## What is SwiftList?

SwiftList is a checklist app for people who think in steps. Put lists inside lists, check things off as you go, and run the lists you repeat again next time. No account, no tracking, and your lists stay on your devices.

LISTS INSIDE LISTS
• Nest items under items: a trip, a move, a launch, a weekly reset. Each list shows how much is done at every level.
• Type fast: Return adds the next item, and in the editor Tab and Shift-Tab indent and outdent.
• Mark items open, in progress or done. See the Full Outline inline, or drill in one level at a time.
• Swipe to nest, move, delete or finish an item. Color-tag rows and filter a list by color.

PLAN TODAY AND TOMORROW
• Give lists and items a start date, a due date or neither. Today shows what starts or is due, plus anything overdue.
• A calendar with week and month views. Drag a list to another day and everything in it moves along.
• Alerts with Mark Done and Snooze right in the notification.
• Send items to Apple Reminders when you want them there too.

RUN IT AGAIN
• Six starter templates: packing, moving, a weekly reset, gig or event prep, groceries and workouts.
• Save your own lists as templates, and run a finished list again with every check cleared.
• Group and archive lists so the ones you use stay up front.

CAPTURE FROM ANYWHERE
• Scan a paper list with the camera, or pick a photo of one, and SwiftList turns it into a checklist, indents included.
• Attach photos to items, with Live Text. Record voice memos on items.
• Add items from the share sheet, Siri and Shortcuts, Home Screen widgets and Control Center.
• Share a list with AirDrop or Messages, or export it as text.

SEE HOW YOUR MONTH WENT
• Monthly Insights shows what was due, what you finished and whether it was on time, with a 12-month trend. Export it as PDF or CSV.

IPHONE, IPAD AND MAC
• On iPad: a sidebar and split view, keyboard shortcuts, drag and drop between lists.
• On Mac: SwiftList lives in the menu bar, one click away, with the same lists.
• One purchase covers all three.

FREE
• Up to 3 active lists (archived lists don't count), with unlimited items 2 levels deep: items and their sub-items.
• Nothing you've already made is taken away. Lists over a limit stay visible and editable.
• Alerts, the calendar, Siri, the share sheet, sharing and export, and the Today widget, on one device.
• All six starter templates plus 1 of your own, 10 photos, 3 scans and 3 voice memos.

PREMIUM
• Unlimited lists, nesting depth, templates, photos, scans and voice memos.
• iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac.
• On-device transcripts for voice memos, and search inside photos and transcripts.
• Monthly Insights with PDF and CSV export.
• A widget for any list, Lock Screen widgets, and on Mac the pop-out window and a global Quick Add shortcut.
• Accent themes and alternate app icons.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account and no sign-up. No analytics, no ads, no tracking.
• Text in photos is read on your device, and voice memos are transcribed on your device.
• Sync uses your own iCloud. We run no servers and cannot see your lists.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2013-11-18*

This is exactly what I have been looking for. They aren't kidding when they say it's the best ever.

Within a few minutes, I listed out everything I needed to do. After that, it was super easy to organize everything into lists and sub lists.

Check it out, you'll love it too!

### 5/5 — Finally

*2012-11-01*

I am addicted to working off of TO DO lists. I have a ton to do and I need to keep track of it all, organizing not only into list, but also into sublists. And I love crossing off / deleting what I've accomplished. This app does all of that and a ton of other useful things that never even occurred to me. If you have the means, I highly recommend Swiftlist. So choice.

### 5/5 — Innovative list app

*2012-09-11*

I never used list apps because they're typicaly cumbersome and tedious to use, making them more hassle than they're worth. I tried SwiftList on a friend's recommendation and I've found this app's unique method of creating and organizing lists to be incredibly easy and fast to use. Highly recommended. Even if you're not big on making/keeping lists like me, it's still well worth the dollar. Looking forward to continued development of this app!

### 5/5 — Very Handy

*2012-09-04*

I'm constantly trying to keep track of my day to day needs. Things keep popping up and using a calendar app was hardly suitable. SwiftList has helped me easily manage these activities an organize them by priority. It's a steal for the price. If you are like me and have tons of things popping up every day, this app is a life saver.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.1 — 2026-10-19

Fixed iCloud sync status getting stuck on "Syncing…" and Sync Now staying unavailable.
SwiftList 2.0.1 is a big thank-you update, shaped by your notes on 2.0. Here's what's new.

GETTING AROUND
• A short Welcome Tour shows the basics the first time you open SwiftList.
• Tooltips explain buttons when you need them.
• Read the Manual and Help links in Settings open the full SwiftList guide.
• When you filter, a trail at the top shows what's open, so you always know where you are.

WORKING WITH ITEMS
• Add Subtasks right from an item.
• Select several items at once to check, archive, delete or move them to another list in one go.
• Long rows now wrap to 3 lines, so you can read the whole thing.
• Details has a clear Done button, a ‹ Parent list button that jumps to the list holding the item, and a Delete action with Undo.

ARCHIVE
• Archive is now in the long-press menu, and you can put it on a swipe with the new Swipe Action setting.
• Restore an archived item and it goes back exactly where it came from.
• Open Details on archived items, too.

TEMPLATES AND GROUPS
• User Templates: save your own lists as templates and start new ones from them.
• Your templates now sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac through iCloud.
• Use a template from inside a list and it lands right in that list.
• The template screen now has Cancel and Back.
• A new Groups manager to name, sort and tidy your groups.
• Groups fold and unfold like an accordion, with Collapse All and Expand All.

BACKUPS (FREE, EVERY DEVICE)
• Automatic daily backups to iCloud Drive › SwiftList › Backups. On by default, keeping the last 1 to 7.
• Back Up Now whenever you like.
• Export everything, photos included, to any folder you choose.
• Restore from a backup or a file. SwiftList asks first and saves a safety copy before it restores.
• Safer restore: it waits for any backup in progress, stops if the safety copy can't be saved, and pauses editing while it restores.
• A guard for very large backups keeps them from running away.
• On Mac, a daily backup is also kept on this Mac, checked whenever SwiftList becomes active. (Mac)

MAC
• Open any list in its own window, and pin it with Float on Top. (Mac)
• New Window with ⌥⌘N. (Mac)
• Search from the window toolbar with ⌘F, now faster. Use ↑/↓ to move through results and Return to open one. (Mac)
• Select several rows with ⌘- or ⇧-click and move them together. (Mac)

FIXES AND POLISH
• Delete a list in one place and any other screen or window showing it closes too.
• Pop-up sheets no longer close on their own.
• Faster overall, with tidier padding throughout.
• The menu bar Settings no longer shows a duplicate Back button. (Mac)

Thank you for using SwiftList, and for every note you've sent. Keep them coming.
