It’s much slower than the old one, making it harder to grab assignments before they’re gone. There are no filters to separate long-term from day-to-day jobs, so you waste time scrolling instead of securing work. The travel time estimates are also gone, making it harder to plan your day efficiently. On top of that, the interface feels clunky and unintuitive. Overall, it’s frustrating and has seriously hurt my ability to find assignments. ### 1/5 — Application Glitch *2025-03-25, version 250282044* Jobs have been coming in through my notifications, but when I got to the app to register for the opportunity, all I get is a Swing Education “S” that buffers and never takes me to the page to reserve the job. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, turned my phone on and off, just to see if that would resolve the problem. I have missed out on several opportunities to substitute because of whatever glitch is going on. ### 1/5 — Worst App *2025-03-24* This app was poorly built, only shows a few openings at a time. The older app could customize the long term or 1 day assignment, this app doesn’t give an option. All week I see the same opening sitting in the app. When openings are available it is hidden even when not yet being filled. I hate this app and its preventing me from working. This was not ready for public use, I want the old app back ### 1/5 — The old app was much better *2025-03-20* The new app has its pros and cons, but unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros. We can no longer filter offers by multi-day vs single-day, commute time, and other key factors. Additionally, text message notifications for offers no longer work—even after changing the settings multiple times, they keep reverting to push notifications. On top of that, I’m not receiving many offers just like with the old app. Many improvements are needed! ### 1/5 — App Seems Incomplete *2025-03-18, version 250282044* This app does not refresh jobs correctly and does not show new assignments unless you close and restart the app. This has been going on for days now and does not seem like its going to be fixed any time soon. This app was not ready to launch and very lackluster. They wasted my time and money doing trainings and getting fingerprinted ($80 in my area), to pay me a total of $50 and never actually set up my online payroll account, therefore not allowing me to ever take jobs. Work for a school district, not these people. ### 1/5 — Awful *2025-03-16, version 250282044* I had access to both versions of this app and the old one would post jobs several seconds before this one. This one takes so long to load that by the time the job is posted it’s already gone. The amount of time it takes to see the information about the job takes so long that people are just committing to a job then they uncommit if it’s not worth it. The jobs don’t pay as much so most aren’t worth it or remain unfilled. A lot of subs are going to other agencies because they pay more. It’s nearly impossible to get to a real person also. ### 1/5 — Previous app was much better *2025-03-15, version 250282044* Unfortunately, this app leaves much to be desired. The updated refresh scroll option doesn’t work properly. You still have to reopen the app for the assignments page to be updated. There are no filters to choose between single and multi-day assignments. There are lots of filled multi-day assignments that prevent you from seeing the new ones before they’ve been taken. But still do not receive notifications at all. Even after verifying my phone number, switched to sms nothing. The app notifications are dead. The other day I was at a school setting with other swing subs, and they all got notified except me. I was waiting for their phones to vibrate then I checked my app. I is hard that I have to hold my phone the entire day and refresh the app every 15 seconds to find a request, many swing agents talk to me, and the only thing they all said” Verify your phone and receive texts” I did everything, nothing worked at all. **Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for your feedback and we apologize that there have been some issues with receiving notifications. We've made some updates to the app so you can now choose between SMS and push notifications. We have also resolved the login issue, if you update your app you should no longer have to log in frequently. We've also given you the ability to pull down to refresh your app. Please update your app to gain access to these new updates. Came to sub over a year or close to two years. I have had significant requests and positive reviews of administrators asking me to come back. I had a ONE TIME last minute cancellation for emergency and now that situation outweighs all the positive work I have done. Mind you I been on the app for almost two years. I don’t think a one time last minute cancellation should define me on the app. God forbid you are human and an emergency situation comes up. The sick time also really sucks making it nearly impossible if you ever decided to do long term subbing. Feels like they just treat you as disposable. Also, does the schools have any accountability? I walk into assignments that have no guidance, major behavioral challenges with students and you don’t get recognized for all that you endure, but a school can leave a review that can be untrue and it sticks with you forever. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2026-03-18, version 20260107* This app screws you out of getting work. You get a notification and the app takes 5 minutes to load, by the time it’s open the offer is gone. But for some reason if there’s no offer it takes 30 seconds to open. It’s like they’re actively trying to block you from working. ### 1/5 — Disappointed with the new changes. *2026-02-08, version 20260107* Swing was great until the end of May 2025. After that, things took a turn for the worse. With the new app and new management, everything has changed. I was told by an employee with swing that negative feedback has a greater impact now compared to then. It doesn’t make sense! Even when you consistently go above and beyond as a substitute, that effort often goes unrecognized. However, a single negative review from a school, even if it’s inaccurate, can significantly lower your rating and result in fewer or no job offers. On top of that, pay rates have dropped, and available assignments are limited. Unfortunately this app is no longer reliable for consistent work. At this point, you may be better off working as a district substitute. This app disappoints me more and more everyday. ### 1/5 — 2026 REVIEW *2026-02-02, version 20260107* The app seems to have glitches that seem to be conveniently controlled by random people. I keep updating installing and uninstalling to trouble shoot why I no longer get notifications via push or text. One minute I had 100 positive reviews the next minute I have 1. Very shady stuff going on. ### 1/5 — Less offers + new app setup needs changes!! *2025-10-29* I really loved the old swing app. I barely get any offers anymore. Could you please bring back a few key features? Specifically, the ability to filter offers by distance and by offer duration (1 day vs multiple days). These features were very helpful. Right now, some schools aren’t organized by location, and with many long term offers listed, it’s quite difficult to find offers. Returning these features would make the app much easier to use and would be greatly appreciated! ### 1/5 — Going to a school district *2025-09-11, version 20250807* Swing was good when I signed up last yr, but now there are barely any requests to pick up. Not only that but the pay is extremely low compared to being in a district. With the new timesheet format, I now have to a new login to a completely different app (which is their username that you have to store) in order to punch a clock for hourly work. Even though they say you don’t have to leave the app, it literally doesn’t let you punch although their pop-up says otherwise. Also, with the addition of the hourly formatting, PAY IS NOT WEEKLY ANYMORE, even though it is still being advertised as such. You used to get paid the following week of Friday but now the timesheets aren’t even approved until then which means obviously the pay won’t be that same day, it’ll take another week. Also with taxes being taken out on already low pay and with lesser amount of requests, it’s not worth the hassle searching constantly to hope one pops up. When you aren’t getting enough requests, it makes no sense for us to be official employees and not contractors anymore. No way people are able to get full time or the so called benefits. Go back to contract work and let us take out our own taxes at the end of the yr. I would find jobs very easily. The difference between the jobs available this to last year is enormous.. I have 4 positive reviews from schools and a star sub rating.. with nothing to show for. It gives me the flexibility that I need as a first time mom. I used to work for Swing back in 2023 and now I returned in 2026 and overall I am still enjoying the assignments. No history is really shown a couple weeks out. Less transparency, just like when they switched payroll. ADP used to have a breakdown and info where you worked. I think I remember around 86 people or inside my orientation and now every day I wake up about three hours early before an assignment and every time I find an assignment it gets taken within two seconds I feel like Swing should stop hiring this many people because now people who have been on this app for a while it has been much harder to find work so I feel like since this is not reliable anymore much people won’t be wanting to work or come back with this company.
