The app shouldn’t even let you get past the “pay at pump” screen if that’s a requirement. ### 3/5 — Impossible to reach customer service. *2026-06-29, version 4.1.0* App does not give the discount advertised with linked account. ### 2/5 — Not usable *2026-06-03, version 4.1.0* The app is effectively unusable to me as a new user. There are two issues that block me from using it. 1) I can’t verify my email. I can send the code, but when I go to my email to get it then back to the app, the app resets to the home screen. 2) I can’t add a payment method. When I click through ‘add a payment method’, I get prompted for Face ID or passcode. I authenticate, but the app again just resets to the home screen. ### 2/5 — It works when it wants to *2026-04-20, version 4.0.3* I have my bank account set up on the app aswell as Sunoco rewards. Almost every single time I go to get gas at Sunoco, it doesn’t verify my rewards nor will it let me use my bank account. I keep having to remove my BA and add it in a week later for it to work one time. Then the next time I go and use it, it doesn’t work again. I just used my credit card which is on the Sunoco app and it didn’t give me my 3 cents off a gallon. Irrevocability: If your password is stolen, you can change it. If your biometric data (fingerprint or face scan) is breached, it is compromised forever. Physical Coercion: A person can be forced to unlock their phone while asleep, unconscious, or incapacitated. Spoofing and Hacks: Researchers have demonstrated that biometric sensors can be fooled by 3D-printed heads, high-resolution photos, or "masterprints" (synthetic prints that match many people). UPDATE to DEVELOPER: you seem to have your facts wrong. Apple iOS does not require biometrics to be enabled at the system level. I have biometrics completely off with no Face ID ever recorded on my phone, and I can still access all my financial payment apps & every major CC and banking app with a passcode. Sunoco is the ONLY one that is the problem. Even apple wallet is done with a passcode and no FaceId. We’d like to clarify how authentication works in our app. For security reasons, iOS requires biometrics to be enabled at the system level to access the device passcode fallback. When biometrics are enabled, users can always authenticate by intentionally failing Face ID or Touch ID and then entering their device passcode. Our app does not collect, store, or access biometric data. All authentication is handled entirely by iOS using Apple’s secure system APIs. Biometrics (with passcode fallback) are used only to authorize payment related actions, such as adding or editing a payment method, paying at the pump, or paying inside the store. Biometric data never leaves the device and is never available to us. This approach ensures that sensitive payment actions are protected by Apple’s platform level security. ### 1/5 — 1 Time Verification *2026-02-24, version 3.67.4* How am I suppose to save money and give you my money if you guys won’t send me a 6 digit verification code? At some point it began demanding Face ID in order to use the app, which I absolutely will not do because of security issues. So I guess I’ll be getting my gas elsewhere. Please fix this !!!! ### 1/5 — Glitchfest *2026-02-07, version 3.67.4* Installed app on both iPhone & iPad. Verification process in setup was a a miserable experience. Finally got that done, but it won’t let me add a payment method. As soon as I click ‘add a payment method’ it gives me a quick glimpse of the screen where I’d select the type of payment method, but then takes me back to the Home Screen before I can actually enter it. I tried again & again. As opposed to more customer-friendly gas station rewards programs (ExxonMobil+ & Shell Fuel Rewards, for example), you CANNOT get a discount without paying thru this super glitchy app that won’t take my credit card info. Garbage. Sunoco requires you to use the app everytime to get their small $0.03/gal discount.
