### 4/5 — Mostly good

*2024-07-10*

I like this app a lot because it reminds me to wear sunscreen and highlights the importance of wearing spf to prevent skin cancer and premature aging. My only suggestion is that dark circles shouldn’t be categorized as a problem associated with aging. Dark circles are caused by a variety of factors and for me that is seasonal allergies. The dark circles list make my age 28 when I’m in fact 21. I also have freckles but that is more of a genetic thing or can be attributed to my skin type.

### 4/5 — Love this app, but sad about the pro cost

*2022-09-26, version 1.9.37*

Love this app! I am fair skinned and exposure conscious because wrinkles are bad in my family and I love this app. I love how it tracks your exposure, alerts you for various things as you ask it to, analyzes your sunscreen, AND SKIN via selfie.. which even if it’s not accurate it’s hella fun to use. My friend and I love to take different pictures and compare our skin age ha :). My only wish is that the free version offered what the pro version offers because you really miss out on the useful & super fun features just using the free version and although I love this app, have been using the free version for over a year now, after doing the PRO version trial and seeing what I had been missing I don’t think I can go back to using the free version. :( AND UNFORTUNATELY at $3.99 a month even if I wasn’t going through changing jobs right now and money wasn’t tight I just honestly think $4 a month is a lot. So I plan on keeping the free version of app installed on my phone, but will be on the hunt for a competitor app offering the same features seen in the Pro but for free or cheaper. :/

### 3/5 — How to improve

*2020-05-05, version 1.9.11*

I wish it were free. Every aspect of this just needs to be free. I don’t understand why you need to charge for sun exposure knowledge.

### 3/5 — Main feature costs money...

*2020-02-14, version 1.8.96*

Nice app but I don't think $4 a month to track my vitamin D is worth it 😐 Would prefer ads.

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2019-08-04, version 1.8.86*

I like how this app shows me the specific times I’ll need sunscreen.

### 4/5 — Very good

*2019-07-23, version 1.8.86*

Only complaint is that the skin analyzer may not be that accurate. It changes constantly so don’t be too hurt if it says your skin is age 40 while you’re 30

### 4/5 — Useful Tool

*2019-06-29, version 1.8.82*

I don’t have the optional hardware. The app itself is very useful and has a nice UI, but it seems like some more guidance and features would be nice. I’d love to be able to link my social media account even though I created an account with email. I’d love to save all the face scans in the app to compare with analysis info attached. I’d love Apple Health integration.

I’d also love to use this app for my service dog who goes everywhere with me. I’d love to protect him from UV rays too. Dogs are just as susceptible as humans!

### 5/5 — Amazing App

*2019-06-29, version 1.8.73*

Provides me with updates of my skin as well as how to protect it better!

### 4/5 — I love the sole focus on Sun Exposure & Vitamin D

*2019-06-21, version 1.8.73*

As opposed to another weather app that simply shows a predicted UV Index at any given time of day, this app cuts straight to it - By focusing on UV intensity as it shifts throughout a day, the necessary protective measures one may take for sufficient safety under the sun, the related effects of such exposure on various skin types, and many more topics revolving around healthy sunshine and all-important vitamin D.

### 3/5 — Could be great but some major problems

*2019-06-04, version 1.6.71*

Using with tracker:

The icons are way too small and what I really don't understand is that it is completely impossible to read in the sun where, duh, its going to be used. If you go into the shade to read then it loses the sun and the readings are no longer accurate. Either the UI needs to be redone with testing under real work conditions or there should, at least, audio alerts you can check configure to hear the safe time remaining. This was very frustrating.

Also the warning signal and vibration needs to be intensified as it is easy to miss. One tiny chirp from the device and what I believe is a single vibration from the phone is way too little and this is very dangerous!
A Watch app could fix both of the above these issues and would be a big help.

Another Huge drawback is that the app does not write Vitamin D to Apple Health. That seems like a no brainer but it is, I have to input the daily V D to another app, to get a record in Apple Health.

Fix the above and I will give 5 stars

### 3/5 — Need Subscription and Device

*2019-05-30, version 1.6.71*

The free ability to see how bad the day is gonna look for your skin type for a particular time of day is gold. But vitamin D tracking and sun exposure tracking are for those that have the premium subscription or purchase the $150 wearable device.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-05-10*

I enabled the sun tracker to track my vitamin D and it doesn’t even work after paying for the subscription. It doesn’t even track anything it just freezes even with the UVI at 7 it says I’ve gotten 0 Vitamin D after 25 minutes in the sun. I’ve reinstalled the app, checked my IOS version, and restarted my iPhone and it still does not work. Broken app. I regret paying for the subscription and would like my money back. There is a free app called Dminder and it actually works. Edit: Day 2 of trying to track and it still doesn’t work. It tried to work in the middle of the night when the sun wasn’t out. Won’t work during the day when the sun actually shines. Edit: Over a week later and the app still doesn’t work. Edit: still doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Latest version does nothing without $$

*2022-04-24, version 1.9.37*

Need $149 device to track exposure & Vit D.
Free Version does nothing. No timer no exposure. No Vit D estimate.
Latest update eliminates any usefulness of this app with paying for pro.
Free App used to let one track exposure and supplements.
Cannot even get a timer and turn notifications in current version.
Only use it occasionally so $25 a years is a no go.
Deleting app after this review.
On a side not why does the App Store keep my deleted and obsolete apps? I want them gone permanent.

