addressing my issues.

### 5/5 — Awesome game! Very addictive!

*2018-03-31, version 2.0.6*

Great game. Played a 500 point game was engaged the whole time. Will be great to play for this 55 year old train commuter. Looking forward to my next train commute home!!!!

### 5/5 — FUN & ENGAGING. PLAY IT NOW!!!

*2018-02-12, version 2.0.3*

Solitaire and Words with Friends have gotten old. This is one of my new favorite games to play on my iPhone. I also love the new update!😃

### 5/5 — Love love love this game!!

*2018-02-12, version 2.0.3*

This is a must download. Such a fun card game all alone or pass-n-play with friends! Great value, well made app. I loved playing Rack-O, now I can get my fix anytime!

### 5/5 — Online is back! Yay!

*2018-02-11, version 2.0.3*

Thanks for bringing the online feature back. Love this game! So much fun, way too addicting! I feel like an extreme strategist! You gotta download this one.

### 5/5 — What a throwback! Great game, great price!

*2018-02-08, version 2.0.2*

I love playing this Rack-O game. I got back at it with the awesome new update. No crashes or anything. I’m 50 and I love it, great way to relax after work. I love playing with my wife, although she frequently beats me! I highly recommend the app. Easy to learn, made by a quality developer. It’s got my vote!

### 5/5 — Addictive card game, great for all ages!

*2018-02-08, version 2.0.2*

I play this game with all my friends, kids and adults a-like. I love the pass-n-play feature! This new update is awesome. Very quality app, runs well. The $1.99 is worth having ZERO ads. I highly recommend downloading it and giving it a try. Watch out, it’s the next best game card game, it passes up Solitaire and Uno in my book!

### 5/5 — Really smooth and user friendly

*2017-07-09, version 2.0.1*

I really enjoy playing this game. It runs so smoothly and is simple to play. All you need to do is tap on a card and tap where it goes. You can play a full game really quickly and actually have enough time to reach your goal. Love this game.

### 5/5 — Addictive

*2017-07-08, version 2.0.1*

Love the update. Looks sharper. I only play the computer, and it is a worthy challenger. I love the three in a row version best.

The previous version only had cards from 1-40 for two players. When it did, the computer opponent often beat me. I wish 40 card play was an option, because it was more of a challenge, but three in a row mode is also a good challenge, even with 60 cards.

### 5/5 — Love the new version!

*2017-07-04, version 2.0.1*

This update is fantastic! I've been waiting to be able to play online since the original version and it's great!

By the way, the numbers on the side are to show how many points you have so far, they're not for helping place cards.

Love the update!
