## What is Sudoku Sensei?

I made this because I wanted hints that tell me what I missed. Tap Hint and it highlights the cells for the easiest next step and names the technique. Tap Why? for the reasoning in a sentence or two, then Apply to make the move.

With mistake checking on, a wrong digit gets a one-line reason, like "Row 4 already has a 6." If you ask for a hint while a wrong digit is still on the board, the hint points that out first.

TECHNIQUES
There are ten: naked and hidden singles, naked and hidden pairs, pointing pairs and triples, box-line reduction, naked triples, X-wing, XY-wing and swordfish. Each one gets its own page with an example board and a short lesson. A ring on the page fills as you find the technique without a hint, and after five it's full. Pro adds practice drills for each technique. Every drill is a position where you need that technique to make the next move.

iPhone Duo
Open the phone like a book and the board moves to the left page, with the number pad and hints on the right. Nothing you tap sits on the fold. The home screen, the daily puzzle calendar, Learn and Stats open into two pages as well, and on a technique page the example board faces the lesson. With the fold running across, flat or standing like a laptop, the number pad and hints go under the board. On the outer screen you get the same one-column layout as on any other iPhone.

DAILY PUZZLE
Everyone gets the same puzzle each day. Monday to Saturday it's Medium or Hard, and Sunday's is Expert. A new one starts at midnight UTC. The app keeps your streak and ticks off the days you finish on a monthly calendar, and a full month gets a trophy. If you use Game Center, your time also goes on that day's leaderboard.

ALSO
• Five levels: Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert. A puzzle's level comes from the hardest technique it needs
• Placing a digit clears it from the notes in its row, column and box. You can turn that off
• Undo and redo
• The selected cell's row, column and box are highlighted, and so are matching digits
• Zen mode, for playing without a clock or a mistake count. You can also turn off just the timer, or just mistake checking
• Light, dark, sepia and high contrast themes, three text sizes, and a left-handed layout
• VoiceOver reads every cell, notes included
• Works on iPhone and iPad. There's no account, and your games and stats are saved on the device

FREE AND PRO
The free version has every level including Expert, the daily puzzle and all the technique lessons, and you can play as many games as you want. You get 3 hints a day. When they're used up you can watch a short video for another one, up to 3 extra a day. Other than those videos, the only ads are full-screen ones that can show up after you finish a puzzle, never more than one every three minutes. There are no banner ads.
Pro removes the ads and gives you unlimited hints, the technique drills, past daily puzzles, your full stats history and four more accent colors.
You can get Pro yearly (with a 7-day free trial), monthly, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Family Sharing works with all three. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them any time in your Apple Account settings.
