## What is Sympt?

Born out of my own personal need for my partner who has suffered with a number of long term chronic health issues, Sympt is a no subscription, no in-app purchase application to help us and other people with chronic illness. Sympt absolutely does not diagnose conditions - the aim is to help capture data that in my experience is helpful, as quickly as possible, to ease communications between you and your doctors, ultimately to give them a better picture than without this data at hand.

From my experience, I believe it is important to make it super easy to log symptoms fast, as well pain levels, medications, meals, and medical visits.

I also know first hand that doctors tend to ask the same things, and it gets very repetitive - what is your medical history, what medications are you on, what's changed or happened since last visit, and so on.

With this in mind, Sympt allows you to generate detailed PDF reports covering any time period to share with the healthcare professionals you work with, hopefully to give them everything they need quickly, and even more importantly with consistency when you're working with several specialists - they all get the same base level information.

Sympt works on a basic principal that some data is better than no data - and more data (if possible) is going to be better again. I found first hand when you're dealing with an episode of pain - logging that (or remembering/caring to later) for someone suffering is often an unlikely proposition.

When you're in pain, suffering from nausea or some other condition - you don't want to be spending time logging information. That's why with Sympt you can log almost anything in one or two taps ideally, even from your Apple Watch... we may not get everything, but the simpler we can make it to get something - the better. That was the idea, anyway.

Key App Features:
  - Quick-log symptoms, pain, meals, and medications - Logging is hard when you're in pain or having some sort of episode, so speedy logging is a fundamental part of this app. The idea is that some data is better than no data - and you can one-tap log from your watch for most logging, or two if you need to add a value (like pain level, blood glucose level, weight, etc.)
  - Track blood pressure, blood glucose, weight, and more
  - Apple Watch companion for logging on the go
  - Smart and customisable symptom and medication lists per condition
  - PDF reports with summaries for 7, 30, 90 days or all time
  - Daily reminders and medication reminders
  - iCloud backup and sync
  - All data stays on your device — no account required

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.34 — 2026-05-19

Fix for timeline when last entry was over 7 days ago, timeline did not appear.

### 1.33 — 2026-05-14

Added new 'pin' capability to pin anything outside of a symptom (meds, meals, exercise) to the quick log menu. Fixed a bug in blood pressure graphs as well.

### 1.32 — 2026-04-12

Fixes two reporting bugs: blood pressure graphs were incorrectly offset and drawn outside of the graph area for systolic BP, and sleep rating on graph ratings were treated as a 'severity' which is incorrect. Also fixes '+' in front of Pain on Apple Watch. This release also adds new conditions, symptoms and medications for certain movement and muscular disorders such as dystonia.

### 1.31 — 2026-04-07

Fixes iPad / iPhone Sync issues, and significantly improves reporting. Also offers an on/off toggle for using Apple Intelligence for report summary.

### 1.30 — 2026-04-04

Sympt now runs on a completely new data engine. Your symptom journal, medications, meals, and all entries are stored in a fast, crash-resistant event store that syncs reliably between your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Upgrading from v1.1 is automatic — your data migrates on first launch.

Cross-device sync has been rebuilt from the ground up. Adding a new device or restoring after a reset now takes under a minute via iCloud, with no manual steps required. Delete everywhere works reliably, with generation-based safety checks to prevent accidental data loss.

Backups are now automatic (daily, monthly, yearly) and include your full journal plus reminder images. You can tap any backup to verify its contents, view a complete timeline replay of what's inside, and even recover missing metadata from older backups with one tap.

Throughout the app you'll find haptic feedback on every button, improved search placeholders, instant timeline updates after edits, and numerous bug fixes for settings, conditions, medications, and Watch quick logging.
