## What is Switch2GO AAC?

An accessible Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app designed for students with Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI), featuring high-contrast symbols, eye gaze/head tracking support, customizable layouts, and hands-free (or hands on if preferred) operation for iPad/iOS.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-09-08

This update makes Switch2GO more flexible and more accessible than ever.

Now available in 9 languages — Switch2GO is fully localized in English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese. The app interface, preset phrases, text-to-speech, and VoiceOver all follow your chosen language. Choose a language in Settings → Language, or let the app follow your iPad’s system language.

Rich phrase content — Attach videos, audio clips, YouTube videos, or built-in games to any phrase. When a phrase is selected, media or a game can play automatically after a short delay.

Improved eye tracking — Smoother, more reliable eye gaze selection with better calibration and advanced tuning options.

New selection modes — Choose the input method that works best:

Bluetooth switch control — Pair an ESP32 adaptive switch for scan-and-select or direct phrase access
Arm Raise Selection — Raise your left or right arm to choose between two on-screen phrases
Hand Gesture Selection — Open and close your left or right hand to select phrases without a cursor
Customize your board — You can now delete built-in preset categories you don’t need, so your communication board fits the user.

As always, all camera and tracking processing stays on your device — nothing is uploaded to the cloud.

### 1.3 — 2026-04-02

Massive improvements in reliability for eye gaze tracking.

### 1.2 — 2026-03-17

This build includes stability and diagnostics improvements for on-device eye tracking.
Camera frames continue to use orientation-based rotation mapping:
Landscape Right: 180°
Portrait: 90°
Landscape Left: 0°
Eye tracking is intentionally disabled in Portrait Upside Down due to reduced reliability in that orientation.
Added cooldown/guard logic to prevent excessive detector reinitialization, improving runtime stability.
Added optional developer diagnostics logging (disabled by default).
Camera processing remains on-device.
No new data collection or external transmission has been introduced in this update.

### 1.1 — 2026-03-12

Updated compatibility to work iOS 17 and iPadOS 17. Increased MediaPipe to latest version.

### 1.0 — 2026-03-09

No release notes.