### 1/5 — Bad ui, not suitable for measuring vitamin d

*2022-03-20, version 1.9.37*

I wanted a replacement for dminder because their UV for my location has been wrong, but this completely doesn’t work. It’s so confusing.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2020-07-05, version 1.9.12*

This app is ridiculous, I’m a pretty fair skinned person and it takes over two hours for me to burn, probably more, and this app gives me only 10 minutes. Stop being afraid of the sun people, it wasn’t placed in our universe by accident.

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2019-08-12, version 1.8.86*

I literally have acne all over my face, going through a bad break out and it analyzes no acne. I don’t have dark circle, but it analyze dark circle. last week it analyzes my skin age 30 and 32: this week age 36, today was 38. This is all within 2 weeks, I don’t have progeria...

### 1/5 — Extremely poor design when used with Qsun device

*2019-06-20, version 1.8.73*

This app is filled with useless clutter. It requires you to tap a TINY button to connect with the Qsun device every time you switch out of the app. There's no way to track how much exposure you've gotten already.

It also fails to detect when there is incident UV reflection from buildings, ground cover and and sky. Standing in the shade holding the Qsun device facing a sunlit white painted building in San Francisco at noon on a sunny June day produces a reading of ZERO UVI, while my skin continuous to burn.

Also only measures data every 30 seconds at most frequent setting- useless for someone with fair skin who walks in a city and is in and out of shade every few seconds.

### 1/5 — Confusing AF - Even for a social nerd..

*2018-07-13, version 1.8.27*

I’m a social nerd that loves tech, but IMHO, this app is confusing AF! I always read the intro/setup for new apps, and this one provided almost none of that. After playing around with the settings, most of the feature of this app require a “login” or creating a new account (which include the options logging in with: Facebook, Google, or a new email account). *SPOILER* after this, you have to grant access to monthly subscriptions after the 7 day trial.

Summary:
       - Needs MUCH better/more helpful user instructions.
       - Should allow an “account” to be used for users who only need the free features without paying the subscription fee.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2021-09-03, version 1.9.36*

I was really excited about this app thinking it would help me a lot more than other apps I’ve tried but all the features that downloaded the app for you can only use if you pay :/

### 2/5 — Decent App .. not able to unsubscribe or prevent auto renew

*2020-07-16, version 1.9.12*

The app is decent.. but doesn’t feel accurate without the device.

The pro sub is basically useless.. and they are constantly trying to upsell the device.

. I tried to cancel the pro sub or even not auto renew after the 7 day trial and there is no such option (in the account settings) on the App.. even though the description here says so.
Emailed support.. hopefully they will cancel.

Sneaky guys. Dishonest experience. Sad business practice.

Update - The App takes forever to start. Basically useless

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Skin Cancer

*2021-08-28, version 1.9.36*

I have had skin cancer several times. This device allows you to accurately assess your sun exposure. Only downside is that there is currently no way to attach the QSun to a watch band.

### 5/5 — Awesome idea!!

*2021-08-18, version 1.9.36*

Love this app, though for $150 for the device that I could easily loose should comes with a lifetime access to the full app not just a year. it’s pricey and so is the device but the free version helps a lot with sun exposure especially out in Colorado where the sun is intense.

### 5/5 — Extremely helpful

*2020-06-28, version 1.9.12*

This app makes it super easy to estimate how much sunscreen I should be using and how long i should be in the sun for.

### 5/5 — Loveee

*2020-06-03, version 1.9.12*

Rly cute, but nobody wants to pay for something that’s free in other apps

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2020-04-27, version 1.9.11*

It is very accurate with its readings, and its easy to navigate.

### 5/5 — Very nice

*2020-02-16, version 1.8.96*

Well put together and easy to use! Definitely plan to utilize this spring & summer!

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2019-09-04, version 1.8.86*

I just started using but so far it is definitely better than most UV apps

### 5/5 — nice app to use

*2019-08-21, version 1.8.86*

sure you have to pay for other features but the app is good in general and let’s you know the uv index and know what you should use during the time of day (sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, etc..)

### 5/5 — A must try!

*2019-07-05, version 1.8.83*

This app is absolutely wonderful I love using it daily!

### 5/5 — Great app to keep you safe.

*2019-07-05, version 1.8.83*

An awesome app to allow you to be safer in the sun.
