### 2/5 — Broken.

*2026-08-11, version 1.3*

Tapping the settings locks up the app. Sometimes the day/night switch locks up the app. Changing the difficulty, because it doesn't remember your choice, sometimes locks up the app.

### 4/5 — Fun Time Waster with Issues

*2017-02-15, version 1.3*

It's fun, but looking for more content.

The game could have used a tutorial of some sort to explain how the buildings work.

### 3/5 — Meh

*2017-02-14, version 1.3*

I expected there to be a bit more to it, but there wasn't. This is essentially the same version as the web browser one that came out a while ago. Fairly straight forward match 3 with some strategy elements.

### 3/5 — Saving Issue

*2017-02-06, version 1.3*

I love this game, I played it when it was on PC, but I've had saving issues. Whenever I close out of the game and go back into it, it'll delete my progress. I hope I'm not the only one having this issue.

### 2/5 — Bugs not hugs

*2017-02-04, version 1.3*

Really enjoying the game but the bug freezing the game is really irritating. I wished the game was more polished.

### 2/5 — Ok, but I don't get the point

*2017-02-03, version 1.3*

I match three until I die? Why? I wanted to support the creator of A Dark Room, but I'm left disappointed.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2017-01-31, version 1.2*

"Buggy" is an accurate word for this game. The crashing. The way the puzzle will not load properly. This feels like a rushed project. The game is okay when you get the hang of it. But you don't get any useful information from the game. You have to google it. It's not an expensive game and somehow the asking price feels like more than it is worth.

### 4/5 — Worthwhile

*2017-01-30, version 1.2*

It's a strategic match 3 along the lines of You Must Build a Boat, which I enjoyed about the same amount. It gets a bit repetitive by the end, but overall it's good entertainment for the few hours needed to win.

### 2/5 — Not worth paying for

*2017-01-29, version 1.1*

I grabbed this after glowing reviews and I'm pretty disappointed. The reviews mislead me into thinking there was more depth. It's apparently just another dull matching game with crap graphics and no real story or hook to keep it interesting for long at all.

### 5/5 — Seems simple but with hidden depth!

*2017-01-29, version 1.1*

Seems like a simple match game, but opens up to lots of clever mechanics as you play further. The need for levelling up the buildings and defeating certain enemies becomes clear as you progress. I'm currently stuck on what I assume is the last boss, it's really tough but has been rewarding getting there!

### 5/5 — Persévérance

*2017-01-26*

### 5/5 — A dark room

*2017-01-25, version 1.1*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unplayable

*2021-09-28, version 1.3*

Loved the game online, game on iPhone is too buggy, if squares drop in between rounds the games freezes.

### 1/5 — Screen froze

*2021-01-22, version 1.3*

Screen froze within 10 minutes of playing. Terrible.

### 1/5 — Lots of bugs

*2017-05-01*

I tried restarting multiple times but the game would crash at Day 2 over and over again.

*2017-02-16, version 1.3*

### 1/5 — It's fun for 5 min...

*2017-02-10, version 1.3*

It's fun for the first little bit and then gets pointless. You don't earn anything you don't progress. Building the buildings seems pointless. Combos don't reward you with anything. It's a good attempt but in my opinion ultimately fails to be fun or grab my attention. An example of a better game.. again in my opinion is you must build a boat.

### 1/5 — Sehr langweilig

*2017-01-26*

### 1/5 — Bad

*2017-01-24, version 1.1*

Instantly feels cheap and nasty. Don't waste your cash on this. No idea how or why it was featured... must have friends at Apple !!

### 1/5 — What's going on?

*2017-01-23, version 1.1*

I got it but its pretty bad i cant recommend it. Theres stuff happening but it barely seems connected to ehat you do. You're matching tiles for what purpose? My dude on the top screen died and im not sure why? Why anything?

The game is either so opaque about its mechanics or its what it is and is stupidly simple. Either way its not any fun.

### 1/5 — Crashes or hangs too easily

*2017-01-22, version 1.1*

Not worth buying till issues are resolved.

### 1/5 — Do not buy

*2017-01-22, version 1.1*

Sososososo bad not sure what I was to expect, but for £1.99 I thought it would last me more than 5 mins.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Incredible genre busting

*2024-10-15, version 1.3*

I never write review but is there anything genre this dev cannot reinvent? Just like a dark room redefined the idle clicker, this redefines the match 3 genre. Incredible. Buy it.

### 5/5 — Match 3 with a layer of mystery

*2020-09-07, version 1.3*

No instructions here, but it’s a lot of fun paying attention to cues, to work out what’s going on and unlock a bunch of cool stuff. A super mini-epic!

### 5/5 — Super clever and cool

*2020-08-06, version 1.3*

I randomly found this game and I’m so glad I did. You dive in and little by little figure out how to progress. It’s challenging but not frustrating. It’s very well designed, and it saves your progress. It’s an intelligent match game. Very fun.

I also appreciate that there are no ads or IAPs, just a fair price up front. Thank you developer for a great game. I hope you have others in the pipeline, we need more good ones like you. This is a clever match game that’s different from others out there. Totally worth trying out!

### 5/5 — Unsure? Goto their site and try the game!

*2017-03-07, version 1.3*

For those of you unsure, you can go to their website and actually play the game to get a feel for it. I wish all developers gave us the chance to do this. I always appreciate it when I come across one that does. It's like Christmas.

This is a great quick fix game. If you like matching puzzle's like candy crush/zombie-ish creatures and you only have five minutes, this is the one. It's simple enough to learn and clever enough to keep you interested. I've got to give these developers a thumbs up for originality and the humor in it as well.

Thanks guys and keep up the good work I'm a huge fan!

### 5/5 — Fun game!

*2017-02-12, version 1.3*

Simultaneously liked and disliked the lack of instructions. There were aspects of night-vs-day switching that I didn't understand until I googled it. The fighting and building aspects on the other hand were intuitive and easily discoverable.

Great game!

Minor bug: tiles don't fill entire screen if you're dragging a tile while you're being switched from day-to-night or vice-versa.

### 5/5 — Fantastic game

*2017-02-03, version 1.3*

Lots of fun. Surprisingly deep.

### 5/5 — Addicting! And forgiving.

*2017-02-01, version 1.2*

I've really loved this games progress and what it looks like to figure out how to live and stay alive and find the best way to do that. I will say though that I recently got to day 75 where the food turns to chicken legs and I don't seem to be making any more progress. I just gather resources and they go to nothing. Not sure if I broke the game or beat it. Haha

### 5/5 — Uniquely deep adventure match game

*2017-01-31, version 1.1*

The bad: no tutorial but there is a great Reddit on how to play and strategy. The ugly: There is the occasional bugs that cause a restart.

The fantastic: Incredibly deep strategy between day and night transitions, resource collection and fighting. Wonderful hidden gem on the app store. Great for anyone liking strategy RPG. Difficulty is perfect when the hidden strategies are learned.

### 5/5 — I <3 this game.

*2017-01-30, version 1.2*

This game is addictive and rewarding. But you need to pay attention to what is happening or you'll find yourslef mauled to death by rats and zombies.

### 5/5 — Addictive Progression

*2017-01-29, version 1.1*

Day 26. Love the game. Can't stop playing it. I like the day/night cycle mechanic and how the choices you make in one can impact the next. I like the original Gridland and this is a massive improvement. Well done.
