## What is Sundle?

Sundle shows when and where the light will fall, right where you are.

Plenty of apps tell you what time the sun sets. Sundle also tells you which direction the light comes from, where shadows will lie, and where the moon and the Milky Way will sit in tonight's sky.


Today's light

See where the sun is right now. The countdown to the next golden hour runs large, with the sun's direction and shadow length resting quietly underneath.

Numbers on their own don't help much. Instead of "altitude 69.4°", Sundle says "shadows are shortest, 0.4x your height" — an angle means little to a photographer, but a shadow length means something.


Light map

The sun's direction and the shadow direction are drawn on the map. Slide through the day to see where the light will come from at three in the afternoon, so you can tell before you leave whether a building blocks it or you'll be shooting into the sun.

In AR mode, point your phone at the sky and today's solar path is drawn over the camera view.


Calendar

Move through dates to preview golden hour and blue hour. Moon phase, moonrise and moonset, and the window when the galactic center is visible are all there — along with whether moonlight will wash it out.


64 spots

Photography spots across Korea, each with its region, tags, and a short note. How open the horizon is in each direction is calculated from terrain elevation, so a sunrise trip doesn't end up behind a mountain.

You can save your own spots by tapping the map.


Reminders

Sundle lets you know before golden hour and blue hour begin — anywhere from 10 to 90 minutes ahead. It's fine if you can't make it. Tomorrow brings another.


Widgets and Apple Watch

See the time to the next golden hour from your Home Screen and Lock Screen. As it gets close, a live countdown appears on the Lock Screen.

The Apple Watch app works on its own, without your iPhone. Everything is calculated on your wrist.


Accurate

Sun calculations use the NOAA algorithm. Twenty-two verification tests check the results against published Korea Meteorological Administration values, such as the Seoul summer solstice sunrise at 05:11 and sunset at 19:57.


No internet needed

Every astronomical calculation runs on your device. It works the same in airplane mode or deep in the mountains. There is no account, no server, and your location is never stored or collected.

(Apple Maps is used for one thing only: showing the name of where you are, at the top of the screen. With no connection it simply says "Current location" and every calculation still works.)

There are no ads.

A few notes

The weather-based light score is still in progress and currently shows sample values. The app labels it that way on screen.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-01

A short hello the first time you open the app.

· Before asking for your location, it explains what the app calculates and what it does not — no weather forecast, no shooting score.
· Settings now has a Rate Sundle link.
· The rating prompt moved. It no longer interrupts you during golden hour; it waits until you come back to the app afterwards.

Fixed

· On Korean devices the location permission text appeared in English. It had been that way since the first release.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-25

밤하늘 화면에 하늘을 그렸습니다.

· 「오늘 밤」에 밤하늘 그림이 생겼어요. 가로가 방위(동·남·서·북), 세로가 고도예요. 글로만 읽던 것을 눈으로 봅니다.
· 은하수가 하늘을 가로지르는 띠로 그려져요. 은하 중심이 어디쯤인지도 표시돼요.
· 달이 실제 위상 모양으로, 그날 밤 지나가는 자리에 놓여요.
· 별 궤적의 회전 중심과 동심원이 보여요. 카메라를 어디로 두면 원이 그려지는지 바로 알 수 있어요.
· 유성우가 있는 날은 복사점이 하늘의 어느 자리인지 표시돼요.

문장도 다듬었습니다

· 은하수가 "흘러요" 대신 "하늘에 걸려요"로. 시간에 따라 움직이는 것처럼 읽히던 표현이었어요.
· 달빛이 겹칠 때 "흐릿해요"라고 단정하지 않고 "대비가 낮아질 수 있어요"로. 실제 선명도는 광공해와 대기에도 달려 있으니까요.
· "구름과 광공해는 반영하지 않아요"라고 분명히 적었어요. 도심에서는 달이 없어도 별이 잘 안 보입니다.
· 유성우 이름을 "페르세우스자리 유성우"처럼 정확히 부릅니다.
· 남반구에서도 별 궤적 회전 중심의 고도를 알려드려요.

명소의 지평선 기준을 방향별로 나눴습니다

· 일출과 은하수는 천체가 직접 보여야 해서 4°만 넘어도 가릴 수 있어요.
· 노을은 해가 넘어간 뒤 머리 위 구름이 물드는 거라 서쪽이 10°까지 막혀도 괜찮아요.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-23

밤하늘을 위한 탭이 생겼습니다.

