The core gameplay, the look, the sounds are all essentially the same, but the only game mode is a short 2-minute game that ends right when the truly fun part is about to begin. There isn’t even an obvious reason not to, have an endless mode, as this is an Apple Arcade game that isn’t trying to get you to buy credits or manipulate you. For example, like the 2 monsters are red and yellow, but the tower only gives me like green and blue. Also silver and bronze, but I don’t know if I can give that to them. (End of example) and there should be a gold for getting 6 silvers. How come before the wrong colors start appearing when you just started a game you get all right colors? Because I don’t know what to do, I quit the round. You launched it and immediately started a frenetic game with a constant stream of satisfying action to see how long you could last. Now, it has an artificial two minute time limit that kicks in right when things start to get fun, and worse, the game now has coins you must grind to earn boosts and feels like yet another terrible free-to-play game, even though it’s an Apple Arcade offering. Most of your time will be spent managing this economy that now infects the game and sitting through a constant barrage of interstitial animation screens rather than actually experiencing the great gameplay it now drip feeds you. After Smash Hit + seemingly being identical to Smash Hit, it’s beginning to look like this whole Apple Arcade monthly payment thing could be turning into a bit of a con. Please say it isn’t so. The game has a 2 minute time limit that feels like when you’re chewing on sunflower seeds and one of the seeds turns up empty. The game USED to have no time limit and was more about how long you could last. Now it seems to be focused on grinding for in game currency to get boosts to grind for more coins to get more boosts…it’s not fun. I already have to pay for Apple Arcade, why make a game that feels like if it wasn’t on Apple Arcade it would have tons of micro transactions?
