## What is Sumut?

Sumut (suh-MOOT) shows you what you need, the moment you need it. The next prayer. The time remaining. The direction to face. Nothing more.

It runs entirely on your device. No account. No sign-in. No connection required. Your location is used to calculate prayer times and find the Qibla — and it never leaves your device.
There are no ads. There is nothing to buy. Sumut does its work in the background and stays out of your way.

Prayer times, computed for where you are:
Five daily prayers and sunrise, calculated precisely for your location. Choose from thirteen calculation methods, or let Sumut pick the right one for your country. Set your madhab. Save multiple cities. A live countdown shows the time to the next prayer at a glance.

Quiet, when you want it:
Notifications for each prayer, with your choice of adhan and haptics. A dedicated Fajr alarm for the prayer that matters most to wake for. A reminder a few minutes ahead, so you're never caught off guard.

The direction to face:
A live Qibla compass points to Makkah, with bearing and distance. Find nearby mosques when you need them.

The Hijri month, at a glance:
A full Hijri calendar beside the Gregorian one. Islamic occasions, with reminders you can add to your calendar.

The sky, honestly rendered:
Watch the sun trace its path from Fajr to Isha on an astrolabe — the instrument Muslim astronomers used for a thousand years to read the sky and find their direction. See the moon as it is tonight, with phase, illumination, and the White Days ahead.

Made for every screen:
A native Apple Watch app, with the astrolabe on your wrist and the next prayer a glance away. Widgets and complications for your Home Screen, Lock Screen, and watch face. Siri knows your next prayer, your Qibla, and today's date.

Yours:
English, Arabic, Indonesian and Turkish with full right-to-left support. Three themes, including a living sky that follows the real sun through the day. Western or Eastern-Arabic numerals. Your city and preferences sync privately across your devices through iCloud.

Sumut asks nothing of you. It simply does its work.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### iOS App Version 1.2 — 2026-07-24

Bahasa Indonesia and Türkçe

Sumut now speaks four languages. Indonesian and Turkish run through the entire app — including your home-screen widgets and the Apple Watch app — with prayer names, Hijri months, and Islamic occasions in the forms each community actually uses. Times default to the 24-hour clock where that is the local convention.

Your own adhan

Import a recording you love and use it for your prayer alerts. Most common audio formats work, including MP3, M4A, WAV, and FLAC.

Wider iPhone support

Sumut now runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

Plus refinements throughout.

### 1.1 — 2026-06-27

Azan is now available. Off by default — choose it per prayer when you want it, or keep the single note. The choice is yours.

A Control Center control puts Sumut within quick reach. Set the Fajr alarm or mute a prayer's sound directly from Control Center, without opening the app.

Viewing another city is clearer. See at a glance which city is your default, return to it in a tap, or set the one you're viewing as the new default.

Sumut now scales with your system text size, so prayer times stay legible at the size you prefer.

The high-latitude calculation now adjusts automatically, with improved accuracy for far-northern and far-southern locations.

Refinements throughout — moon rendering, card layout, and a number of visual and interface improvements.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-23
