As a teacher, I have found this app to be frustrating for all its limitations. For example, I can see my rolls and take attendance through the app; however, because I cannot mark my students’ absences as either excused or unexcused, it’s practically useless to that end! Additionally, I can input and post grades, but, if any student has exempted or was absent for a graded assignment, they will receive a “0” as soon as those grades are posted in the app...please, update! Sycamore should be embarrassed to have this with their name on it. Don’t use this app until it is repaired. The school encourage use of the app and after downloading it won’t recognize the school number are user ID and they won’t load to let me reset the password even though I’ve reset it three times. Inherently flawed! Hire a programmer to fix or just quit this sham of an app. School agrees and has stated in school newsletter only functions on desktop. Teachers don’t use it and agree. Back button doesn’t work. I log-in, look at one grade for one child and then stuck. Then to look at another child or homework no functioning back button. Taking 4 steps again and again and again to is an epic waste of time. Info on iPhone and iPad doesn’t align with desktop. My daughter has been going to a private school that uses this website/link. I also work for the school and though parents complain about sycamore, I tell them to please be patient because even myself both as staff and parent is still trying to figure things out using it. I have been patient enough the past 3 1/2 yrs but with their new update it has become even WORST… I normally liked to use their app in order for me to look at the school calendar, my daughter’s grades, information her teacher would put, attendance, etc. I was still very limited on what I can do via the app compared to the website, but I was trying my best to be patient. Now, that I had to reset a new password to my account for the new school year that my daughter will be with the school, I’ve lost it with this company. Their app is the worst. Trying to login takes decades to load and now it will not even let me login to use the app. I just really wish the school would invest a bit more and use a better company to use as a platform as to communicate with parents, input student’s grades, attendance, etc. I know per reading the reviews others have left for this app, it looks as if this company does not care about the negative reviews people leave and try to fix it. Since my daughter will be with this school for this coming school year, I guess I will deal with it, but I’m just praying the school changes the company and uses a better company with much better and most definitely updated content. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2025-02-06* I have installed and deleted app many times. If they’re still using it, it has to be because they simply haven’t looked into other options. Has no options other than to pass a note but you never know when you get a note back because there is simply no notification option to select. Doesn’t show dates grades were submitted, cannot see anything that you need to know about the school or classes, even the pass-a-note function hasn’t been functioning half the time lately. Also, the app does bot provide the users to view “notes” left on the grades, which means why the student received a certain grade. It would be nice if it had notifications. I’d love to get a notification when grade is entered and when it’s noted that student has a missing assignment. ### 3/5 — Improvement Necessary *2020-02-14* First of all, I am not here to say this app stinks with a paragraph of bad grammar. I think that there are things that need to be addressed. 1. No PAN notifications? That would be helpful. All you need to do is use background refresh in iOS to check every 15 minutes for a new PAN. Then if there is one, send a UNNotification. Or the better route would be to use push notifications. I would accept either 2. Why can't I look at assignments from previous days? 3. You break the standard swipe the edge of the screen right to go back gesture in most screens. Why? That was going out of your way for unexpected behavior. 3. The PAN sending view controller stinks, I can't see my message I'm typing all at once. 4. Why modal for assignment details? I expect the behavior of pushing a new view controller in the UINavigationController. I am not going to ask for entirely new features like quizzes on the iPhone (that would be nice), but it's the little things that I am asking to fix so you can make the experience great. It would be nice to be able to add cafeteria meal choices, to have access to the directory, and to pay accounts from the Sycamore App; however, you have to go the Sycamore website (full-site), which also isn’t very mobile friendly?
