### 2/5 — Extremely basic and not useful

*2026-03-01, version 3.5.5*

This app is extremely basic and not useful. You can’t change anything except the temperature and you cannot see any detailed metrics at all. No loop temps, etc. you can’t even change humidity set point from the app.

### 2/5 — Colors

*2026-01-29, version 3.5.5*

The colors in this app are hard to see it would be nice if they had a dark mode also would like to see more metrics for the units, including loop temperature intake temperature supply temperature

### 2/5 — Glitchy and in consistent performance

*2025-12-28, version 3.5.5*

I am using this app on a 7 series system with 3 zones. When opening the app, the screen displays one of the zones. When selecting the temperature control, the temperature reading will increase by 1 degree before changing the setting. Once the setting is changed, you must stay on the screen for about 30 seconds to ensure the new setting is stored. If you select a different zone before this time to view, then return back to original zone, it resets to previous temperature. Sometimes the setting does not stay set and will switch while viewing the display.
Another nuisance, the app does not indicate what zones are open or calling for heat/cool.
It doesn’t appear alot of effort has gone into this app. The previous system we had installed Neat thermostats. That app worked very well. WF could take some notes on how that works to improve this one.

### 2/5 — Crash on new iOS 18

*2024-09-23, version 3.5.0*

After upgrading to iOS 18, app will not load.

### 2/5 — Worst Thermostat app ever

*2024-07-01, version 3.4.0*

It almost never works. You set the temp, you go back to check and it reverted. So undependable it’s rediculous. I’ve had many Thermostat apps before Nest, 3M, Carrier, they all worked more reliably.

It’s also insane the hub on the Waterfurnace can’t be hardwired.

It’s not my WiFi, have smart devices and they all work fine.

There is something fundamentally wrong with how it communicates with the server.

The rest of the app is poorly done as well. Find some real programmers. Because your current ones don’t know what they are doing.

### 2/5 — Overhaul this app already

*2024-01-14, version 3.3.0*

Often doesn't do what it's supposed to do, like adjust the temperature. And I haven't been able to actually connect to my system in ages.

### 1/5 — App and Data System Need Better Setup

*2023-12-26, version 3.2.1*

I use my historical data to understand how well my geothermal unit is running. Suddenly we have 0 days history for the last 12 months. The company needs to make sure it is routinely checking things like this. Almost seems like the updated their cloud storage and forgot to link it to account logins. Their app isn’t routinely updated either so I expect it to be fixed in 10-12 months.

### 2/5 — Horrible Interface

*2023-07-01*

Most unfriendly, non intuitive interface ever

If you turn a zone off and then on it forgets the intermittent settings.

If you want to see usage in $$ you have to enter the cost per kWh every time.

No way to control all zones you have to set each one.

This system cost an absolute fortune and if I could I’d switch to Nest any day.

FYI I write software for a living and have an App in the App Store. It gets 4.9 stars. So trust me they could do a lot better.

### 1/5 — App

*2022-12-31, version 3.0.1*

The app so far has not been good, the information I need to be able to control doesn’t even show on app. Can’t pull information from any other option in the app. Just disappointed so far.

### 1/5 — Has some bugs that need to be fixed

*2022-12-22, version 3.0.1*

As others have said adjusting the temperature on the doesn’t always work. Sometimes it lowers the temp when I’m trying to increase it or vice versa. Or it doesn’t take the change at all Recently it just doesn’t seem to connect the screen is blank but I can get the energy grid to display do it must be connected. There really should be a hardwired option to avoid Wi-Fi since it only supports outdated Wi-Fi. Also getting AWL not connected to server messages lately.

App should support being used over a vpn connection.

### 2/5 — Changes not always saved

*2022-12-18, version 3.0.1*

If I change the temperature set point the change is not always saved to to t-stat on the wall. It works about 1/3 of the time.

I’ve gotten to where I will change it in the app, wait a few minutes then go and check the t-stat on the wall. Then manually make the change that is “saved” in the app.

Very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Needs a lot of work

*2022-12-05, version 3.0.1*

Half the screens don’t fit on an older iPhone SE. Haven’t you ever heard of responsive web design so things fit ALL screens? Half the metrics aren’t even shown that are available. A 4 point schedule is big enough points to make efficient use of a heat pump when you want cooler temps for sleep vs daytime. The 4 points causes the unit to run at full blast at transition points when a multipoint or continual curve based thermostat would allow gentle transitions which optimize efficiency and power consumption.

### 2/5 — Missing key data

*2022-11-19, version 3.0.1*

For the love of God- we have been asking for key performance data including Entering/exit loop temps for years. Just include it already

### 3/5 — Graphs not showing up

*2022-10-17, version 3.0*

I have a WF series 7, since March 2022.
my graphs used to work, now does not display. Webview the graphs do work
I’m on iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 16 latest rev

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-04-24, version 3.5.5*

I can’t even log in to the app.

