### 3/5 — Review

*2025-02-06, version 1.7.6*

Sounds good so far waiting for results

### 2/5 — Wanted to like it

*2025-01-10*

The database for adding foods and recording side effects is extremely limited. You can’t add different side effects, either. I could only get the scanner to work one time.

### 1/5 — This app doesn’t take biology seriously.

*2024-10-15, version 1.6.9*

While filling in your personal info, this app asks if you are Male, Female or “Other.” If this can’t even get basic biological sexuality correct, I wouldn’t trust it with something more complex, such as nutrition.

### 3/5 — Food Catalog and Grammar Need Work

*2024-10-07*

The app is good for tracking your sugar intake and the number of days that you’re able to remain sugar free however the food catalog needs some work. It would be nice if the foods you eat regularly were in a category of their own. Also, the grammar and spelling aren’t that great in their daily motivations and explanation of symptoms. It’s pretty obvious that their created by someone who’s primary language is not English.

We’ll see if it’s worth the $27 annual fee. I’m on day 6 of a 60-day sugar detox.

### 2/5 — Zero vegan options

*2024-10-06*

This is a terrible app for vegetarians and vegans. Even trying to find veggie patties they put it in by cup. There are zero options under protein that don’t involve animals. On top of that it is extremely hard to navigate. A lot of the goals, overlap each other, and you can’t do one without the other. Would definitely never ever recommend this to anybody who is trying to truly get healthy.

### 1/5 — Appli incompréhensible

*2024-08-31, version 1.6.8*

Appli incompréhensible tant il y a des bugd. On ne sait pas où cliquer, je ne suis jamais parvenue à me Check in je n’ai donc eu aucun suivi de ma semaine.

### 3/5 — The app needs a little tweaking

*2024-08-07*

I’ve been using the app for three days and my only complaint right now is that I can’t figure out where to change settings. I’d like to change my goal from 5 grams to the WHO recommendation. I had to make that choice before really getting started and obviously chose the wrong one for me. I used the question part of the app and it told me to go to profile/settings. I can’t find either and the in-app ? couldn’t tell me.
That being said, I like being able to track foods, add my own foods to the list, track water and sugar intake, side effects, challenges, etc. If I didn’t like the app, I wouldn’t spend all this time reviewing it for the developers.
I also wish that when adding a food, you could put the total sugar if you don’t know the breakdown between added and natural sugars.

**Developer response:** Hello 👋 thanks for the feedback. You can change your goal from 5g by selecting the “Challenges” tab on the bottom then tap the settings “cog” icon at the top right of the screen. Select change limits then sugar limit.

Thanks for the feature suggestions we will look into allowing total sugars for your own created foods.

### 1/5 — Can’t even start

*2024-07-26, version 1.6.8*

App is full of bugs and I create the account 3 times because there was no other choice to contniue and it freezes mostly

### 1/5 — Not free and expensive af

*2024-07-16, version 1.6.8*

Sugarfree but the app is not free🤢

### 1/5 — You took my money money

*2024-07-12, version 1.6.8*

I clicked for a 7 day free trial and then you debuted the annual fee straight away. I want a refund please.

### 2/5 — Just letting you know….

*2024-07-03, version 1.6.8*

It won’t let you do anything without the 30$ annual plan. Worth it? Not sure

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2024-06-07, version 1.6.7*

I tried to get a refund on this app but I couldn’t. The tracking part of the app doesn’t work. It just keeps buffering and doesn’t ever load.

### 2/5 — Can't access app

*2024-06-01, version 1.6.7*

The "start free trial" button isn't working.

### 3/5 — Good but buggy

*2024-05-29, version 1.6.7*

Good app but needs improvement on app response. I really like it shame that it’s not that responsive. Turned off my phone and signed out of the app but can’t get through the tracker tab and just keeps loading

### 1/5 — Bug sur bug

*2024-05-28, version 1.6.7*

Les intentions sont bonnes, l'approche est originale et unique mais l'interface n'est pas du tout à la hauteur du design. Compliqué d'être remboursé car facturée le 1er jour. Déception .

### 1/5 — Doesn’t accurately report progress

*2024-04-30*

I find this app not motivational at all because even when I enter “no” for “Did you manage to stay sugar-free today?” It counts that day as a sugar-free day and congratulates me for a long run streak that I don’t have. The quotes and suggestions are nice, but not as helpful as accurate run streak information would be for me.
I tried to cancel on the last day of the trial period and was still charged.

### 1/5 — Bugs affecting main feature - can’t add foods

*2024-04-12*

Whenever I tap on the “search” bar to add a food, it takes me back to the main screen. If I try to add a food manually and put my cursor on “food name” or anywhere else in the create food screen, it also bugs out and takes me back to the Home Screen.

