Other apps out there will listen for the impact sound, so that they know not to capture practice swings. The absence of that feature is a major handicap, because you have to just step up and whack it or the app will capture and attempt to analyze whatever preparatory motions you make. **Developer response:** We hear you! Great feedback. We have an enhancement in the works that will significantly improve swing detection accuracy on partial/practice swings, and it's even better than audio-based detection (which is not great for crowded range scenarios). Been golfing for over 50 years while constantly striving to become better thru lessons, videos, and articles. Nothing seemed to make much of a difference. The Swing Coach app quickly zeroed in on my main swing fault. I was dumbfounded because I felt exactly the opposite of what was really happening. I love the auto detection for the swings and not have to worry about starting and stopping the video on my phone. Die einzelnen Aspekte kann man auch im Nachhinein bestimmen und so den eigenen Schwung auseinander nehmen. Dann lässt man sich dazu passende Lösungen geben. Spätestens da blieb mir der Mund offen stehen! I often let small things work their way back into my swing that, as we all know, can have chain reactions that quickly derail progress. The ability to get feedback on individual parts of the swing allows me to work on specific issues without overloading my brain with any other swing flaws. The ability to choose your coach has been great also, as getting direction from multiple coaches helps me understand it more comprehensively since they “describe and prescribe” differently. Unfortunately, I have used it too much in the sun and a practice page has the logo on your screen the whole time you swing. My iPhone now permanently has the swing coach logo burnt into the pixels whenever I go to a white page. Maybe I'll try it again when it catches up with Sportsbox which offers much more versatility than this "still in beta development" app for a similar price. Update 4/8/26. By using the rear camera only, I have to unmount my phone after each swing to look at it and that's a major PITA. Wish they cared about giving their customers the option to use either camera. I'm staying away from this app until they make it compatible with magnet mount tripods instead of the outdated & clumsy "clip on" mount and give customers the option to use both cameras. Just not gonna pay this much for an app that dictates so much of how it can be used. **Developer response:** Sorry to hear you had a negative experience with Swing Coach. The app exclusively uses the rear camera, as that provides the best images for analysis and measurement. Rear cameras on iPhones have larger and higher quality lenses and sensors than the front cameras. I think you might have misunderstood the Shawn instructional video, as in that setup he is also using the rear camera. ### 1/5 — Good but! *2026-03-25, version 2.0.1* Easy to use and great tool for a beginner. Be aware you either have to analyze and decide improvement area’s before switching clubs each day or only practice one club each day. No capability to select swings you want averaged for analysis. Also if it picks up the guy next to you at the range, which it does, you cannot delete that persons swing from your data. Sent input to the developer and they said they had no plans to incorporate ability to pick swings for analysis. So you can analyze a swing one at a time, the last ten of a session, all swings on a given day, or all swings in the system, but no ability to pick outside of that. I've been playing golf for far too long, to be this bad! I have probably spent 2 retirement funds on golf lessons, that left me more confused and with an even worse game, when I thought that wasn't possible. Welcome to Swing Coach, an easy to use, fully on demand golf lesson that you can pretty much use anywhere you can swing a club! It's insane to watch videos of how bad your actual swing is, compared to how good you thought it was!! But with the data, guidance, feedback, and access to the worlds top coaches, it's unbelievable how quickly that swing can be put in the correct spots, how different that feels, and suddenly the ball is doing what you've only ever seen on tv......... It's the best hundred or so bucks you'll EVER spend.
