Another shortsighted release by Tandem. Better question, why am I still surprised by their choices? ### 4/5 — I like it...but *2026-07-29, version 4.2.3* I like this app a lot, the only issue I have is the connectivity of it, sometimes it will say haven't receive any new data for an hour, and my cgm app still tracking. The deep integration with Siri Shortcuts was awesome, to the point where I had built custom shortcuts to help me quickly log food and calculate net carbs for my Omnipod. My numbers had never been better. The new, redesigned (read: dumbed-down) version of the app removed all of the Shortcuts integrations that I relied on and my custom automations completely broke. Major downgrade and actually affected my quality of life: I can literally see the change in my average glucose numbers after my shortcuts stopped working. One year later and I still haven’t found a viable replacement app. So, so disappointing. ### 3/5 — Tweaks *2026-03-06, version 4.2* So many things I like about the app. Maybe I missed it, but I don’t see a way to connect the app to my Apple Health data. My Dexcom app is connected so I don’t have to enter things in the app. I’m not willing to add data like bolus, exercise, etc. into your app. If there’s a way to connect my Health data to this app, please let me know!! ### 5/5 — SugarMate *2026-02-24, version 4.1* This App is brilliant. It’s helped me predict levels, monitor my son remotely, share treatment info in real time between sharers (inc school/parents) and being a free App it has enabled excellent management of blood sugars. I was even sleeping really good knowing the alarms were loud and I could actually hear them not now, it suddenly disconnects for days at a time and I can’t get it to work right. I’m in search of something else at the moment because sadly this isn’t working the way it should. Idk what went wrong but I was extremely happy with it until the last couple of weeks. UPDATE: it’s still the same sadly! I really had high hopes for this app. I’m not sure what goes wrong but it’s always disconnecting or logging me off without warning. If it wasn’t for that, I’d give it 5 stars because when it works, it works amazingly!!!! ### 5/5 — Better Than Dexcom7 *2026-02-19, version 4.1* Can't get Dexcom7 to open. Says turn in notification. You’re the greatest ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Je n’aime pas sa *2026-07-22, version 4.2.3* C nul ### 1/5 — Since my iOS updated several weeks ago, my Sugarmate app crashes continuously. *2026-05-10, version 4.2.2* 5/10/26 Many foods I try to enter crash the app and do not get saved. I have given up on using Sugarmate for anything but a quick look at the carbs in foods so I can save it in my Dexcom app. I had really loved using Sugarmate but constant glitches are too frustrating. When I reached out for help, I was asked to share a video of my experience. I am not tech savvy so this request was beyond what I could provide. I used to tell everyone I knew to use Sugarmate as there are so many features. Unfortunately, it keeps breaking so I am done. 😭 12/6/24 I am updating my review based on the new version. I thought the earlier version was perfect and now I just want it back! I use Apple iOS. This new version is so jumbled that there is even writing overwritten into other writing so it is hard to read. I am now limited to scrolling through my day’s Insulin and food intake at the bottom of the page so it is difficult to see my information. I believe I lost my favorite foods that I had saved. When I search for a food, I cannot read the details or see the photos that are handy. Is there a way I can use the older version? It is really hard to accept these changes that now make Sugarmate nearly impossible to use with any efficiency. Older comments: I have been so happy with Sugarmate as it offers me so many ways to document my information. From carbs to my medications, I can monitor so much in one spot and can make notes, too. Today, I have noticed that the app thinks it is Sunday, Dec. 26, 2001. Why is the date off? I reloaded the app but it still has the wrong date. I cannot find anywhere to fix it and my Dexcom app has the current date. Am I the only one? ### 1/5 — A Shell of what it used to be *2026-04-20, version 4.2.2* I used to use this app extensively. It was a wonderfully developed app that took full advantage of what iOS had to offer. From shortcuts to Siri commands and easy data entry. After the redesign when purchased by Tandem it went down hill. They took away everything that makes the app good. No more shortcuts. The interface is harder to use and good bye Siri features. It literally takes me 5-10 minutes to enter my data now vs before I could do in seconds. So I stopped using the app because it was so cumbersome. If you just want a general log, this would be fine, but I can do the same thing using shortcuts and Apple Health faster and easier without some mega corporations having access to my data. After all that is the only reason why Tandem bought this app from the developer. ### 1/5 — Disservice of time *2026-04-16, version 4.2.2* I never write reviews if o don’t have anything nice to say. However, I have tried reaching support and it’s been a waste of time as much as trying to log into the app. I have done the deep IT into logging into the Dexcom on the browser without any issue and have the correct username and password and sugarmate continues with please trying again later something went wrong. You call tandem and they only support pump related issues. It’s devastating that everything that sugar mate promises can’t be accessed and can save life’s and also calm the deep back end of worries for our loved ones having to be monitored 24/7. Love this app! ### 5/5 — Cannot set alarms with at least the new 3.0.2 version *2026-07-29, version 4.2.3* Come on, you completely broke the « perspective » (statistics) page in french with the last version (still messed up in the version 3.0.2) and now with version 3.0.2, the app cannot keep track of the low glycemic treshold entered in the alarm page (always revert to 20 mmol as a default low glycemic treshold !!!!!!!) Losing a star with every new upgrade. This app was perfect before input from the Tandem company. Please go back to the version before 3.0 and before Tandem took control. Update: With the latest 2 updates I found back the great sugarmate app it used to be 2 or 3 years ago before version 3.
