## What is swisstopo?

On the road with the best app of the year: the swisstopo app won the "Master of Swiss Apps 2021" award.

Use the famous national maps to discover even the most remote places in Switzerland and topics such as hiking, cycling, snow sports and aviation. All functions and data of the app as well as offline use are free of charge. The app is free of advertising and does not require a login.

Im giving it 2 stars for one simple reason, offline maps. You can download everything at home and think you’re prepared but then you’re in the middle of nowhere with sporadic reception and it ignores the offline maps trying to download mapping as you move along. Their suggestion is to use airplane mode (doesn’t work reliably either and why would I want to be completely offline to make one app work?). I found myself stuck without reliable map data too many times hence this review. I’m hoping you can add an option to enable offline maps trying only mode, same as e.g. Apple does in their maps. With this it will be a 5 stars app.

Tolle App, die uns auf einer mehrtägigen Radtour mit Kindern super geholfen hat – die Routen sind wirklich top!

Ein Wunsch: Ein Dark-Mode-Kartenhintergrund wäre großartig, gerade für längere Touren, um Akku zu sparen. Das würde die App noch besser machen. Vielen Dank!

Da aber das meiste Kartenmaterial nur in Rasterform vorliegt, ist eine einfache Farbveränderung nur schwer möglich. Gerne nehmen wir den Wunsch aber trotzdem auf unsere Wunschliste auf. I love this app -- just what the offline hiker needs. Lets you download the entire map for an area with no limitations as long as you have storage on your phone. Easy to update the maps as well.

I'm blown away by the existence of this incredibly high quality, free app! Works flawlessly. I can go wander into the mountains, easily see if there's a trail up to a given peak, plan my routes, and get hiking estimates to new destinations. The panorama mode makes it easy to pick new objectives and learn the geography!

Ich benutze die app vor allem um Radtouren zu planen und die Übersicht über die vorhandenen (fern) radwege ist enorm hilfreich. Auch praktisch ist dass sperrungen bzw Umleitungen angezeigt werden. 

Was ich allerdings nicht verstehe ist wo man sieht welchen Namen/Nummer die einzelnen Radwege haben. Man muss also auf gut Glück losfahren und dann immer wieder kontrollieren ob man noch auf dem richtigen ist. Wäre toll wenn man die Radwege anklicken könnte um die Nummern zu sehen! Oder sogar dass wenn man eine tour über mehrere plant, man sieht welche Sequenz von Radwegen man fahren muss!
