### 4/5 — Super app but…

*2026-08-05*

I use this app for open water swim for two years now and it is a very useful app for tracking my swimming session
With very few bugs until yesterday and today where my sessions were not recorded well
There is no update for this app and I would like some support because this was my favorite app for swimming

### 4/5 — Training

Assessment

### 4/5 — Great training - shame about the tech

*2026-06-26*

App is great. Great workout. Great training.
V. Disappointing that the app closes / throws you out, whenever you look try to look at training drills
Shame you can’t review previous week training drills

### 5/5 — Best swimming app in the world.

*2026-06-17*

Everything in one place - trading program, swim insights, activities, swim sets, swim videos & much more 🥰

### 4/5 — Very interesting app for serious swimmers

*2025-07-23*

What’s working well:

-I had a coached session, which confirmed the accuracy of Swim Guru’s output.

For one session, my left arm was consistently entering the water first — and the app picked that up. The watch was on my left wrist, so understandably, the data shown was limited to that arm.
- On day two, I moved the watch to my right wrist and updated the settings accordingly. This time, the app displayed data for both arms. It’s still unclear how it estimates arm position for the non-watch side, but the readout was informative.

-The included images and videos are a great touch — there’s a wealth of material here on stroke mechanics, technique, and training approach. I’ve only scratched the surface, but what I’ve seen so far is helpful.

-The first swim’s analysis matched what my coach observed poolside, particularly around the effect of a thumb-first hand entry. That correlation builds confidence in the tool.

-Kick and drill sets are tracked well — and like Apple’s own app, this is handled quite accurately. Over a 3,200m session, the discrepancy was just 25m — effectively one length.

What could be improved:

Heart rate zones would benefit from clearer colour coding — red for high intensity, through to blue for recovery — following standard conventions.

Feature suggestions:

It would be a big step forward to offer more in-pool, real-time performance metrics on the watch itself. These are still missing in Apple’s own app, so Swim Guru has an opportunity to stand out. Useful fields could include:

      1.	Pace per 100m for the last interval (rather than session average)
	2.	Time and distance of the last interval
	3.	Turnaround time for repeat-on sets
	4.	Rest time tracking between intervals
	5.	Maximum heart rate for the session

Overall
A promising start — and with a few added features, it could become a truly indispensable tool for swimmers. Keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2025-02-14*

This app is one of the best swim technique apps I’ve ever used. I pair this app with my Garmin Connect app the two sync flawlessly. I have to say I am impressed. 😁

### 5/5 — All round best swim app

*2024-12-08, version 2.0.4*

A great tool for tracking each swim, 6 different stroke analytics, training plans to improve CSS times and staying motivated throughout the year.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2024-10-12*

Great app, really well thought out with an extensive library of drills and workouts. Easy to create a training plan for any length/ schedule. Really impressed that this is free

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-08-14*

Just started using this Excellent app! Highly recommend it.
Just one suggestion though. Need to include a complication for Apple Watch for easy access.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2023-10-16*

This is a very good app. While not every data point is meticulously precise, it gives you solid information about the quality of your stroke technique and effort. Best on the market as far as I can tell. The developers should be proud!! Nonetheless, I do hope there are updates coming to further improvement accuracy of information. Would love to see what more these developers can do as tech improves.

### 5/5 — unglaublich

*2023-10-03*

ich benutze die app auf der apple watch se. die bahnen werden viel besser gezählt als bei der apple app, und die "debug" visualisierungen sind der hammer!

in dieser app steckt richtiges robotik-know-how drin, hier waren profis am werk!

### 5/5 — Great combo of training plans and lessons

*2023-09-11*

This has a huge depth of training videos matched to your drill and plan which I’ve found fantastic. This app is also unique that is scaled the swim difficulty by the time completed. My Garmin sync was great.

### 4/5 — Stunning swim details

*2023-09-02*

The level of swim analysis using watch data is unmatched and superior to any other swim app I’ve tried. My only gripe with it is that’s it’s slow to use the app. But still gets 5 stars for the awesome analysis.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just not right

*2026-07-02*

Keeps telling me i am entering thumb first with hand. I have had freinds pool side guards etc watch and even done 2 lengths deliberately entering sideways with little finger going in first but still tells me thumb first.

### 1/5 — Compatibility

*2023-11-09*

Since one of the best swim watches is a Garmin Swim 2 with GPS it would be awesome if this app worked with a watch specifically for swimming. What’s good about the G Swim 2 is that it tracks rest periods automatically and more accurately and you can interact with it without purging water. The Apple Watch interface can’t be used unless you purge the water and it doesn’t track rests between sets. I’ve tried swimsmooth with my apple watch and it works fairly well. But if I get the Garmin, I’ll be wearing both if I use swimsmooth. Can you make compatibility work with a Garmin?

