It honestly is a better content format than many of the other social media platforms. Instead of consuming photo and video all day, you get to enter into healthy dialogue and use your voice. This will assist in building a robust and interactive community. I always feel better when I leave the app, and that’s huge. Voice brings in a dimension of authenticity to posts leading to more meaningful discussions and conversations.. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 2/5 — Problems *2020-10-26, version 2.5.0* I set my preferred subjects and the app’s “For you” feed still includes all topics, and there is no way to turn off the editor’s picks. I want *zero* political or COVID content, yet am bombarded by it. That is unacceptable and why I use the News Feed Eradicator app on my FB and Twitter accounts. I don’t like the UI/UX. It feels clunky. I also hate the 15 character limit on usernames because I need 16. Basically, Swell seems a lot like the Stereo live talk radio app except more like Twitter than FB and therefore not as deep... not that I love Stereo either. Rather, I love the *idea* of Swell and Stereo, just not the execution. And the user base on both are so small, it’s like shouting into the void. ### 4/5 — Simple & Sweet *2024-04-27* I’m really enjoying this app for at least a couple reasons but mainly because of how simple, easy and intuitive it is. Personally I don’t care about SXSW but my feed is inundated with posts about it. I love how easy it is to use, how many different communities there are to be a part of (so many for for book lovers or news listeners!), and how interesting all the conversations are. I’ve made connections on this app and heard from people around the world about everything ranging from mental health to poetry. I would recommend this app to anyone who is looking for a ay to share their voice and learn more about different hobbies and make friends online! ### 5/5 — I love Swell! *2025-05-01* Swell is an amazing way to connect with people in a way that feels more genuine than other social media platforms.
