Back then it was completely free, with some non-intrusive ads. I was very happy to see that, a while back, 2 new level packs were available for purchase, and I was planning on buying them as soon as I finished the first free one (Desert). I was actually very close to that last week, as I was literally on the last set of levels. All of a sudden, with the last update, all my progress is gone and all of the levels that I previously completed are locked behind an extra IAP that was only just introduced.