### 1/5 — Frustrating, annoying, yet easily fixable

*2026-02-05, version 3.5.5*

I have had this app for over a year and use almost every day to monitor our three WaterFurnaces, two Series 7 and one Series 5. Because the software does not remember my user selections from one session to another or from one device to another within a session or even my username or password, I have to repeatedly make selections that any decent app would simply persist in the data base. Apparently whoever wrote this app never actually used it. The same goes for whoever hired the app developer. LAME. Simple stuff like selecting the cost per kilowatt defaults to zero every time you open the app or simply select a different device!?! That’s just dumb. Every time you select a new graphical display of energy usage for a device, the app reports that there is a data error but, surprise surprise, there never is. Those graphs show data per device, again without persisting time frame or frequency, but do not consolidate data across multiple devices that you might have. This would be a trivially simple coding task…it’s a freaking data base app.

### 1/5 — Unusable due to Bugs

*2025-09-12, version 3.5.3*

App crashes when attempting to set a schedule, struggles to connect reliably.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-07-31, version 3.5.3*

Never works and zero support. Find a different app.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-07-31, version 3.5.3*

Written years ago and never updated. Looks old. Acts old. Performs old. Archaic functions.

### 1/5 — When it says for age 4+…

*2025-02-18, version 3.5.3*

That’s the age of the programmers that wrote this system.

### 1/5 — Needs Work

*2024-11-18, version 3.5.3*

This app just never gets any better. Releases are infrequent, but every release has the same problems as the prior version. For example, you can’t resize the app. The bottom half of the app is off-screen and there is no way to make it display. There are controls down there, but you can’t access them. So the sub-screens cannot be displayed. Hence the usefullness of the app is greatly diminished.

### 1/5 — Still crashes as of September 23 after updating

*2024-09-24, version 3.5.1*

The crashing started of the app on iOS 18 you guys did an update today, but it did not fix anything.

### 1/5 — Water Furnace great radiant unit but…

*2024-04-17, version 3.4.0*

They should leave this to the consumer electronic experts. Multiple issues and works about 1/2 the time. Get a Nest.

### 1/5 — So Many Issues and Room for Improvement

*2024-03-09, version 3.3.1*

Constantly getting a pop up notice asking me to log in. Energy graph should save your electrical rate. Selecting a timeline for energy use is too difficult and cumbersome to use easily and quickly. Why does it default to a year prior and I have to navigate 12 months just to get recent days to select on the calendar? Most of the time when selecting a timeline it says “Error” when requesting the data. Please please invest in this app. Your units are too expensive to be so poorly supported by the software that we use to manage them.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great for my Water Furnace.

*2024-11-01, version 3.5.2*

No delay when inputting a change of heat.

### 4/5 — Works well

*2025-07-11, version 3.5.3*

This app works well, especially for control of the thermostat! Would be wonderful to see Apple Watch added to the functionality for simple control.

### 4/5 — Almost there…

*2023-12-02*

Hello,
The app does the job. I would give it 5 stars if it was possible to see which zone initiate the demand. In my app I can see the status of the system (heating or cooling and the stage applied to the system and all zones, I have 4 zones) but it does not say which zone ask for it!
Thank you
Andrew

### 4/5 — Good but Better w/Full Data & Parameters

*2023-02-05, version 3.1.0*

It has worked fairly well but frequently I must access the Symphony webpage for items not accessible from the app, such as alert settings, loop temperature, return/supply temperatures, etc. I hope eventually the app is expanded.

### 4/5 — Handles primary functions well - could do more

*2022-09-18, version 3.0*

We have had our new 7 series operating for a week now. The app is interesting and I’m enjoying having it.

I’ll offer two suggestions to the developers which would improve the experience.

1) a “Widget” should be available for iOS so that the information can appear in the swipe left command center.

2) this system is all about energy efficiency. The app should have capability to get current energy cost directly from my utility and then display actual real energy cost of the Waterfurnace. That would take this from being a convenience to being a killer app.

Thanks.

### 4/5 — Buggy but okay

*2020-07-02, version 1.2*

I would love to be able to delete a thermostat that no longer exists so I didn’t have to continually scroll past it.

Setting temps is a bit hit or miss.

WF7 owner

### 4/5 — Cancel means "Don't make any changes"

*2017-06-25, version 1.1*

When I'm viewing the vacation settings and press "Cancel" I mean "Don't make any changes." Please add something that says "Cancel Vacation" like on the thermostat.

And thank you for the AID Tool in the AWL.

### 4/5 — Needs daily and monthly energy usage

*2015-06-28, version 1.0.2*

Very nicely done app. But it could really use daily and monthly energy usage data, not just real-time usage. Very useful for vacation homes.

### 3/5 — Version 3.0

*2023-02-01, version 3.1.0*

iPhone app lacks one critical piece of info. What is the loop temp? This is the only thing missing. Seems like they would include it, since they show it on the web application.

### 3/5 — Some bugs need to be fixed

*2022-12-04, version 3.0.1*

I use the app with zoning so maybe my problems are specific to that:
- when I change the temperature setting or any other setting I have to keep the app open for a while or it won’t take over the change
- if I want to change a thermostat from heating to auto or cooling it will only do it if I also change a temperature at the same time but it will take the heating temperature number for cooling and vice versa
- vacation mode works but not if you travel in a time zone that is ahead and the date has switched so I had to manually change my time zone on my phone to home, for example I cannot choose to start the mode now if my date is December 5 while back home it’s the 4th
I would hope the app could be more transparent as to what mode or schedule segment it is in right now. An permanent hold override would be nice.