오늘 밤

· 오늘 밤 언제가 진짜 깜깜한지 한 문장으로 알려드려요. 달이 몇 시에 지는지까지 같이 봐서 계산해요 — 보름달이라도 밤 10시에 지면 그 뒤로는 어두우니까요.
· 오늘 극대인 유성우가 있으면 알려드려요. 복사점이 몇 시에 어느 쪽에서 가장 높은지도요. 극대여도 복사점이 지평선 아래면 못 보거든요.
· 은하수가 어디서 어디로 흐르는지 방향으로 알려드려요.
· 별 궤적을 찍는다면 어느 쪽 몇 도가 회전 중심인지 나와요.
· 어두운 곳에서 눈이 부시지 않도록 붉은빛 모드를 넣었어요.

밤 계획 (Pro)

· 올해 유성우 12개를 한눈에. 각각 여기서 얼마나 높이 뜨는지, 그날 달빛이 방해하는지까지.
· 올해 은하수를 찍을 수 있는 밤이 며칠인지, 어느 달에 몰려 있는지.
· 이번 달 가장 어두운 밤 순서.

달 계산이 훨씬 정확해졌습니다

· 달 위치를 정밀 급수로 다시 썼어요. 방위 오차가 최대 13.6도에서 0.3도로, 달 뜨고 지는 시각이 15분에서 1분 이내로 줄었어요.
· 달 위상이 하루씩 어긋나던 문제를 고쳤어요.
· 서머타임이 있는 나라에서 전환일에 달 뜨는 시각을 놓치던 문제를 고쳤어요.
· 은하수 관측 창이 새벽 6시에서 잘리던 문제를 고쳤어요.

그 밖에

· 알림이 8일 뒤 조용히 끊기던 문제를 고쳤어요. 이제 두 달치를 미리 잡아둡니다.
· 명소의 지평선 기준을 방향별로 나눴어요. 노을은 서쪽이 조금 막혀도 괜찮거든요.
· 탭을 다섯 개로 유지하려고 설정을 오늘의 빛 화면 오른쪽 위로 옮겼어요.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-20

정확도를 크게 손봤습니다.

· 달 위치 계산을 정밀 급수로 교체했습니다. 방위 오차가 최대 13.6도에서 0.3도로, 달 뜨고 지는 시각 오차가 15분에서 1분 이내로 줄었습니다. 카메라를 실제로 겨눌 수 있는 정확도입니다.
· 달 위상이 하루씩 어긋나던 문제를 고쳤습니다. 이제 보름날에 보름이라고 나옵니다.
· 서머타임이 있는 나라에서 전환일에 달 뜨는 시각을 놓치거나 엉뚱하게 표시하던 문제를 고쳤습니다.
· 은하수 관측 창이 새벽 6시에서 잘리던 문제를 고쳤습니다. 위도가 높은 곳에서 최대 41분을 놓치고 있었습니다.

그 밖에

· 영어를 쓸 때 시각이 24시간제로 고정되던 문제를 고쳤습니다. 이제 오후 6시 51분처럼 나옵니다.
· 위치 권한을 주지 않으면 어느 나라에서든 서울이 나오던 문제를 고쳤습니다. 이제 기기 시간대에 맞는 도시를 씁니다.
· 위젯과 워치 화면에 한국어가 그대로 남아 있던 곳을 번역했습니다.
· 위치를 옮기면 위젯이 바로 따라옵니다. 자정이 지나면 그날 값으로 바뀝니다.
· 명소 상세에서 날짜를 무제한으로 넘길 수 있던 문제를 달력과 같은 규칙으로 맞췄습니다.
· 내장 명소를 실수로 지워도 되살아나던 문제, 지도 탭을 먼저 열면 명소가 안 보이던 문제를 고쳤습니다.
· 비행기 모드에서 Pro 구입이 잠겨 보이던 문제를 고쳤습니다.

Tap a spot

· Spots now have a detail screen. Preview golden hour, blue hour, the moon, and the Milky Way window there by date, and get directions in Maps.
· All 64 spots are on the light map. Tap a pin to open one.
· Spots sort by distance, so the ones you can reach today come first.
· The light left today is now shown on the home screen.
· Share today's light, or a spot, as a single card. Send it to whoever is coming with you.
· English is now supported.
