In my view, the contact app isn't fundamentally broken. That really makes sense. Having all your contacts in one place and be able to know as much information about each person is important. They have knocked it out of the park with organize contacts. Contact organization should be easy but it’s not. And no one until now has been successful in correctly merging, De-duplicating & marking obsolete contact data. A very useful and easy way to organize and update your contacts. ### 5/5 — Saved my life after losing contacts while switching phones. *2023-02-06* I recently upgraded phones and lost tons of my contacts via Apple’s data transfer process. My heart dropped when I realized what happened. Luckily Sunshine had them saved! Thanks to the Customer Support team! ### 3/5 — Advantages? *2023-02-02, version 1.31* I have to go back and look at the list of advantages this app claims to have over other contact apps, as I haven't noticed any on my own yet. And I have noticed that Sunshine does seem to handle contacts without a personal name even less skillfully than Apple's contacts app does– I add a company to my contacts, as a company, without any personal name (because I don't have a personal name for the company) and the company doesn't show up in my list of contacts at all - not even when I do a search for it. The contact has simply disappeared. There is also no way to get rid of the giant annoying prompt to sync your Google contact list that takes up a third of the screen at the top of your contacts list. Don't use Google contacts? Doesn't matter: we're still going to prompt you, largely and loudly, every single time you open the app, to sync that contact list you don't have. And if you write to us to ask whether this giant annoying prompt can be removed, we will ignore your email. Pretty great, huh? I haven't used the app heavily yet, which may be the reason I haven't found any reasons to love it yet. But so far I haven't found any reasons to love it, and have found two reasons not to. And now I have gone back and looked at the list of touted advantages to this contacts app and have found no real ones. At least none that apply to me as a non-user of Google contacts. All the supposed advantages of this app appear to me to be things Apple's Contacts app already does just fine. If this was ten years ago and the App Store was smaller - I feel like they would have been banned for this behavior. Either way - this isn’t a path to success. ### 1/5 — Think twice - Privacy Policy Has Holes *2023-10-26, version 1.3.122* Behind the scenes, this app sends an email to people in your address book with all of your contact information, including your physical address. If there are people in your address book who you don’t want to receive that, you’re screwed. ### 1/5 — False advert *2023-07-24, version 1.3.114* Wanted a vcf importer. Not to upload my contacts to some unknown dev. Not cool. ### 1/5 — Don’t even waste your time trying it *2023-05-21, version 1.55* Doesn’t work with Outlook, Hotmail and didn’t even do anything to Gmail (personal or corporate). Interface is atrocious, no bulk tools to clean or remove. Very limited functionality. Despite paying, it didn’t seem to synch or cleanse anything. Fine. Then you scroll down through your contacts and the same logo stays always at the top of the screen taking up 20% of your screen real estate. I got an email from Marissa Meyer talking about how much you have learned leading up to v2 release. Well you haven’t learned to put basic user functionality at the forefront.… anyone so blindly in love with their own branding over and above user functionality is a no-go for me. Don’t care how good the product may be… ### 2/5 — Too Expensive *2023-03-05, version 1.33* 9.99 a month for contact management is very over priced. ### 2/5 — What is this supposed to do? *2023-01-28* I must have done something wrong because I didn’t see this do anything. It didn’t import contacts I had in my phone and when I deleted them it didn’t change my other contact lists. I didn’t see any functionality that made me say “this is great and I need this contacts app.” I was excited about this for like two years after I saw the marketing about it. I’m constantly looking for another solution. I’ve tried them all I won’t even bother to list them there’s too many, when I saw the Sunshine description it sounded very much like many others I have tried However this one is the real deal It worked the first try I didn’t lose anything it cleaned up my contacts. It syncs perfectly with iCloud and LinkedIn and I’m about to try to sync it with Google as well so I can get all of my contacts into a single database. Thank you thank you thank you. ### 5/5 — The Matrix *2024-02-28* Over the years I have had multiple contact files uploaded into my devices causing triplicate and even quadruple contacts over time. I’ve lost details, information has merged into the wrong fields, numbers have criss crossed and it’s been incredibly unorganized and frustrating. I handle property threatening emergencies where looking someone up is critical. Sunshine saved my life and in many respects, my career. This app instantly organized my contacts and with minimal effort on my part. The best thing is, it continues to work behind the scenes to notify me of discrepancies so I can quickly correct them.
