## What is SX1000?

SX1000 is a faithful emulation of the JEN SX1000, a vintage Italian synth released in 1978.
The SX1000 was one of the earliest affordable analog synthesizers, designed for musicians seeking hands-on control without breaking the bank.
We have carefully emulated the SX1000’s M110 chip, and also expanded its capabilities by adding features like polyphonic mode, a sub-oscillator (down to -3 octaves), and additional controls for legato modes.
We’ve also integrated an arpeggiator borrowed from a vintage classic polysynth and enhanced the sonic possibilities with four effects featuring flexible routing.
Available as AUv3 and Standalone.

Love the tone of this synth, and with the sub osc and effects it covers a wide range of sounds despite its minimalism. My only gripe the KT, which was supposedly fixed but still hardly tracks at all. I guess the original also had weak kt…but why not give it full range? Those who want weak kt like the original could just lower the control.

When u buy an analog synth the first thing you want is character and this little synth has that in abundance…but 1 osc is way too little of a synth ….thankfully it has a decent flanger/chorus included in the fx section so u can mimic 2 detuned oscillators with it (like the Junos). Would love to see a reset option for the LFO so it can be used as pitch envelope.

The old synthesizers from JEN have a rich, distinctive sound even now, when they turn up in working order. This app recreates that sound brilliantly, adding a few modern twists. AudioThing applications reliably inspire creative users, bringing tightly edited, well-conceived instruments and audio things to market that work as cohesive wholes rather than simply collecting a load of desirable features in neither-here-nor-there, flashy yet unusable messes. Every app from this developer has a clear purpose and executes it well, leaving extraneous elements aside.

This gets a happy recommendation to people in the market for a distinctive, direct virtual-analogue instrument.
