### 2/5 — Ok when their servers are up and running but…

*2025-01-02, version 1.7.1*

The app is ok (apart from being very fiddly to setup) but I’ve noticed that their servers seem to regularly go down during public holidays and don’t get rebooted until somebody is back in the office - leaving you unable to control your device.

### 1/5 — Can someone recommend an alternative?

*2025-01-01, version 1.7.1*

Unusable I cannot log into the app, says network busy. So completely useless as a remote access facility. Does anyone know of a better solution that actually works. I simply want remote access to my immersion tank. Help please!

### 1/5 — Can’t recommend this.

*2025-01-01, version 1.7.1*

I’ve had 6 WiFi fused spurs for garden lights for several years now. The hardware has proven very good but the app and servers that support this are low quality and go offline more than they should. When that happens the spurs can only be operated manually and if you have put them in an easy to reach location (oops) then you are a bit screwed.

The Timeguard servers have been offline for several days now rendering my system dumb. When I find a suitable replacement I’m changing them all.

### 1/5 — App down for 3 days

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Really frustrating and very inconvenient. Please get this sorted. This appears to happen every time there is an update!!!!

### 1/5 — App dead 5 days and counting

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Are everyone at Time Guard celebrating Christmas and new year? But my holiday has been no hot water for 5 days due to this awful app. Total shambles!

### 1/5 — Not working

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Apparently the sever hosting this app was down for a few days. I cannot control the power of my water tank. Anyone pls fix it

### 1/5 — Junk

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Used to be a bit old fashioned, with a quirky UX, but at least it worked. Now it doesn’t even do that.

### 1/5 — Very Poor App

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

This app is awful. Constantly goes down for days on end so WiFi function can’t be used, just have to manually override by pressing the button on the switch. Just got a new WiFi switch fitted not by this brand, would urge everybody else to do the same!

### 1/5 — App is useless

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

The app is useless and always stops working. As does the thermostat. AVOID. the app has been down for me for several
days so have had to manually turn my boiler on and off

### 1/5 — App not working

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

App no longer working. Won’t let me login in nor do a password reset. Can the developer help with this as need it.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t even let you log in

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

I haven’t been able to use this app for over 3 days, I have got this device to use it from my phone not to go and turn it on from the switch because sometimes I’m not home when I need to turn it on. Such a waste of money and disappointment. I will be buying a different device that uses a different app because this is seriously just a joke.

### 1/5 — Logs me out regularly

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Great idea, delivered poorly. Despite ticking remember me the app regularly logs me out. It is cluncky and its not working (December 2024). I cannot control my appliances as it is refusing to let me log in with “networt error” sic. Clicked on ‘forgotten password’ which I haven’t and the link the app sends does zero. Also have a long standing error whereby messages come up saying that my wifi signal is weak when the router is in next room.

### 1/5 — App Down

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Cannot connect to the app and unit is flashing blue for no known reason other than it cannot connect. Please sort it out asap, quite frustrating.

### 1/5 — App goes down constantly

*2024-12-30, version 1.7.1*

App goes down all the time so you either then have to leave the appliance on all the time or switch it off. The whole purpose of us buying the switches was to use the schedule and half the time it doesn’t work. Very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2024-12-30, version 1.7.1*

Can’t log into my app at all. What’s happened?

### 1/5 — Shocking

*2024-12-30, version 1.7.1*

Appalling app, renders hardware useless. Shocking. Used to work, in a fashion, for 2 years whilst offering functionality and user interface like something from the early 1980’s, but has recently stopped working altogether - can’t login, can’t reset user details, hardware no longer connects to WiFi… brilliant!

### 1/5 — Dead

*2024-12-30, version 1.7.1*

The app is dead, no response, not functioning.

### 1/5 — Very poor

*2024-12-29, version 1.7.1*

Either outsourced or just terribly implemented. Been logged out and unable to login for several days now. UI has always been poor but now underlying cloud infrastructure is offline the device is dumb. Slow hand claps all round!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Support withdrawn?

*2026-02-02, version 1.7.4*

App no longer controls my Timeguard switch. Built in obsolescence? Just says “upgrade to FSTWIFITU”. Nope, will upgrade to another manufacturer that doesn’t dump customers with useless tech.

### 1/5 — very basic app

*2025-11-23, version 1.7.4*

it simply wont connect to my timeguard switch and keeps timing out when connecting to my wifi.. 2025 and we have Ai capabale of anything and here we are dealing with an app that feels like it was created on a zx spectrum from the 80’s.. who are these developer’s? 100% he is over 70

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-11-17, version 1.7.4*

Trying to connect my cooker system via this app and it is terrible to set up if you change WiFi. I hate using it.

### 1/5 — Dreadful app

*2025-07-16, version 1.7.2*

This is so dire! It worked for a couple of months, then for no reason our user details were “invalid”.
We tried everything, changed passwords, user names, etc. ad infinitum.
The website has no sign in options, so we can’t change details there.
Therefore we have 2 very expensive, ordinary switches to control our Aga, as the WiFi element is unusable!

### 1/5 — Stay away

*2025-07-04, version 1.7.2*

Just bad, bad, bad. Nothing good to say! Minus five stars!

### 1/5 — Constantly goes down

*2025-04-28, version 1.7.2*

Unfortunately had these fused spurs for 6 years, the servers constantly go down so you can’t login to the app and the switches don’t work (currently down again). Stay away from this product, I regret it every month.

### 1/5 — Does not connect properly, no support

*2025-04-14, version 1.7.2*

The app is very outdated! It does not connect to the device, even with the correct Wi-Fi and password the app insists on not connecting. No support for this problem. Very bad app, old, without evolution, without technology.

