## What is Swarmfall?

The swarm has taken every other world. This is the last one with anything living on it, and it is yours to hold.

Swarmfall is a planet-defense roguelike where the shooting takes care of itself. Your turrets acquire and fire on their own. You never aim, never tap a target. Every decision that matters happens in a menu, under pressure, while the swarm closes in.

LEVEL UP, CHOOSE ONE
Kills feed experience. Every level deals a hand of cards and takes one: a new turret, a planet upgrade, or a synergy that rewires how the whole build behaves. Deep Roots makes anything latched onto the planet take triple damage from every source. Living Mantle regrows the ground under you. The dive you get is the dive you drafted.

EIGHT GUNS ON THE RIM
The Reef Lance locks one target and ramps to 2.6x the longer it holds. The Ember Spitter lobs shells that detonate and leave survivors burning. The Tide Coil chains arc bolts through anything that clusters. The Spore Launcher sends homing seekers that pick their own victims. The Shard Battery shreds at point blank and nowhere else. The Blight Garden plants a rot that leaps to whoever stood nearby when its host dies. The Tide Anchor rings like a struck bell and slows everything its wave passes through. The Rime Lattice stacks cold until a body hard freezes, and a heavy hit shatters it into everything around it.

TWENTY EVOLUTIONS
Raise a turret to level 2 with the right partner mounted and the two fuse. Reef Lance and Ember Spitter become the SOLAR LANCE, a beam that sets its victims on fire. Ember Spitter and Spore Launcher become the BROODFIRE MORTAR, artillery that releases seeker drones on impact and cleans up after itself. Finding them is most of the game.

BANK IT, OR PUSH
Half of every haul is at risk until you get it out. Extract whenever you choose and you bank every credit. Die down there and the deep keeps half. Kill a monarch and it pays a bounty and knits 30% of your planet back together, and the next wave is already coming. No other decision in the game costs as much.

A SWARM THAT CLOSES IN
Thirteen creatures, from cinder mites up to the Deep Mother herself, drawn in bioluminescent deep-water dark. Elites rise wearing afflictions: Veiled, Frenzied, Gorged, Budding, Weeping, and the first of each in a dive is called out the moment it surfaces. Everything resists one damage family and folds to another, and the briefing shows which for everything you have already killed. The swarm reveals itself a species at a time and comes at you from wider angles as the dive goes on: one front, then an arc, then a pincer, then a full ring. Telegraphed, never cheap.

THE DESCENT
Clear the dark and it gets darker. Eight depths each add one permanent modifier as you unlock them. The mantle holds less life. The swarm moves faster. Monarchs rise in pairs. Elites carry two afflictions at once. The swarm's numbers swell by a third. How deep you can still hold is the real score.

EVERY DIVE COUNTS
Turrets unlock through lifetime kills, never purchases. Daily directives pay out for specific work: burn down 150 fire-family creatures, hold the line to 6:00, slay a Deep Mother. Records keep your season. The bestiary fills in as you meet what is down there.

NOTHING BETWEEN YOU AND THE GAME
No ads. No in-app purchases. No energy timers. No account, no login, no server. Swarmfall never touches the internet and collects nothing about you. Your save lives on your device and nowhere else.

Under a quarter mantle, every gun on the rim opens up at once. Last Stand is not something you buy. It is the world screaming.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.7 — 2026-10-13

Rime Lattice reworked. Its bolt hits harder and faster, one Deep Rime freezes on the first hit, and bosses never freeze.

Two new evolutions. GLACIAL LANCE turns the Reef Lance's beam into a freeze that shatters. CONDUCTIVE ICE, with a Tide Coil mounted, arcs each freeze's cold into the pack around it.

Undertow pulls with a rhythm. Tide Anchor's drag now takes each enemy once every 4 seconds, so the ring holds a line instead of pinning the swarm.

Deep Furnace stacks 15% a copy instead of 20%, so a lone Ember Spitter can still fall.

Level-ups respect your unlocks, and every turret's level-up hand deals three cards.

The end-of-dive screen scrolls, so RUN IT BACK and MAIN MENU are always in reach after a long dive.

The wave counter stays on its own line on every iPhone, and big counts read 12.6k.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-24

Every kill hits harder now.

• Kills pop, and the pitch climbs as your streak runs. A new streak meter on the HUD keeps count.
• Leveling up lands: a flash, a stamp, and a chime before the draft opens.
• The planet alarm sounds when your mantle crosses a threshold, not on every scratch.
• The boss bar gets its own row, clear of the enemy roster.
• New planets regenerate the way they were meant to from your first dive.
• The Garrison tile shows the rate it actually pays.
• The briefing names the enemies you have already met.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-15

THE DRAFT NO LONGER LOCKS A RUN

A draft dealt in the quarter-second after a card pick could land on a sheet that was still closing. The cards never arrived, the run could not continue, and surrendering was the only way out. One player hit this immediately after killing the Shard Tyrant. A pick no longer hides a sheet that a new draft has already opened.

SOUND SURVIVES A SLEEPING PHONE

Audio stopped after the phone slept or the app lost focus, and only muting and unmuting brought it back. iOS deactivates the audio session while an app is in the background, and resuming it is not enough to rebuild the route to the speaker. The game now cycles the session on return, and again on your first touch, so sound comes back on its own.

THE BUILD NUMBER IS ON SCREEN

The main menu and the end-of-run screen now show the installed version and build, in the form 1.0.5 (17). If something goes wrong, that line names the exact build you were playing.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-11

SOUND IS BACK

Swarmfall has been silent on iPhone since launch. All eleven audio clips failed to load inside the app, and because the game looked perfect nothing ever reported a fault. Turret fire, impacts, the monarch's roar and the Last Stand sting all work now.

CARDS THAT SAY WHAT THEY DO

Thirteen cards described themselves wrong.

The seven turret unlock cards quoted damage and reload figures from before a retune. For six of them the damage per second is unchanged — shots simply land bigger and slower than the card implied. The Rime Lattice's card understated its damage outright.

Two of those cards also gave bad advice. The Blight Garden promised that bio-aligned leeches resist its rot; they do not, and only The Deep Mother does. The Ember Spitter claimed it was strong against bio when it is strong against plasma. Both lines survived an older naming of the damage families, and both sent you after the wrong counter.

Six upgrade cards named a percentage they never applied. Deep Furnace and Storm Capacitor said 12% and give 20%. Masterwork Facets said 20% and gives 35%.

No turret changed. Only the words describing them.

COLOUR

Damage type is how the game teaches counters, and two families had been wearing each other's. The Blight Garden showed plasma's pink on its loadout chip, its stat row and its damage summary, while the Spore Launcher had no colour of its own on any of them and borrowed arc's. Both now read on every surface the way they always did in the bestiary. The NECROBLOOM card is tinted for the Blight Garden it upgrades, not for the Spore Launcher.

DRAFTS

Cluster Payload, Hoarfrost Bloom and MASTERWORK KEEL each grant a one-time transformation, and each could be offered a second time. The duplicate cost a full draft slot and did nothing. They now appear once.

Evolutions require their base turret at level 2 — what all eighteen of them have always said in their own text. A dead condition in the gate let them arrive two upgrades early. Runs are harder for it: about 4% shorter at the median, and the fast starts that leaned on an early evolution lose the most.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-04

The title screen dock no longer squeezes its labels on smaller phones. Each button now stacks its icon above its label, so UPGRADES, DIRECTIVES, RECORDS and BESTIARY all fit cleanly from the smallest iPhone up.

First update with a change from our newest contributor. More to come.