### 1/5 — As predicted

*2021-05-21*

I was just testing the app functionality before I got in the pool has used up one of the 3 free trials. I finally got in the pool which then used up another trial. The analysis was ok but didn’t truly reflect all my stroke issues that i know I was having. 1 free trial left, maybe something good will still come of this.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with Garmin

*2021-03-15*

If you are getting this app for stroke insights, which is why i got it, you will be disappointed. The stroke insights are not compatible with Garmin (Fenix 6 at lest). The Garmin app is better. Sorry. I know. It sounded like a genius idea.

**Developer response:** Hey KBkeepTRIing, thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the app and the lack of Stroke Insights on Garmin. Did you try the new Training Plans feature? If not, please do get in contact with us at customerservice@swimsmooth.com and we would be happy to extend your free trial.

### 2/5 — Pouco tempo para avaliar

*2024-04-27*

O App parece ser bom, mas deram apenas uma semana para testar. É muito pouco tempo para ver resultados de treinos propostos.

### 2/5 — Want to like this new version of the guru

*2021-04-05*

But I can’t like it because it’s not functional. It doesn’t accurately track your swims. Over the last month I’ve done two more swims than it gives me credit for. Today it said “treading water” for my “progress”. Yesterday it said “building strength”. I swam both days, and today did 5100. Yet today, I’m supposedly only “treading water” ? They tried to automate this but they haven’t got it right.

Other problems - you have less flexibility with how you enter non swim smooth workouts. You can’t break it out into CSS, Red Mist etc.

You can’t easily log workouts on the ap. For some reason it only works on the pc or the iPad.

The print out versions of the workouts sometimes only let you see “drill” and don’t explain what it is.

These are the things off my head. I find when you give them feedback they ... listen? Sometimes being in love with your own ideas is limiting in the ultimate execution. I sooooo want this to be great as I love SwimSmooth. But this version of the ap is not as good as the swim smooth guru.

**Developer response:** Hi kurtcobaincrush, sorry you've had a bad experience there. Could you contact us at customerservice@swimsmooth.com and let us know what device you are swimming with and when you lost those swims? We're working on updates all the time so please also expand on the printing / logging and we'll address those. Best wishes!

### 3/5 — Needs work

*2026-08-02*

Would be ideal for swim coach to see my stats and provide progress reports, feedback and adjustments my plans to take me step by step through stroke changes.

### 3/5 — Cool, but need some work

*2023-04-29*

The insights are crazy! By far the most incredible feature, but there are some things they could improve: first, it’s crazy slow. Maybe they could store some things locally or move to a faster service provider because each api call takes several seconds to complete. Second, the login is terrible. It loses the JWT token all the time, and it’s the only app I have that doesn’t integrate well with the iPhone password manager. I hope they will keep improving it; there is a lot of potential :)

### 3/5 — Good feedback, unique features, lots of bugs

*2023-02-19*

The swim insights is really cool and works well. It would be great to see more info on the position of my catch at different parts of my pull.

A missing feature would be to download swim sets onto my watch, similar to other swim watch apps.

Downside is that this app has a lot of bugs, the most annoying is it frequently signs me out of the app.

### 3/5 — Le daría 10.

*2022-06-02*

Solo he tenido un par de problemas al querer abrir el app. Es una molestia por que no puedo ver mis resultados. Fuera de eso todo muy bien. Me ha ayudado a corregir mi brazada

Really helped my swimming!

### 5/5 — All in one swim app

*2026-06-22*

This app has everything a swimmer needs from detailed structured workouts to detailed insights on your stroke. The workouts give you exact pacing guidelines derived from your CSS which I haven’t come across anywhere else. Constant feedback on your stroke enables day-to-day improvement.

### 5/5 — It’s everything I need

*2026-06-20*

Easy to use. I use Stroke Insights (free with the GURU) for stroke correction. Plenty of plans and workouts for all distances and swim abilities. Frankly it’s brilliant app.

### 5/5 — All round best swim app

*2026-06-20*

A great tool for tracking each swim, 6 different stroke analytics, training plans to improve CSS times and staying motivated throughout the year.

### 5/5 — Interesting stroke analysis

*2026-06-19*

The stroke analysis is interesting and gives plenty to work on. It is linked to a well curated and extensive collection of videos explaining faults detected and suggesting drills to help correct them. There is also a large collection of sets and tailored schedules for attaining your goals. Helpful responses to questions while initially getting up to speed on the app. Well worth trying so can see if it works for you.

### 5/5 — Great coach

*2026-06-18*

It really helps improve your technique through the stroke insights. Great tool.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-06-18*

Been using it for a few years to help me structure my sessions. I swim without a squad so this helps me to stay focused.
