We’ve been playing it with friends both on the couch and over Discord, and it works fantastically either way. The app interface is designed so well that you get a very real-time feeling experience that still works in a very lag-tolerant way (eg. streaming my Switch to Discord). The gameplay itself is super fun, the voice work and art is amazing. Probably the easiest way to get into a Dungeons and dragons style rpg before taking all the time needed for the actual game. Family friendly so perfect for kids. Easy for people who wouldn’t normally play a game like this to jump right in. I’m all in and hope they release more content and maybe even a second game someday! Also coming from a 6 person family wishlist, maybe a 5-6 person game mode someday? But it’s an absolutely miserable experience when it doesn’t. And it doesn’t work a lot. I don’t have any clue what causing it to disconnect, then you have to dig through a bunch of screens on the console to reconnect. This happened four times during the initial ogre fight on the bridge. Kills any momentum and fun. If this is trying to be RPG Jackbox, it is going to need to be more consistent. Why need an app at all? You can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into this game! It's fun, and the hardest setting is really challenging, which my husband and I are enjoying playing through. We beat the game on the balanced setting and like that we can start again to discover new characters and strategies. It's a well-rounded game with fun characters, cute graphics, and excellent gameplay.
