## What is Sungrade?

Compare saved windows for modeled direct sun during a specific date and daytime block instead of relying only on annual averages.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open Compare and tap Sun schedule.
2. Choose a date, start and end hour, and whether to rank for more or less direct sun.
3. Compare the saved windows and share the time-block report.

Saved windows, annual and seasonal comparisons, manual coordinates and plant reference tools remain available.

WHAT TO KNOW
Times use each window’s local clock and exclude the end hour. The five-minute vertical-window model uses saved facing direction and horizon obstructions. It does not measure indoor brightness, glare, heat, weather or plant growth. Glass and unsaved obstacles affect actual light. Zero modeled direct sun does not mean darkness.

iPhone and iPad.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-26

This update sharpens the interface: the iPad layout now uses a centered, comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge, plus small display fixes. iPhone is unchanged.

### 2.0 — 2026-06-21

Sungrade 2.0 — a pro upgrade for finding the right light, still 100% offline.

• DLI Estimator: a daily-light-integral profile by month with the grower band each window falls in.
• Frost & Daylight Calendar: your last-spring / first-fall frost and growing-season length, by latitude.
• Sun Moments: sunrise, solar noon, sunset, golden hour, and civil twilight for any day.
• Shade Mapping: mark obstructions on an 8-sector horizon dial — the grade and DLI adjust for blocked sun.
• PDF Light Report: a one-page, printable report you can share.
• Care reminders: on-device watering and rotation nudges on a light-aware cadence.

No account, no network — every reading is computed on your device.

### 1.3 — 2026-06-20

Month-by-month sun chart - every window detail page now shows a 12-bar chart (Jan-Dec) of daily-average direct-sun hours, so you can see exactly when the shoulder months hit and plan plant moves accordingly. The best and worst month are highlighted and the annual swing is calculated.

Golden hour bands - if "Highlight golden hour" is on in Settings, the sun arc chart now shades the 60 minutes after sunrise and before sunset in amber, showing the soft warm light that's ideal for portrait photography and for hardening-off sun-sensitive plants.

Expanded plant database - 51 plants total (up from 43). Eight new species: Pilea (Pilea peperomioides), Calathea Medallion, Alocasia Polly, String of Hearts, Bird's Nest Fern, Neon Pothos, Fishbone Prayer Plant (Ctenanthe), and Iron Cross Oxalis - all with scientifically-grounded light-tolerance ranges.

Richer share report - the text export now includes the full month-by-month table with peak and lowest months marked, plus the annual light swing, so the report you forward to a landlord or plant friend is fully self-contained.
