### 2/5 — Constantly crashes

*2026-03-17, version 102.0.3*

The app design is cool but crashes every 10-15 minutes of use. Should have a function to save filtered choices for future use as well. Please fix for next year.

### 3/5 — NEEDS Accessibility Controls

*2026-03-17, version 102.0.3*

Good app, very effective for navigating the festival. Incredibly tiny text with zero ability to accommodate accessibility needs.

### 3/5 — App Crashes Frequently

*2026-03-13, version 102.0.3*

As stated, the app crashes every couple of minutes. It’s a pain to make a schedule on or look through events when you’re losing your place every two minutes. Maps are also useless, too many overlays. It would be more useful to redirect to Google Maps.

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2026-02-27, version 102.0.2.5*

Every year it glitches. A lot. Based on the badge prices and the majority of workers being volunteers, they need to do better.

### 2/5 — Too many ads

*2025-03-12, version 19.0.1*

The app logs you out randomly (don’t forget your pwrd), and there are way too many ads. Aren’t we already being inundated just by being at SXSW?

### 2/5 — Needs significant improvement before next year

*2025-03-11, version 19.0.1*

App is very glitchy. Missed out on events because app glitched. Does not provide clear indication when you press button and select an event. Multiple times had spinner that slowed down selection and caused me to miss events. Filtering does not always work. Sometimes shows nothing when trying to filter even though events have been saved. This is for a premier tech event. You can do better.

### 2/5 — good idea but not functional most of the time

*2025-03-08, version 19.0.0*

it crashes if open for too long, like while looking at the schedule. i cant even make it through a whole day of events without it crashing and closing. it also doesn't load quickly, even on wifi so i've resorted to just screenshotting events because i know itll either crash or not load.

### 2/5 — Frustratingly bad

*2025-03-07, version 19.0.0*

It is shocking that a conference such as sxsw can have such a terrible and unreliable app such as this.

### 4/5 — A bit buggy but overall helpful

*2025-02-28, version 19.0.0*

I’ve been starting my planning for this this year South by Southwest. But the schedule feature keeps force quitting on me in the middle of my research. it makes it quite difficult to look through the schedule. Look someone up online come back into the app and then continue if the schedule quits every time I look.

I’m having is with the search in general. For example I was looking up Passion Pit as they were announced today to be performing. The results had anything that contains the word passion not passion pit.

I know we’re still a week out and so things will still continue to change and get added to the schedule, but it’s been difficult to do my pre-research this year

### 4/5 — Schedule Viewing

*2025-02-21, version 19.0.0*

When you check on an item in the schedule and then go back to the schedule it goes to the beginning rather than the item you were looking at. This makes looking for additional items tedious.

### 1/5 — Log in

*2025-01-31, version 18.0.0*

There doesn’t seem to be any way to log into the app. How do I connect it with my ticket?

### 1/5 — Gone downhill

*2024-03-13, version 17.1.2*

This app has got incrementally worse over the last few years, it’s cluttered and makes it difficult to search by time which would be useful for during the day and the express pass system is unusable, if you are lucky enough to get through in time I kept getting bad gateway or website is busy messages which then mean you have no chance of getting a pass, it’s an awful user experience

### 2/5 — Showcase by Venue

*2024-03-13, version 17.1.2*

I attend SXSW every year as a badge holder. The local free paper is called the Austin Chronicle and every year for decades now they release the schedule by date and organized by venue. Last year on the app or the website there was no way to see the lineup in the classic format. I hit up support and they agreed this is odd. Well. Another year and the schedule is a mess of everything. Big plus on filtering by country of origin tho! I want the dev team to understand that geography is important in planning the experience. Grab a Chronicle.

### 1/5 — PLEASE bring back the ability to see all bands at a venue

*2024-03-12*

This app is trash and you always ignore the feedback, but it was at least somewhat manageable.

If I’ve favorited a band, then any added showcases should show up for that band in my schedule. Instead I have to find out the shows been added and then go locate the artist, find the new show, and manually add it.

You removed the ability to reach a venue through an artists show time that allowed you to see who else was also playing there. Please just bring this back. You took it out and put in a “get directions” button. Just add them both please you’re making it harder every year to see the music and talks we want to see.

It honestly blows my mind that a festival based on technology can’t seem to hire a company or a set of professionals to build a functional app. But don’t worry everyone - the new paramount adds work every time!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback. First off, I want you to know that my team and I review every piece of feedback we receive from our attendees and we take your concerns very seriously. We are always looking for ways to improve our apps and support our attendees as they navigate the event. Next, I would love to help you surface the information that you're looking for in the app. If you click on the link marked Venue Schedule while viewing the interactive map, it will show you the full list of events happening at a given venue. If you're interested in another way to quickly view a showcase lineup, you can tap on the Showcases By Presenter button in the Music menu and view the lineups for each Presenter. If you need additional assistance, please email us at techsupport@sxsw.com and we will be happy to walk you through the process.

### 2/5 — App Challenge Contest

*2024-03-10, version 17.1.2*

Should be an idea moving forward. The suggestions versus opening to your personal schedule is irritating. I’d rather see my favorites and SXSW recommendations. It does serve lots of value and integration with face recognition to open app would save time.

### 3/5 — Basic

*2024-03-10, version 17.1.2*

App hasn’t really changed in years and crashes a lot. Over 100,000 people at the conference, need a better infrastructure if you’re directing people to the app for things.

