## What is Surgery 101?

Welcome to SURGERY 101, an app intended to help medical students learn about basic surgical topics. We've aimed to cover a single topic in 10-20 minutes so that students can quickly get a good idea of the basic concepts involved. Every episode is divided into chapters and concludes with several key points to summarize the topic. We are keen to receive feedback on our podcasts, and are accepting suggestions for additional topics. New episodes are published every Friday.

SURGERY 101 was created by Dr Parveen Boora and Dr Jonathan White, and is supported by the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta. This series of podcasts is brought to you by the Undergraduate Surgery Mobile Podcasting Studio Team which is: Jonathan, Shannon, Jenni, Kat and Tracy, with the assistance of the Surgery 101 Experts of Edmonton. 

Note to Experts: these podcasts are only intended as brief introductions for medical students - we cannot delve into the more complex nuances of advanced surgery in a short podcast. We encourage all listeners to supplement their learning by seeing patients, assisting at surgeries and reading widely!

Im studying for my Physician Assistant Recertification Exam (PANRE), this is an excellent review for most general practice (FP, urgent Care, ER) PAs. I cant think of a better way to get insight into when to refer out then to get the surgeons point of view. I feel this app/podcast cuts out the chaff, so I can get the crux of the task at hand so I can get on with my day. After listening to an episode, if I have questions, I look up the answers. I cant think of a better way to study for my PANRE than this. Thanks to all the docs who put this together.
