The u.It is engaging; the functions are great; the ability to meticulously plot out all of my story helps a ton. So, when I saw the app, I instantly downloaded it and have not been disappointed. I love how quick my story is now to access on the go; I love how streamlined it's become. But, in terms of efficiency vs options of things to do, it feels limited. I know this is just the beta version of the app, and I'm sure with constant updates they can make it just as, if not even better than, the website, but right now it's just not it. The UI and HUD need improvements; the option to write selections is lacking, and the look of the app has much more to be desired. But all in all, I'd rate it a solid 8-to 7.8 out of 10. I tried the links but it says the project doesn’t exist. I’m writing on mobile if we can get that fixed please. When you open it, it actually wants you to use the browser version. The app crashes and freezes. Frankly it needs removing until it is developed. I paid for one month to “try it out,” but they kept trying to charge me for another month because there doesn’t seem to be any option to cancel the subscription. I tried contacting them by email and received a generic response saying someone would get in touch with me, but no one ever did. Regardless of how much direction you give. Sometimes it surprises me with little nuggets though. Overall it improves my writing. ### 2/5 — Wow! Until it’s not. *2026-04-04, version 1.6.19* I signed up for Sudowrite’s free 10,000-token trial specifically to test whether it could handle my genre before I paid. I write transgressive erotic fiction, but never hard-stop material like violence, minors, coercion, or non-consensual content. My stories involve consenting, mature adults. Sudowrite handled my trial tests beautifully, including some extreme edge-case scenarios relevant to my style. It did so well that I immediately upgraded to the 1 million token plan. I then tested it further with several previously written and published stories. No problems. After that, I started a new original story and about 1,800 words in, the chat froze. After refreshing multiple times, Sudowrite suddenly said the content was not allowed and refused to continue. The issue is that this story was actually milder than the others it had already allowed. I asked for clarification and got none. I signed out, back in, and even started a new document. Same result. I can respect boundaries. What I cannot respect is inconsistency with no explanation. Don’t approve content during the trial, let similar or stronger material pass, take my money, and then block a milder story without telling me what changed or how to fix it. Sudowrite won me over, then immediately damaged that trust. For writers working in consensual adult transgressive fiction, transparency and consistency are not optional. ### 2/5 — Can't Unsubscribe *2026-04-03, version 1.6.19* The app's functions are alright. It works as a chatbot and is decent at generating ideas. I subscribed to the hobbyist plan. In-app, there is a button to manage your subscriptions, but suspiciously the button always returns an error; "Failed to open subscription management. Please try again." It has given me this error every. Single. Time. I've clicked on it. No matter the time of day nor connection. I'm disputing the claim with my bank right now; seems like they don't intend on letting you unsubscribe. ### 1/5 — Nothing on this app is working. *2026-04-01, version 1.6.19* I can’t click on anything, nothing submits. Nothing generates. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Avoid this app at all cost *2026-08-14, version 2026.30.2* I canceled my subscription three months ago, only to find out that they are still charging me. When I canceled three months ago, the app wouldn’t let me cancel so I emailed them directly and they said they took care of it. However, it’s very obvious they did not. I have tried to cancel on my own multiple times and continuously receive an error that something went wrong. I don’t know what else to do because talking to them doesn’t seem to help. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2026-07-17, version 2026.28.0* Constant hallucinations, no consistency, doesn’t work at all ### 1/5 — Sucks *2026-07-05* Short messages, doesn’t let me continue my story nothing tried to find something similar to Chatgpt4o but its not it. I dont recommend it. **Developer response:** Have you experimented with tweaking your Write Settings? You can choose the length of the generation, up to 1500 words. You can also choose the AI doing the work, in case you want to try and adjust the voice. Don’t waste your time. ### 1/5 — One of the worst writing tools I have used *2026-06-21, version 2026.22.1* I paid $30 for Sudowrite and stopped using it after about two hours because the experience was a complete nightmare. Instead of helping me improve my story, the program repeatedly hijacked it. It changed major plot points, rewrote important scenes, altered character motivations, and kept trying to turn my story into something completely different. These were not minor suggestions or small edits. It was changing the foundation of the story and replacing my ideas with its own. I gave it clear instructions over and over again. I explained exactly what needed to stay the same and what I wanted help with. It continued making the same unwanted changes despite being corrected dozens of times. Every failed rewrite also used more credits. I spent most of those two hours trying to fix problems the program had created while watching my credits disappear. It felt less like a writing assistant and more like a credit-dump vending machine. A writing tool should preserve the writer’s voice and follow directions. Sudowrite did neither for me. It wasted my time, made my story worse, and charged credits each time it ignored my instructions. I have requested a full refund of the $30 I paid. