Loved this App for years. I used the Camera function to capture Sudoku’s from various magazines and then played them at a more convenient time. That was until the IOS 26.1 upgrade. Since then the Camera function no longer works. Waited patiently for the developers of this App to create an update but so far this hasn’t happened. I noticed though that the Light version’s Camera function still works. So, developers, can you update please?

This works pretty well. Scanning from print usually works but sometimes I have to take a photo, crop it, and recognize it from library pictures. The worst thing is having to key in the initial pencil marks . I consider this task mundane. If that feature was added I would award 5 stars.

Filed this several years ago, still no automatic pencil marks.  Print recognition has improved however.

For some reason I can’t get on with other sudoku apps. This is my go-to. 

It was, however, designed for a smaller phone and I prefer playing it on an old iPhone. Even on the ES, it’s too far up the screen to use comfortably and I wish the developer would address this issue.

Have been using Sudoku Magic for about four years. For the standard Sudoku game you won’t do much better. The scan from a printed game is not easy to make work, but otherwise everything behaves quite well.

The developer have been promoting "Capture Mode" they even have a video in YouTube.  My experience I tried 20 puzzle 10 from Newspapers and 10 from a sudoku book with solving results.  When I try to capture them the Sudoku Magic that I owned and paid for with my iPhone 7 Plus said "Invalid Sudoku.  Please amend the puzzle each time more than twenty times I have tried.  Several attempts to contact the developer no reply it has been more than two weeks.  Therefore please don't waste your money purchasing this game app.

Conclusion: Sudoku Grab is better

Why: 
OCR feature - this app struggles with scanning capture puzzles. I couldn't figure out if there was a way to change the scan area which I feel is a strength of Sudoku Grab. The app frequently presented me with incomplete grids and even failed to find a puzzle from a screen grab of a puzzle created itself!

Pencil marks - only come in black (SG offers red, blue & green)

Rating algorithm - seems generous - extreme puzzles are not rated as difficult in SG.

Overall design - what is with the font choice?
