When you open certain websites, ads will auto play and the screen will turn fully black until you go out of full screen. I just try to set the search: girls kissing. On the first page, probably the fourth link it had a video of girls, a girl being, seduced in the bathroom, then as the two girls go into the stall to continue their make out, one was strangled to death and left slumped over on the public restroom floor, dead. Awesome. Can’t unsee that! ### 1/5 — Privacy takes a backseat *2023-10-19* I was drawn to Swisscows for its privacy stance and its knack for digging up obscure resources. Now, I'm seeing Microsoft ads pop up based on what I search for. This is a big red flag, especially for a platform that prides itself on privacy. Also, when I try to search for academic content, it's e-commerce sites that hog the spotlight page after page. This shift doesn’t just make Swisscows less useful for diving into research, but also makes me question how serious they are about privacy. Having Microsoft ads, a name not exactly synonymous with privacy, is pretty much at odds with what Swisscows claims to stand for. It's a letdown to see Swisscows take this route. It seems like they've moved from guarding privacy to milking ad revenue. This has left me no choice but to hit delete and look for other options. ### 1/5 — Garbage. *2023-06-13* I don't need some snot nosed twauts telling me what I can or can not search for. If the answer is no, I’d recommend switching to Swisscows now. The search results are very accurate, there are no ads, pop ups, blockers or any other ways of tracking your online activity. I’m impressed by the speed and quality of content - for example I live in a Cambridgeshire town and wanted to book a table at one of our local restaurants. Usually through Google I’d be directed to a booking engine that would try to charge a fee for the booking, Just Eat for example. Swisscows took me straight to the restaurant website in a moment. Honestly this is a revelation in tracker & ad free web searches.