### 1/5 — Dear Developers - Please read some of the comments here

*2025-01-10, version 1.7.1*

This App could be so much better. It’s very clunky, fiddly and i’m afraid tedious to navigate. However, it performs a solid function namely wifi timed power supply. Please could we finally have an overhaul / signifiant update?

### 1/5 — Good App when working

*2025-01-02, version 1.7.1*

This app is not supported out of working hours. They don’t bother to maintain it unless they are at work. So it can be down during a long holiday period !!

### 1/5 — Absolutely awful

*2025-01-01, version 1.7.1*

Unfortunately the electrician I used fitted a timeguard switch and therefore I’ve had to put up with this app for the last 3 years. Initial set up was a nightmare and there have been intermittent issues along the way ever since. However for the last 4 days now the app seems to have packed up and I can no longer log in at all and the heating programme appears to have been wiped. So no hot water without manually operating the switch. It’s incredibly poor that despite all the bad reviews going back years this company has done nothing to address the app issues. Constant failed log in attempts are met with a “networt” busy message. I guess that typo tells you everything you need to know about the quality of this app.
I now have a useless switch that I’ll need to replace purely to be able to use a different app which will hopefully actually function and be nowhere near as poor a quality as this stupid app and company.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great helpline!

*2025-01-02, version 1.7.1*

I’ve used this app for a few years now and it’s generally reliable. When it occasionally fails the helpline number is answered straight away by a human being!

### 5/5 — Very Impressed

*2021-04-28, version 1.6.6*

After reading some of the reviews of this app and product I wasn’t really expecting much to be honest.
However, I think some of the reviews are slightly unfounded.

This is my experience.
Once I finally managed to pair the app to the device, which did take a while as I had to pair it to another phone’s hotspot first, it has been faultless so far.

I use it to remotely control my immersion heater in my holiday home.
The app is a little basic, which makes It easy to use and extremely stable.
The only point I would make is, my unit is in a warm boiler cupboard and I had slightly over tighten the screws on the unit itself, this must and stressed the plastic ever so slightly, and as the plastic got warm it would expand which in turn kept activating the override button and not automatically re-entering auto mode which was a pain.
Since I backed the screws off slightly its been brilliant.

Ive been using this a few weeks now and had zero problems logging on to the app or my account, and no problems with is going off line or disconnecting.

Would definitely recommend.

### 5/5 — DONT USE NON ALPHANUMERICS IN PASSWORD

*2021-03-31, version 1.6.6*

Lots of negative reviews on the App Store for this app ....I resolved this problem simply by a quick phone call to the helpline and I was told not to use non-Alphanumeric characters in the password.

All works fine now. I don’t know if you can update this on the App Store so that people are are clear they should not use any additional characters in their passwords and would negate a lot of the negative reviews.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2021-02-08, version 1.6.6*

Bit fiddly to get it set up on Wi-fi initially , but I think that was down to the strength of the Wi-fi signal in my house. Once up and running an absolutely superb addition to the controllability of my heating system.

I would thoroughly recommend this device.

### 5/5 — Must be on 2.4ghz

*2018-11-12, version 1.6.2*

Like loads of reviews, it stopped working after about 3 weeks. Disabled 5ghz WiFi on SkyQ box and it has worked without fault ever since. Either disable 5ghz or run 2.4 and 5g separately, SkyQ by default sets both the same.

### 4/5 — Usually really useful for smart hot water immersion switches

*2024-12-31, version 1.7.1*

Does seem to usually work and I don’t normally have problems …. Except this week .. I think you need you use it only when you are on wifi not 4g .. I now can’t seem to be able to open / log into my account and I’ve left the hot water on timer… so I can’t now turn it off… ughhh

### 4/5 — The app has stopped login in

*2023-04-18, version 1.6.7*

Hi
The app use to work perfectly but has suddenly stopped working since 17/04, not sure why? Please can you have a look and respond. Have tried to reconnect but as it is not logging in I cannot make any changes
Thanks

### 4/5 — Not a bad piece of kit

*2022-03-05, version 1.6.6*

I was very sceptical about installing the timer switch due to reading all the reviews on here.
However, I’ve come to the conclusion that the majority of them are from people who didn’t read the instructions properly or maybe aren’t very tech savvy. It was really easy to set up and i now have full control over my water heater wherever I am. I can set any sort of custom timers throughout the week and save them. I can choose holiday mode when I’m away and have hot water waiting when I get home. I’m expecting this item to save me a few ££s on my energy bill now as I can easily switch off the timer when I’m out if I know I won’t need hot water again until morning.
I would give it 5* but it is still early days so it could fail on me at some point but so far so good.

### 4/5 — App is clunky but works fine

*2019-02-11, version 1.6.2*

The app is poorly designed and ugly, but it does everything properly. I use it to control a TimeGuard 16A immersion heater controller (NTTWIFI) and I love it. It’s very convenient to be able to reprogram the hot water anywhere I have an iPhone signal. If I’m away for the night I can switch off the hot water, and if I’m coming home at an odd time I can hit the boost button in the app so there’s a hot bath ready to run. I’m sure it will save me enough energy to pay the cost of the device. I did follow the instructions and set up the device using only the 2.4 GHz WiFi band. That might explain some people’s problems. I’d love a nice re-design of the app, as long as it continues to work properly!

### 4/5 — Good product - needs a few tweaks

*2019-01-07, version 1.6.2*

Easy to install, does the job.

App interface good, but could do with some improvements as some actions not intuitive around the schedule setting - feels as if only the developer tested it, no UX expert involved.

No obvious place to sent requests for change on the website.

Biggest quirk is that the physical button on the device forces a permanent ON or OFF. So if someone hits it who doesn’t have the app, the time schedule stops!! Would like to software define this as either ADV, or BOOST+1 instead.