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Sudowrite. ### 1/5 — The Bugs *2026-06-14, version 2026.22.1* When using the copy and paste in certain sections of Story Bible it will crash making it unusable. I am very hesitant in using something credit based. When trying out the trial period I quickly realized if you do not give it much direction in erotica it will not create it. As an MM writer I been looking for something to help me write my scenes because sometimes I run out of ideas. Well when I gave it a direction and showed the ai what I write and pasted it. It then said it could help me write it so I tested out this feature, it wrote in a PG13 language and it baffled me. At this point I am more concerned about the bugs this app has. ### 1/5 — What’s the point? *2026-06-08, version 2026.22.1* What’s the point of this app? The main feature of the full website is not offered. Without the ability to generate the story bible elements like on the website, this app is really just a notes app, but more organized. ### 1/5 — A disaster *2026-05-21, version 2026.15.0* This app has the worst user experience I’ve ever encountered. Chats are hidden. Edits are nonsensical at best and outright halucinatory at times. The developers need to put serious work into this app to level to what basics general AI can accomplish. This was a complete waste of energy and effort. I do most of my writing on my iPad and would love to see a fully functional app that matches the browser version. I would much rather take my iPad out with me than my laptop to write. So hoping for a much more functional version of this app soon. (I concede that the iPad version is still in Beta, but the iPhone version is pretty much the same.) ### 5/5 — Amazing App *2025-12-16, version 1.4.7* Would totally Recommend this app over other any other AIs and I’ve tried them all. Its ability for storytelling is very useful mainly for helping but is also capable of writing masterpieces of its own. My only complaint would be the limited 10,000 credits. If there is any way around this from the devs I’d be delighted to know of ? Anyway, this app is amazing my and would recommend ### 5/5 — Took you long enough! *2025-10-13, version 1.3.14* I don’t have a tablet so i was never able to use sudowrite on mobile before since my phone was apparently “too small”, so i am glad to finally get to mess around with it without having to be at my PC since I don’t always have access to it like i do my phone. The UI is clean and for some odd reason despite not having a subscription i was not drowned in a sea of ads within the first five minutes of using the app unlike 90% of free to use apps lol. ### 4/5 — Character creation *2026-06-30, version 2026.26.16* I love Sudowrite. It’s exactly what I needed for writing the spicier scenes in my stories and fanfiction. The AI is great to work with, and it’s become a valuable part of my writing process. The only issue I’ve run into is with character files. I keep my characters in highly detailed documents, but there’s currently no way to simply import or attach those files directly. When I try to copy and paste a long physical description into the character section, the app often freezes or crashes and closes completely. Being able to import character files, or improving the stability when pasting large amounts of text, would make the experience much smoother. ### 4/5 — Awful *2026-06-29, version 2026.26.13* Awful, app stopped working when I was doing final line edits. I was 90k words into a novel. Do not use this app it's garbage ### 4/5 — Excellent sauf les crédits non cumulables *2026-06-24* J’apprécie beaucoup cette application. Mon niveau d’écriture s’est largement amélioré grace à elle. Non pas par ce qu’elle écrit à ma place mais par ce qu’elle délivre de précieux conseils. Si je ne sais pas par où commencer je peux lui demander d’écrire dans mon style, lui donner des indications et l’inspiration repart. Le brainstorming sur le background, les personnages, l’intrigue est vraiment super. On en vient à écrire des textes dynamiques et percutants. Bref tout ce qu’il faut pour rester motivé et faire de rapides progrès. En revanche j’ai été découragé à plusieurs reprises par le fonctionnement des abonnements. J’avais pris l’abo pro. Je payais 44€ par mois. Il m’est arrivé à trois reprises de ne pas arriver au bout de mes crédits en fin de mois et au renouvellement de l’abonnement ils ont disparut. Ils ne sont pas cumulables. J’ai stoppé mon abonnement la troisième fois. J’ai perdu la totalité de mes crédits. C’est dommage car je trouvais que le prix était déjà élevé… donc pour le moment je ne me réabonne pas et je réfléchis si je vais le refaire ou pas.