So a major feature of your app is failing… might wanna fix that.

### 2/5 — Inaccurate

*2024-04-03, version 1.6.6*

When you select that you didn’t have a sugar free day, it will still count it in your sugar free streak. Doesn’t make sense. Great concept though.

### 2/5 — I really wanted to like this app

*2024-03-29*

I downloaded the app because I thought it would help me track my sugar intake. Unfortunately I canceled my free trial the same day I signed up. There's too many glitches in the app that make it hard to use. I can't even log in the food I eat. Whenever I try to do anything on the app it takes me back to the home screen.
Very disappointed, if it worked out for me I would have paid for the yearly subscription as I am very desperare to control my sugar. Oh well!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Blank screens

*2026-05-03, version 2.0.1*

This app sits on a blank screen whenever I try to add foods or open challenges.

### 1/5 — No point to it

*2026-02-14, version 1.7.7*

This app was not helpful and shouldn’t be charged for it. There’s really no point to having it.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2026-02-04, version 1.7.7*

Wouldn’t let me past the free sign up page unless I accepted it

### 1/5 — Subscription

*2025-09-01, version 1.7.7*

It said there was a 3-day trial version, but the money was charged immediately for a yearly subscription! Disgusting

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2025-08-13*

The description says “Sugarfree is completely free to use too” yet there is no way to access any of the app unless you sign up for a subscription. Perhaps it was referring to the three day free trial period. If that is the case then the developer needs to change the deceptive description.

### 1/5 — Don’t pay for this!

*2025-05-13, version 1.7.6*

I paid for pro but the app won’t unlock the features and I am getting zero response from the company. I don’t normally write reviews, but I don’t want this to happen to someone else.

### 1/5 — Приложение не запускается

*2025-01-22, version 1.7.6*

Открываю приложение, а там только белый экран 😭

### 1/5 — So tired of subscriptions

*2024-11-04, version 1.7.0*

If you wanted a free version - skip this app, it’s only available through monthly payments

### 1/5 — Do not but this app!

*2024-10-25, version 1.6.9*

Absolute waste of money. Please give my money back!

### 1/5 — Un timo

*2024-10-15, version 1.6.9*

Hoy he hecho me subscrito tres dias gratis y me lo han cobrado😃 encima hay muchos bugs, un cero

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Apple

*2023-01-22, version 1.4.8*

Amazing

### 5/5 — Nice app easy to use

*2022-10-21, version 1.4.8*

I am doing sugar free challenge with my partner. Really like the gamification part. Developer seems to be responsive to my feedback.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2022-05-06, version 1.3.5*

Easy too use and helpful

### 5/5 — Great but glitchy

*2022-03-10*

Love the idea, but the app won’t let me log food that is outside of the “quick add” or “common foods” section. Would be great if that part of the app could be fixed 😊

Update: problem fixed, and the customer service is incredibly kind and efficient!

**Developer response:** Hello, what happens when you try add food from search? We can try help fix the problem, thanks

### 5/5 — Country options

*2022-03-01, version 1.3.1*

Thanks

### 5/5 — Nice and easy to use

*2021-09-30, version 1.1.4*

Beautiful and fun app. Easy to use and helpful to track my diet.

### 5/5 — The idea is great

*2021-04-17*

Update: no, now I am not able to change country, I can’t find how I did it before, anyway I’ve sent you an email with more information that may help you understand me 😃
The idea is great, but you need to update the database, if I am adding a candy, that is made 100% of sugar, bread has sugar to activate yeast, etc. how am I supposed to know the amount of sugar?
I hope you solve it, the idea is great!

**Developer response:** Hi Licleto, do you know what bread you added that displayed no sugar? Glad you like the app! thanks for the feedback and we will continue updating our food database.

### 4/5 — Great idea could use some improvements

*2024-10-06*

It’s really great and it’s worked really well for me, the only issue I have is that literally every item I scan has the wrong information in it I just manually log my sugar to get around this but a feature to let you “edit” the added sugar and calorie content of items you scan would bring this up to 5 stars for me!

### 4/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2023-12-14*

I really like this app and have found that it really helps me reduce my sugar intake. Trying to not break my sugar free streak is very motivating.
However, there is room for improvement. I would be more excited about the daily check-ins if I could include more “moods” than what is offered. It would also be helpful, and more try to life, if it was possible to select more than one mood. A person’s mood can change throughout the day. Being forced to only select one is limiting and not representative of my entire day.
Overall, a very cool app.

### 4/5 — Ok

*2022-04-27, version 1.3.4*

This app was helpful in someway and helped me understand what diet are best for me however it does not do all it says recently I have not found out how to scan foods to see their sugar amounts and the diet aren’t mandatory but other than that I think this is a good app.🙃
