The art is amazing, the bosses are fun with a lot of variety, and each character plays differently, allowing for different play styles. Most importantly, despite having ads, they aren’t too annoying; unless you specifically watch an ad to continue, you won’t get videos, so you can play the game while listening to something in the background (a rarity nowadays). There is one major issue: the controls are abysmal. People have already said that, but those problems are magnified when played on a huge iPad screen. The joystick is placed awkwardly out of the reach of my thumbs and I find myself missing the fire button some of the time as well. I agree with other reviewers, they need to be overhauled. Keyboard or controller support would easily elevate this to an easy 5/5. I’ve actually already completed this game 100% in the short time I’ve had it. So please understand that my critiques come from a place of love for it. This game has enough levels to keep you occupied for awhile. All the levels are unique and being able to unlock characters for free when passing a level is rewarding. Even after I oneshot spectrum in 22 seconds using a 37 chain, I still didn’t get a three star. Not only that, but for a level so reliant on getting refills on your bullet gauge, the refill stars are amazingly inconsistent, and sometimes there are none on the screen, forcing you to give up your chain. While building up your chain, spectrum might also randomly miss the bounce back. These factors make playing the last level past a few times for three stars infuriating and monotonous, as after you get a basic grasp of the strategy, it is completely rng reliant. For anyone who’s wondering, I got 3 stars on the level after a particularly lucky run. The minimum combo to oneshot spectrum is 29 and I got that in 18.6 seconds. ### 5/5 — Absolutely Amazing *2021-07-15, version 1.0.27* Everything is great, there are ads but they’re not video ads or dumb game ads, they’re just an image and a instant x button. From the pallets to the cute bosses and characters but both me and my sister had this problem where out of no where the game will crash and shut down and never work again. No matter if we offload it, restart the phone, or refresh the game. I absolutely love all the beautiful colors and how adorable the little characters are! (some of my personal favorites is Jasper and Tourmaline, they’re super cracked!) but don’t worry all of them are so freakin cute and, all quite strong!!) I already know good and well this game is literally gonna make headlines! I already beat the whole entire game in a day because I immediately HOOKED. I look forward to the future of this game, and I can guarantee that this game is STAYING on my phone forever. Response to some of the other reviewers: Also, to all the people talking about how the joystick acting up, this game is pretty new so please don’t expect this to be absolutely perfect. The creator(s) still have much to do and more to work on, so please focus on the good stuff about the game, such as the pretty colors and the adorable characters instead of the minor problems. They will work on it :) About the final boss, Specter or Spectrum LOL: Ok, so the final boss was pretty cool! It was very interesting and challenging! (took me like 50 minutes to defeat her lol) I also loved the GameBoy feel of the levels Palette! A little constructive criticism: As many have said, the joystick controls are a little jittery, but really other than that it’s a very clean game. Also, I absolutely adore the fun and cute soundtracks! Please keep up the fantastic work! The color palettes are amazing, the characters are great (obsidian is cracked), and the bosses are super fun. My one problem is that the joystick is in a bit of an odd place so sometimes I won’t be able to move correctly and I’ll lose a heart. It’s a bit problem for me personally but I thought I should mention it. I’ve always been a fan of the retro-y type stuff and the pixel art and animations were great. Second, the gameplay is so fun. The variety between characters and bosses adds a lot to the game, especially for more unique bosses such as Ace Avocado. There is a lot more gameplay than I thought there would be, which is a huge plus. In addition, the star system adds replay ability after beating certain bosses. Finally, the soundtrack is FANTASTIC. I loved jamming out to the nice music while beating bosses.
