### 4/5 — Swahili learning

*2020-08-09, version 2.0.7*

I love this app and I wish it has more vocabulary.

### 3/5 — Enough!

*2019-04-10, version 2.0.7*

I would have given it a higher rating if it didn’t interrupt me so often asking for a review - even after I gave it some stars!

### 4/5 — Helpful App...

*2019-01-07, version 2.0.7*

When used with other Apps. The good thing here is some very necessary terms to help construct Kiswahili grammar correctly show up. They are also correct, best I can tell. Other apps seem to have various mistakes or colloquialisms or Sheng input. What’s here tracks with various dictionaries. I greatly appreciate the way this app is put together; simple yet powerful. THANK YOU!

### 4/5 — Great app! A few typos

*2018-10-31, version 2.0.7*

I love this app! It really love the portability of it and the wide variety of vocabulary and lessons. They’re are a few typos like in numbers section, they say kitabu is bed when it is actually book for example. Other than that, it’s great!

### 4/5 — So far so good

*2017-12-20, version 2.0.7*

Went over lessons once and left it alone for some days. Got back to it and it felt more natural. Seems not cramming it works good.

### 4/5 — Asanteni sana

*2017-07-22, version 2.0.7*

I am loving this app, along with two others, to learn Swahili. The vocabulary sections are especially helpful, as is the breakdown of how the words change depending on whose got what! One of the other apps seems to expect you to know when to use "mtanzania" vs "watanzania" etc. The words were suddenly introduced without explanation. With this app, now I know. That other app also doesn't offer pronunciation.
The reason for four stars here? I couldn't find the very common "asante" (thank you) in this app. I had to go to the other app to find it.
Also, some of the links to pronunciations are off. However, I did write the developers and got a quick reply they are working to fix it.

So far, this is the one app I would pay for, once they work out those bugs.

### 5/5 — Nzuri sana!!!

*2016-09-11, version 2.0.7*

This app is great! Helps me practice grammar structuring as well!!

### 5/5 — So easy!

*2016-07-29, version 2.0.7*

Love this simple and easy app.

### 5/5 — The info in this app is NECESSARY to learning Swahili!

*2016-07-18, version 2.0.5*

Before I got this app, I had just been floundering around memorizing Swahili words. This app actually explains the grammar behind word and sentence construction, so now I can actually speak sentences and figure out how to properly express things and decode new words. Don't try to learn Swahili without it!!!

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2016-05-23, version 2.0.4*

This is an amazing app. Very detailed and plenty of lessons to either learn, or get better at Swahili. I travel to east Africa every year and use this app to keep my Swahili fresh. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to learn.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2016-05-21, version 2.0.4*

This app is really detailed when it comes to the grammatical structure of Swahili. Very cool & useful. The developer is also very responsive to reports of issues/bugs.

### 5/5 — Great practice and to HEAR the language!

*2015-12-12, version 2.0.3*

I love this app! Straight forward explanations. And then exercises to hear the sounds and practice learning vocabulary!

### 5/5 — 5-Star

*2015-10-03, version 2.0.3*

Its clear, its easy to use, and its a fun language for me . I tried to use Duo Lingo but they don't have any african dialects in their categories. This ones 10x better anyways because your learning sentences and conversations you really could be having with someone who speaks Swahili. With Duo lingo, i spent 4 months on that app to learn spanish and you can only get as far as "the cat drank the milk" before you have to pay for extra lessons. This app wins

### 3/5 — Good app but errors

*2015-03-30, version 2.0.2*

I like this app and the exercises but they are some inconsistencies. For example bed is sometime translated kitabu sometime kitanda or during the exercises the number is 18 but there is no option to choose 18. Because of the different mistakes that I've seen I am not giving it a five but this is still a good application to learn

### 5/5 — So pleased with this app.

*2015-01-24, version 2.0.2*

For the price, this app is priceless! I have learned so much in just a few days . The soundbites help with pronunciation so much. And the exercises are a great way to test your progress. I can't believe I'm starting to learn Swahili! Thanks for such a useful tool for a beginner. I recommend this to anyone just starting from scratch on speaking & understanding Swahili. Definitely worth it!!!!

### 5/5 — Most Helpful app so far

*2015-01-22, version 2.0.2*

Super helpful app! Teaches grammar and vocabulary and all the basics for the language. It is well organized and it is easy to access the information. I would recommend this app to anyone who wants to learn Swahili.

### 4/5 — Excellent way to practice the language

*2014-10-28, version 2.0.2*

It is a very through app & gives great information. I use the record option often to listen to myself to see if I sound like the recording. I wish there were more review games. If there were more games to practice the skills it would be a 5 star app.

### 5/5 — Thorough and Easy to Use

*2014-08-25, version 2.0.0*

This app is very easy to use and the pronunciations are great! There is a wide range of vocabulary words. Thank you!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not functioning

*2024-09-26*

Seems like this stopped working for a while now.

### 1/5 — No greetings?!

*2018-11-30*

I can’t believe how the app tries to teach things like house items and colours but there is absolutely nothing about greetings like “Hello” and “Goodbye”.

Perhaps people in this language don’t greet each other?

### 1/5 — Mistakes

*2014-04-11*

Many vocabulary mistakes.

### 1/5 — Freezes continually

*2014-01-18*

Keeps freezing. Unusable. Don't buy.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2013-08-25*

Keeps crashing. Can't get past the first phrase. Not impressed!

### 1/5 — Crashes after first word

*2013-06-21*

Please fix this bug, it could be a great app! But it crashes as soon as you use it!

### 1/5 — Not good

*2013-04-20*

Freezes often - and this has not happened with any other app on my iPad. In need of an update immediately.
Lessons are just lists of phrases with their meaning. There are no games or learning exercises.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work now

*2013-03-29, version 1.2.2*

After the most recent update I can't even open the app. Automatically crashes every time. Also, If this app had the ability to copy & paste, I would definitely give it more stars, that is after I can use it again.

### 1/5 — Very glitchy

*2012-12-16*

The sound recorder does not work and it constantly freezes. Waste of money.

### 1/5 — App always crashes - please fix this!

*2012-10-10*

This app crashes when you try to record yourself. You cannot even open and close a phrase without the app freezing! I'm using iPad3 with iOS6. I have contacted the developer but got no response. This sadly ruins an app that otherwise had great potential - if this was fixed then it could be the best Swahili app on iOS.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Early experience good.

*2017-11-24*

I keep getting prompted to rate even though I have only spent about 15 minutes on the app. So far I am very pleased. Seems very clear and well organised. Just what I wanted.

Basic but useful exercises.

### 5/5 — So far do good

*2017-08-21*

Got it to teach my children swahili. First try: good. Good sound, great articulate pronunciation.

### 5/5 — Swahili primer ni fit!

*2017-04-02, version 2.0.7*

I am just loving this app! Swahili primer breaks down the language in a way that is really understandable to non-native speakers and is so much better than any class I have taken. I may be moving to rural Tanzania and this will be immensely helpful!

### 5/5 — Terrific language App

*2017-02-11, version 2.0.7*

This app is beautifully designed for ease of use and the lessons and exercises are easy to follow. I have nothing but praise for this app.