### 2/5 — Too crowded; session misrepresentation

*2024-03-10, version 17.1.2*

I’ve attended a couple of informative sessions but generally less impressed with SXSW then I expected, as a first timer. The popular sessions were impossible to get into, even for a platinum badge holder, or required waiting for a very long time. And even then, the presentations often did not correspond to the published descriptions. So far I would say it’s not worth the money.

### 1/5 — log me out after couple hours

*2024-03-09, version 17.1.2*

slow and not sync with website.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — So much potential

*2026-03-15, version 102.0.3*

This app could be so much better if they just add the ability to go add to calendar.

It's super hard to actually schedule anything while navigating the conference.

They also could just stop showing the events that have already passed

### 1/5 — App Crashes Frequently

*2026-03-14, version 102.0.3*

As stated, the app crashes every couple of minutes. It’s a pain to make a schedule on or look through events when you’re losing your place every two minutes. Maps are also useless, too many overlays. It would be more useful to redirect to Google Maps.

Updated: Day 3, 2026. App crashes every 20 seconds and trying to remove anything from your schedule just reappears. Trying to stay organized during a chaotic sxsw is impossible with this app. For a tech driven conference, you expect much better.

### 1/5 — Something’s not right

*2026-03-14, version 102.0.3*

The app must be running a function on loop as it drains my battery, stalls, overheats my phone and constantly crashes. If there was zero stars, I’d give that. I’ve tried using the website instead but that is less user friendly as in the schedule, if you select an artist to see more, when you go back it goes to the start of page 1 of the list. For such a large festival I really would have thought they could’ve done better.

### 1/5 — Favoriting artists doesn’t do anything

*2026-03-11, version 102.0.3*

No matter how many different ways I favorite, an artist through the app or the website or how many events I already favorite, if you add another one, you don’t automatically get it added to your schedule. Come on this has to be the absolute easiest thing for y’all to fix it. It’s been like seven years now.

### 1/5 — Lacking basics

*2026-02-26, version 102.0.2.5*

No way to register for a new event and cancel another in a single transaction (aka swap) without risking losing the original only to find out the new event is full. Lacking basic functionality.

### 1/5 — Platinum reservations failure

*2026-02-25, version 102.0.2.5*

App was completely useless during the early platinum reservation window. I couldn’t make a single reservation and they never fixed the issue. Now all cool events are fully booked and SXSW hasn’t offered any resolution or compensation for this major issue.

### 1/5 — isn't sxsw supposed to be a tech conference?

*2025-03-18, version 19.0.1*

Will try to list everything briefly... Unintuitive/repetitious menu structure, poor use of screen space for a small screen, red-yellow-green indicator doesn't work, constantly logs you out, search/filter function is terrible, constantly have to re-navigate to where you were before, doesn't retain changes or save events, I couldn't get contacts to work, lots of useless/superfluous data and lack of essential info. I missed a few events because of this app. Would give zero stars but it did sometimes display what I needed. This could have been such a useful resource.

### 1/5 — What a crApp

*2025-03-13, version 19.0.1*

App crashes constantly, ruining your experience and making you miss opportunities to attend events.

### 1/5 — Worst app

*2025-03-12, version 19.0.1*

Constantly logs me out, constantly lags and excessive adds. Would never ever use this!

### 1/5 — Useless when you need it

*2025-03-11, version 19.0.1*

The app doesn’t show stuff properly. The search doesn’t work many times.
And the search nearby didn’t work and now it’s stuck in “link badge”.
Had to go back to the old days of going to the website schedule and make a list by writing down where what is playing.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Useful but has opportunity

*2026-02-08, version 102.0.0*

The display is bad in iPads and the organization is not intuitive. You should be able to search by venue. The SXX passes aren’t easy to find.

### 5/5 — Scheduled Gap Recommendations

*2024-03-11, version 17.1.2*

Scheduled Gap Recommendations work really well. Great feature.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2023-03-16, version 16.3*

Seamless and easy to navigate ✨

### 5/5 — Great improvements so far!

*2023-01-31, version 16.1.0*

Looking forward to SXSW 23!

### 5/5 — Such information

*2020-05-06, version 13.3*

The app has everything I needed to learn about SXSW. Can’t wait until next year!

### 5/5 — Kinda liveee

*2020-03-03, version 13.2*

I fux wit it

### 5/5 — Getting better each year!

*2019-03-15, version 12.2*

My favorite release of the SXSW app.
This is my first 5 star review.
Really enjoy the sxexpress reservation feature. Also daily updates working more reliably.

### 5/5 — Easy to use, the go-to source

*2019-03-07, version 12.2*

Fantastic app, essential for a successful and wild SXSW!

### 5/5 — Nice update!

*2019-02-26, version 12.2*

My only real gripe is that when going through the day-by-day schedule I have to scroll back to the top when I change days. The app gets better and smoother every year. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Useful but glitchy

*2018-03-23, version 11.4.0*

This is my lifeline at SXSW, hence four stars, but it’s far from perfect. This year (2018) features seemed to roll out through the week’s prior eg listings on favourites had no dates for a while, calendar links arrived late. Networking seems a bit useless and cumbersome. It’s a bit of a work in progress but with such a huge brief that’s not surprising. Keep up the good work & look at integrating social messages if that’s at all possible (yes I know it’s a different sub domain but please try).
