My card information was stolen within 3 days of ordering. The amount charged was not even similar to the amount I had purchased. The app itself is slow, and my order wouldn’t send through for more than 10 minutes. Save yourself some time and just call the restaurant. ### 2/5 — Too many issues *2021-06-06, version 2.34* We have had several instances with SWIPEBY where restaurants that we know to be open, show as being closed for orders on SWIPEBY, or an order that we placed through SWIPEBY was not placed correctly at the restaurant and we had to get a refund. When it works, it is good, but when it doesn’t it is a pain especially when you have hungry kids in the car. Better to just call the restaurant directly! ### 3/5 — Very limited selections *2021-03-29, version 2.33* I downloaded the app for one nearby restaurant. The experience using the app was ok. Still end up calling the restaurant to get my food while I waited in my car. I feel like the restaurant can just do curbside pick up simply without using this app. Another downside is that, the app lists only 3 restaurants near me in a very populated city. ### 2/5 — Orders wrong several times *2020-07-13, version 2.16* The restaurant where I used this app to order said that the app is very glitchy on their end. My order was wrong 3 times within a couple months. Each time, when I got to the restaurant, I had to wait for them to prepare new food to fix it. So basically I had to place my order at the restaurant which defeats the purpose of the app. The app is great in concept. ### 2/5 — Map Overview Needed *2020-04-03, version 2.8* Map view needed to get a quick overview of nearby restaurants on the service. ### 1/5 — Very limited *2020-02-26, version 2.6* I downloaded this app because I thought it would be a great convenience to be able to pick up food from local restaurants without getting out of my car or adding a fee. Well, as it turns out, there are only 12 restaurants in my whole city to order from and a few still require you to go inside to get your food. Personally, I’d rather pay a fee and help employ someone from an app like Door Dash, Postmates, GrubHub or Uber Eats to get food from ANY restaurant delivered to my home. Not a big convenience as I was led to believe and I really don’t see myself using this app at all. ### 5/5 — Makes my life easier *2020-02-03, version 2.5* I don’t want to order for delivery but I don’t want to eat in. Finally, an app for me! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — User UNFRIENDLY /Doesn’t work *2022-10-18, version 2.47* So far, SwipeBY is the most frustrating app I’ve ever tried to use. I’m giving it one star because I like the idea of it and it’s a small local company that my small local coffee shop is part of and am hopeful they can resolve the user UNFRIENDLINESS. When I tried to send a message for support the screen set up is such that you cannot click submit. And while you’re typing in your comments, the screen set up is such that you can’t even see what you’re typing. So now I can’t even get in touch with them. This review will stay up until the issue has been resolved. Good luck, SwipeBY, I am rooting for you!☀️ ### 1/5 — Didn’t pay the restaurant *2022-01-02, version 2.36* The restaurant we regularly ordered from over SWIPEBY informed us that they hadn’t been paid for the orders customers placed over the app and they have been unable to contact or hear back from the company about when they will be paid. They said they lost a lot of money. I feel terrible because this is a small local business we were frequenting during the pandemic, and to hear that they hadn’t actually been paid for the orders we’ve been placing is terrible. We will never order over SWIPEBY again. ### 1/5 — Tried to order *2021-04-03, version 2.33* Tried to order instead of using DoorDash. Sure I’d have to pick it up but at least it was going to be quicker since it was a busy time of night. Unfortunately the app was unbearably slow. Every time you entered the app, tapped an item, or added to cart it hung on “receiving data” for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute each. Also when it I went to the cart after waiting all that time to adding the items into the cart turns out the cart was empty. Closed the app and went back to doordash. ### 1/5 — Nothing in the Minneapolis area :-( *2020-08-15, version 2.18* I downloaded the app but nothing came up in the search for my area. Let me know if you have anything in the Twin Cities region! ### 1/5 — Unusable app *2020-07-23, version 2.16* Downloaded swipeby for one purpose only: order curbside pickup from my favorite restaurant. Very disappointing the app just crashes when I try to place the order. ### 1/5 — Horrible App *2020-05-25, version 2.13* Do not download. This doesn’t work. I used this app for curbside service in Philadelphia during the coronavirus - traveled with my pregnant wife 30 miles to pick up cheesesteak. Once I arrived the restaurant claimed they had no record of the order and demanded we get out of the car to show our phone receipt. We had paid and included a tip. We reached out to the owner of the app later who apologized and said he would look into it, never did, after multiple emails. We asked for a refund, never got it. Horrible app. DO NOT USE. ### 1/5 — App crashes at check out *2020-05-22, version 2.13* The app crashes on both my phone when I try to place the order ### 1/5 — Restaurants removed *2020-05-10, version 2.12* We used the app on Mother’s Day to order dinner at the restaurant listed. The order went through and we received an order number and receipt. We show up at the restaurant and they said they no longer were part of the app. This needs to be resolved ASAP as we now need to fight to get our money back from SWIPEBY that was over $100. ### 1/5 — Tried it once, now deleting *2020-05-08, version 2.12* Tried it for the first time tonight. Kept glitching and then I kept getting an error that “an item wasn’t available at this time” however it doesn’t say which item. I reviewed my bag and everything was messed up. It moved my options for a burger onto the spinach salad. Medium-well spinach? Gave up and called the restaurant and everything we wanted was available. Won’t try this again. It’s just too time consuming and frustrating. The app is simple to use; it stores your credit card info, preferred vehicle for pickups and favorite meals at restaurants. But that would all be for naught if the restaurant fulfillment did not match the promise of the app. Thankfully, it’s a seamless system. As a mother, it has saved me so much time. The food is ready, there is a designated pick up spot reducing confusion, the menus have gotten increasingly easier to navigate, AND I don’t have to get anyone out of the car to collect my food! It means I can chose healthier options and not just fast food. Highly recommend.
