It keeps disconnecting from my pico and won’t let me reconnect. I keep trying to add the device manually but it won’t work. Have never been able to program the controller locally and or in the SYNA G Cloud app. I can coo etc but nothing ever stays programmed. I have unplugged and moved my gyres / controller and moved into onto an APEX system. App does not recognize my unit even though it connects to the network. There is zero assistance or help to solve this. Maxie support link does not work on their website. Max I can get out of these is 50%. I have tried deleting my account. Deleting the app and reinstalling it. I now have a $600-$700 brick and not enough water movement. I do not recommend these gyres to anyone. The most unused friendly system out there. ### 1/5 — Quite the worst software ever! *2024-12-14, version 1.4.6* This software is quite the worst ever released to a consumer market. Is supposed to control relatively high end aquarium equipment, but it’s badly designed, poorly tested mainly undocumented and spoils what could be perfectly fine physical devices by overlaying a simply awful software experience. When you buy software controlled devices both the physical device and it’s App controls have to operate properly. Maxspect fail to understand this and it’s a good reason to avoid their products. ### 1/5 — WiFi *2024-11-26, version 1.4.5* I have had these wave makers for 3 yrs. Pump is great. WiFi connection with control module is horrible. Constantly loses or drops WiFi connection. ### 1/5 — still useless after app update *2024-11-14, version 1.4.5* My 350CE pump controller is still not able to be connected to the app. Frustrating! ### 1/5 — Just so SO bad. *2024-11-12, version 1.4.5* Imagine a delivery firm making it needlessly difficult to organise the delivery of a package, constantly asking for your name, insisting your credentials are wrong and setting particular standards to which you can even login. Then, after turning up on your doorstep the guy holding your parcel whips it away at the last second and the firm makes you go through the whole process again. Welcome to syna-g. Want to login? Re enter your details. Remember your password? Well, the app doesn’t. Everything reset? Well, connection timeout. Finally get in? The apps crashed, start again. I could only get this app to connect using 5g data, of course that means you can’t connect to the device which is on a WiFi channel. Turn on WiFi? No problem, back to the login screen. Remember to re enter all your details. This is besides the point that the control module for my less than a year old 2x 330 set up is showing glitched warning indicators. I’ve given up trying to connect to the app now which is a shame. I doubt I’ll get any help from the devs being as the app seems to use broken English. I basically spent a lot of money on something I saved a long time for to have a device with a very specific feature that isn’t even accessible. I’m gutted. Unfortunately i don’t think I’ll ever buy anything aspect again. AI Nero or red sea from here on out. ### 1/5 — Crashes constantly *2024-11-11, version 1.4.5* Don’t spend any time making a nice custom schedule. Seems like I have a defective tank. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2026-01-19, version 1.5.6* App is awful, always struggle to connect a device, definitely a reason why I would leave maxspect due to the app and not the lights, sort it out ### 1/5 — App doesn’t work *2025-12-01, version 1.5.6* Ima trying to set up the app to better control the pump and it’s not connecting to internet or syncing Thur the app the PUMP works fine the app to control it is a different story ### 1/5 — Maxspect xf350 cloud edition gyres *2025-10-09, version 1.5.5* As in other reviews, got to be the worst app, do yourself a favour and avoid buying this, right out the box one of the gyres made a awful sound when going above 30% power, and also after cleaning, eventually found out one of the motor bushings had literally seized onto the ceramic rotor pole, I know there fine tolerance’s but come on. Had to buy new bushings to fix the problem from the factory Then the control unit kept disconnecting from the cloud, so had to turn off and back on for it to reconnect. Everything was fine with the running of the gyres until I changed internet providers, reconnected the control box to the internet, so when it came time to adjust the program I had set, low and behold the gyre controller won’t connect to the cloud, bcuk have been very helpful, found out the one I have is installed with version 3.6 which is around 2 or so years out of date, so now it needs a update. Honestly this should be a easy fix, ie update itself or through the app. For the money the app and control box should have a more detailed interface. Lets say if i wanted to start the day with 60% and end by 7 in the night with 20% i cannot control it. Need to develop the application interface, as it is facing some connectivity issues. More modes should be implemented as device screen has more flow types than the application. ### 3/5 — Ho hum *2025-11-01, version 1.5.5* Seemed to work for a bit but was way less than intuitive. This would be a good feature and should already be implemented. ### 2/5 — Barely useable *2025-04-07* The app itself is barely usable. The biggest problem is just connecting to the light (MJ-L165). For those unable to split their WiFi spectrum into a separate 2.4 GHz channel, you’re left with only using the light’s built in WiFi access point and setting your phone to use it. Hint: turn off private browsing and limit IP tracking to get the app to even see the light. It would be nice to have some guidance for this, but there aren’t even helpful error messages. Once you’re in, it’s all manual, since there’s no real internet connection and no way to download presets. Again, no guidance on setting the colors, you just have to play around. Be quick, though, because your phone will want to switch back to a real network connection. ### 2/5 — Worst app ever *2025-02-08* No matter how good the product is the worst is the app. Crashing again and again. From last one month I am trying to save the settings but the app crashes and no report option comes on your screen. If App and wifi issues get resolved I will change to five stars ### 2/5 — Clunky & Unstable *2024-02-12* Although I love the hardware, the app is a bit counterintuitive and requires a ton more user testing. It freezes frequently and visualizing any schedules are challenging on a mobile device. The app disconnects from WiFi as does the controller making the pump impossible to control with a hard reset each time WiFi is disconnected or unit is turned off. This makes it impossible to coordinate with an Apex controller feed cycles.
