## What is Symply?

Private by design — no account, no data harvesting. Your data stays on your device and in your own private iCloud. Never sold, never shared.

Symply replaces the paper asthma diary with something you'll actually keep up — fast to log, and genuinely useful at your next appointment. Every reading, symptom and dose builds a clear picture of your triggers, your control, and what to show your GP.

THE DOCTOR VISIT REPORT
Turn months of logs into a clinical-grade PDF — peak flow trends with GINA zones, symptom and trigger summaries, reliever and preventer use, a weekly control table and a conditions summary. Hand it to your GP instead of trying to remember.

ONE APP INSTEAD OF FIVE
Peak flow, medications, symptoms, triggers, environment and the doctor report — all in one place.

LOG IN SECONDS
• Peak flow — up to 3 blows, best reading and zone calculated for you
• Symptoms — wheeze, cough, chest tightness, breathlessness and allergy symptoms, with severity
• Triggers — pollen, dust, exercise, cold air, heat, smoke, pets and more
• Medications — relievers, preventers and OTC meds, with drug-info autofill for common UK and US brands
• Inhaler dose countdown — doses left, and a nudge to refill in time
• Prescription & inhaler history — from requested to issued, collected and run empty
• Rescue or preventer inhaler — one tap from a widget or Siri

YOUR ACTION PLAN
• Built around the plan your doctor wrote — AIR, MART, traditional, or a child plan
• Three colour-coded stages with your peak-flow numbers, inhaler details and attack-response steps
• Reliever over-use warnings if you log more than your plan allows
• Format follows Asthma + Lung UK and GINA guidance

STAY ON TOP OF YOUR PREVENTER
• Gentle reminders when you've missed your daily maintenance doses, plus a preventer streak
• MART support (e.g. Fostair) — one inhaler as both preventer and reliever, with a heads-up if you need extra puffs more often
• Switched inhaler? Symply prompts you to re-measure your personal best and compares your control before and after
• Adherence calendar — see your preventer taken, partial or missed, day by day

KNOW YOUR ASTHMA
• Weekly reliever check — how many days you've needed your reliever, a key sign of control
• Trends — peak flow, AM/PM variation, rescue use, sleep impact and trigger links
• Two-week peak-flow grid and a month calendar

UNDERSTAND YOUR TRIGGERS
• 7-day pollen and air-quality forecast for your area
• Heatwave and high-pollen alerts — a heads-up the evening before, because heat, ozone and pollen can trigger asthma
• Vacation Planner — destination pollen and air-quality outlook, plus a travel checklist

WHERE YOUR ASTHMA FLARES
• Optional, on-device place tagging — see where you tend to log symptoms, like a family home that flares you
• Pollen, air quality, temperature and humidity are saved with each log

LEARN AS YOU GO
• Plain-language education on asthma, allergies, medications and warning signs, from NHS, GINA and Asthma + Lung UK, plus guided breathing exercises

EVERYWHERE YOU NEED IT
• Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and Siri Shortcuts to log a rescue or preventer dose hands-free
• Apple Health — your sleep (with fell-asleep and woke times), breathing rate, blood oxygen and heart rate beside your asthma; save doses and symptoms back too
• Private iCloud sync, plus file backup and restore on any device
• Multiple profiles — track yourself and your family from one app

Free to try for 7 days. Keep premium with a yearly plan or a one-time lifetime purchase.

Built by someone who lives with asthma too — read "My story with asthma" inside the app.

Symply helps you track and understand your asthma — it does not provide a diagnosis or medical advice. Always follow the guidance of your healthcare provider.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.0 — 2026-07-13

Stay on top of your preventer — our biggest preventer & safety update yet.

NEW
• Your preventer, day by day — tap Controller Adherence in Trends to open a month calendar. Every day is marked taken, partial or missed, so you can spot the gaps (like a missed evening dose) at a glance. It's in your doctor report too, as a 4-week grid.
• Smart preventer reminders — a gentle nudge to take your daily preventer: in the morning when your Apple Watch sees you wake (or a time you choose), and again in the evening. Turn it on in Manage Reminders; it's skipped if you've already logged the dose.
• Safety heads-ups for your inhalers — Symply now tells you, kindly, if you reach your reliever's daily maximum or need it on more days than usual, or if you're carrying a separate blue reliever alongside a MART/AIR inhaler that's already your reliever. Information for your GP, never medical advice.
• Open a dose to add detail — tap any logged dose, on Today or in History, to add triggers or a note, or fix the time. Preventer doses now also record the pollen, air quality, temperature and humidity at the moment you logged them — just like reliever puffs.
• Your preventer shows everywhere — doses now appear in your History list, your doctor export (PDF and CSV), the home-screen widget, and a new per-day chart in Trends.
• The right limits for your inhaler — recognised MART/AIR inhalers (Fostair, Fostair NEXThaler, Symbicort, DuoResp, Fobumix) carry their correct daily maximum, and AIR (as-needed only) is fully supported.
• Cold-snap alerts — cold, dry air is a common trigger, so Symply now warns you the evening before a cold day, alongside the hot-weather alerts.
• Smarter pollen — the Air & Pollen card shows which pollen (grass, tree or weed) is highest today, and flags thunderstorm-asthma days.
• A new read on hay fever and hidden triggers — including a surprisingly common one: mould in a car's air-conditioning.

