### 4/5 — Half hearted attempt at a favorite game

*2023-06-14*

I enjoyed playing the the other Sushi Cat games online over the past few years. These had little video vignettes after you finished a level that told a simple, fun and progressive story. There were also a nice variety of music. Nothing in this app compares. The cat yowls annoyingly in the background and it’s the same music for all 100 levels. What is most frustrating is the missing words. For example the top word might be “remarked,” but simple anagrams like marker or mare are not be included. In some cases the top word isn’t English or a proper noun. For example Ricotta, which is an Italian word and type of cheese. Overall it’s a half hearted attempt at an app and not worthy of a Sushi Cat fan’s time.

### 5/5 — Better than Toro

Glad to see my favorite cat is back for a new adventure! The animations, sound and art make for an adorably fun time.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — unsatisfied.

*2020-11-28*

having to pay $5 A MONTH just to play past the first 20 LEVELS is not cool.

**Developer response:** Sushi Cat Words is not an individual subscription, it's part of a larger library of curated games.

Though access to all of the hundreds of levels is only included with a subscription, the free version lets you play the full first sequence so you can get a taste of the game. We also offer a free trial (that you can cancel at any time) so you can play this or any game in our library as much as you want before spending money. Thank you for trying this out!

### 1/5 — To expensive for kids

*2020-09-17*

My daughter wanted something to play to spell words. And this seemed right up her ally. Until she came to me tonight after completing the first levels and finding out that you can’t go past that without a $5 a month subscription!!

This is a horrible thing to do to a child. Make a game for them then tell them o you can’t play anymore unless you pay!

I can’t recommend this game to anyone. It’s to simple for adults and to expensive for kids.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback — Sushi Cat Words isn't an individual subscription, it's part of a larger bundle of games that are part of a subscription service. We offer over 100 games in the all-you-can-play subscription, which also removes all ads and in-app purchases. Sushi Cat Words gets pretty tricky over time, we find that a lot of adults like playing it to relax — though of course it is clean and safe for kids to enjoy too.

Though full access is only included with a subscription, we're committed to letting everyone "try before you buy" — to play enough to get a sense of every game free of charge. We also make sure to mention this subscription upfront so that we don't mislead anybody. Hopefully this helps you understand a little more about our model and that Sushi Cat Words is not an individual subscription.

### 1/5 — Words do not exist

*2019-09-09*

This word game is fun except that you are often trying to guess at words that aren’t words, at least in English. You waste a lot of time making up fake words to get through a round. It’s frustrating. I don’t understand how you can develop an english word game and then have nonsense words in there.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2018-11-08*

Game stopped working!

### 2/5 — Cheated out of coin boost

*2019-02-17*

I’ve been cheated out of coin boost/coins at the beginning of my games for weeks now. Please tell me what to do or please fix this. I’ve been enjoying the game until this point.

### 2/5 — Choice Ad

*2018-11-02*

If this game is for 4+ why do you have this choice ad showing a couple in bed & the wife walks into the bedroom catching her husband w/ someone else. I have my 6 year old grand daughter playing this game & said is this part of my game?

### 3/5 — Nice but misses common words

*2023-06-25*

I love Sushi Cat but this game misses common words like “mom” and often has plural but not singular or visa versa. It is cute, easy to play but a big miss compared to the original Sushi Cat games.

### 3/5 — Half hearted attempt at a favorite game

*2020-03-19, version 1.2.6*

I enjoyed playing the the other Sushi Cat games online over the past few years. These had little video vignettes after you finished a level that told a simple, fun and progressive story. There were also a nice variety of music.

Overall it’s a half hearted attempt at an app and not worthy of a Sushi Cat fan’s time.

### 3/5 — No way to transfer data across devices

*2019-02-22*

Was on level 200 or so and got a new phone. Very upset to realize I have to start the game completely over and there’s no way to backup or export/import data. Seems like a flaw, especially in this age when you could just link a Facebook account or something.

### 3/5 — Sooo cute!

*2018-08-01, version 1.0.9*

A brilliant and challenging word game. Only thing stopping me from a five star rating is that the game quite often freezes after completing a round, and I have to close the app and restart.

Honestly the best game to come out of 2018! I love sushi cat so much and have gotten all my friends to download it 😊 it’s really fun and a really great game when you need to kill some time. Thank you so much to the developers!!

### 5/5 — Pretty cute

*2018-11-12*

The game is easy to understand and pretty straightforward, but the dictionary is confusing with what words do and don’t exist. There aren’t nearly as many ads, which is great.

### 5/5 — Great and really fun game!

*2018-07-31*

I really enjoyed playing the game. The japanese is pretty accurate too if you want a little practice reading. It's mostly English though y'all! Lots of fun.