CHANGED
• Late-night doses count for the night before — log a dose in the small hours and Symply counts it toward the day you were still awake for. Your day rolls over at 4am, the same as your sleep.

Private by design, as always: no account, your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, never sold.

### 1.4.1 — 2026-07-05

A fairer preventer score

FIXED
• Controller (preventer) adherence now measures from the day you added your inhaler — so a newly-added preventer no longer shows a misleadingly low score for days it wasn't yet in the app. The Trends card and the doctor report both use the fairer calculation.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-07-02

Where & when your asthma flares

NEW
• Places & your asthma — see where you tend to log symptoms (like a family home that flares you), with a prep checklist for visiting somewhere damp or older. Under More → Places.
• Tag where you log (optional, off by default) — Symply can save a rough place with each log. It stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
• Conditions saved with every log — pollen, air quality, temperature and humidity are recorded at the moment you log, even a quick reliever puff, and shown on each entry. Trends can show whether your symptoms cluster on high-pollen days, and your doctor report includes a conditions summary.
• Keep your preventer on track — a gentle reminder if you've missed your daily maintenance doses, a well-done for keeping the habit, and a preventer streak in your Streaks. For MART inhalers like Fostair, Symply also flags if you're reaching for extra reliever puffs more often. Turn on "MART inhaler" when you edit a medication.
• When you fell asleep and woke — last night's sleep card now shows the times you drifted off and woke from your Apple Watch, not just the total hours.
• Log your preventer with Siri — say "Log preventer in Symply" or add the shortcut to your Home Screen / Siri Suggestions to log a Fostair dose hands-free, just like the rescue-dose shortcut.
• Switched inhaler? — if you change your preventer (say Symbicort to Fostair), Symply reminds you to re-measure your personal best and shows your reliever use, symptom days and peak flow before and after the switch.
• Your activity, in Apple Health — Symply reads your workouts and exercise minutes, so cycling, swimming and strength count too, not just steps. Set a step goal, see your Apple Watch exercise goal, and track the days you hit them.
• Personal bests — we'll cheer your wins: your longest reliever-free run, activity-goal streaks, a new peak-flow best, your calmest month of breathing.
• Your day — a friendly daily briefing on the Today screen pulling together your sleep, pollen, activity and reliever use.
• A kinder word — honest, gentle guides on steroids and how they can change your body (with reassurance if you use a steroid inhaler), pet & animal allergies, and a Body Acceptance Day moment each May.
• My story with asthma — a personal note from me on why Symply exists: being told I'd "grown out of" asthma as a child, and getting diagnosed again at 27. In the intro and under More → About. — Venetsia

CHANGED
• We've paused the monthly Asthma Control Check while we sort out the right licence for the questionnaire behind it — everything you've logged is safe.

FIXED
• Your logs, wherever you look — a logged preventer dose or peak-flow reading now shows in your History and calendar and counts toward your logging streak, not just on Today.
• Fixed a rare crash when exporting the doctor report.

Privacy first, as always: no account, your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, never sold.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-01

Symply + Apple Health

Connect Apple Health and Symply now shows your sleep, breathing rate, blood oxygen, resting heart rate and HRV right alongside your asthma — so you can see how your body and your symptoms line up.

• A new "Health & your asthma" screen: last night's sleep stages, your last 7 days at a glance, and trends against your usual. Open it from More → Apple Health, or make it your own tab.
• See how your sleep lines up with the days you logged symptoms or reached for your reliever.
• Optionally save your reliever doses and symptoms back to Apple Health — off by default.
• Your doctor report can include your Apple Health summary too.

Everything stays on your device and in your own iCloud — no account, no tracking. Symply never diagnoses; it helps you notice patterns and have better conversations with your clinician.

### 1.2.3 — 2026-06-15

Tell us what you want — or what's broken
• Symply is built for you. Now you can share what's working, what's missing, what to build next — or anything that's broken. Find "Send Feedback" under More (it takes under a minute).

Fixed
• When you had more than one inhaler that wasn't empty, the dose countdown could track the wrong one. Now you can pick which inhaler you're using — in Prescription History, swipe it and tap "Use this one." Thanks to everyone who flags things like this.
