I think the overall intention is fantastic, but I don’t think enough people are wanting to stay to complete an hour+ long questionnaire, and because of that no one completes their profile. So the people who have completed their profile, they don’t have any matches. I liked the questions that I asked, however, it kept asking me the same questions in different ways. There is not enough pool of people. ### 2/5 — buggy and slow *2026-07-19* the AI is super slow, asks repetitive questions, and after I answer, it looks like it's about to respond, but it doesn't, i keep having to continuously close and reopen the app to get through all the questions, the ux/ui is not great either, it's takes too long to reach the 80% threshold they have set **Developer response:** Thank you for sticking with it despite those issues — and for being specific about what went wrong. That really helps us. Not to make excuses, but the instability in the third week in July was caused by third party service timeouts. We resolved it by changing to a different service. You shouldn't need to close and reopen the app anymore. On the repetition, we shipped a major upgrade in July that makes the conversation significantly smarter about building on your previous answers. On the 80% threshold: that gate is there because matches below it rarely lead to meaningful connections. But we understand it's frustrating when it feels out of reach. There are technical issues plaguing SYNC-needs work asap ### 3/5 — Great start, but questions are getting repetitive *2026-04-26* I enjoyed thinking out my answers at first, but now they’re getting repetitive and tedious with only one match that appeared, then disappeared this week. ### 1/5 — The worst app! *2026-04-22* I’ve spent 3 months answering 42 questions. But each question had maybe 4-6 more! And NO matches! It’s just you talking to an AI bot with no guidance on the actual matching aspect ### 1/5 — Does. Not. Work. *2026-04-21* It’s one thing to say it’s for people who want to invest. But there’s a line. It took hours to get through the questions. Eventually, since how it works lacks transparency, around hour five I started trying to ask why the app behaves the way it does and how I should use it - I’ve never felt more gaslit by AI and that says a lot these days. Then it starts factoring your frustration into your “bio/soulprint.” Not to mention these are all deep questions that really make you feel bad about yourself. And once you finally finish them - it just keeps asking you them but worded differently. Your “match percentages” never show up and the tech team doesn’t respond. They’re not making ad money so I have to assume it’s either a) absolute garbage ai (sorry, not sorry) or b) data mining lonely people. Sorry Matt. I tried. I really did. I had it A LOT of info and thought really hard about my answers. Maybe this thing only works for basic people in a bubble or are so emotionally immature that we could give them a “most improved” award in the relationship department for learning some baby steps. Zero stars. **Developer response:** We hear you, and we're not going to brush past what you're saying. You invested hours, you took the questions seriously, and the experience didn't respect that investment. That's on us. A few things directly: the repetition issue was real, and we shipped a major upgrade in July to fix it. The conversation is now significantly better at building on what you've already shared. On the questions feeling like they make you feel bad about yourself — that's never the intent. These are deep questions because shallow ones produce shallow matches, but we have a responsibility to make sure the experience feels supportive, not punishing. We're taking that feedback seriously. On transparency and the SoulPrint: you deserve to understand how the app works and what's happening with your answers. If you asked and didn't get a clear response, that's a failure on our part. It seems wonderful in theory but there are serious errors no one is helping with. ### 2/5 — A dessert *2026-03-22* I’ve answered all the questions the AI bot had for me, I told it as much about who I am and what kind of person I’m looking for as I can to the point where it just keeps asking me the same questions just worded differently. I’ve been using this daily for a week and have zero people in my slots. Am I the only user? **Developer response:** You're definitely not the only user! When you left this review back in March, we were in our earliest days with a very small user base — so your experience made sense, even though we know it was frustrating. A lot has changed since then. We now have thousands of users and dozens of new people joining daily, with matches happening regularly. On the repetition issue you mentioned, we also shipped a major upgrade in July that makes the conversation much smarter about building on what you've already shared. I’m still waiting to finish answering all the questions- so exhausting and a waste of time! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No *2026-09-04* Ridiculous, it just keeps adding questions to your initial “interview.” It does help clarify what qualities are important, but with no results. And the speech function is laggy and repetitive. Please fix so people can actually use it. ### 1/5 — Violation of privacy!! *2026-08-29* I'm appalled and enraged. I was answering the questions using the voice functionality in the app. Then I left the app and opened WhatsApp to listen to and send voice notes with my friends, forgetting all about the sync app in the background. When I came back to this app, it had recorded the audio from WhatsApp personal voice messages I was sending to my friends!!! I feel completely violated and infuriated. This is totally unacceptable and immediately needs to be fixed. My trust is completely broken in this app. I've never used an app that breached privacy in this way. Even if it's a technical bug, it needs to be addressed immediately. **Developer response:** Thank you for this feedback. We are fixing it. We take this very seriously and want to address it directly. First, we received the in-app feedback you provided. Please rest assured that all data associated with your account has been permanently deleted from our systems. We want to explain what happened here. The voice feature in Sync was designed so you could talk to the app hands-free, even when your phone screen locks — the way you might during a long, reflective conversation while walking or lying on the couch. Unfortunately, the platform we build on does not allow us to distinguish between the screen locking and the app moving to the background when you switch to another app. To enable the screen-lock functionality, we have to use a background audio mode that stays active in both cases. That means if you left Sync mid-conversation and opened another app, the audio session remained active when it absolutely should not have. We are currently building a feature that puts this control directly in your hands. You'll be able to choose whether you want background audio on or off. If you turn it off (it will be default off), the voice session will end the moment you leave the app. If you turn it on for the hands-free experience, you'll be making that choice knowingly. This was a technical limitation, not an intention, but that distinction doesn't change your experience and we understand why your trust is broken. We should have anticipated this scenario and we should have shipped the toggle much earlier. That's on us. We're sorry, and we're fixing it. ### 1/5 — My account suddenly disappeared *2026-08-26* After almost two months of asking questions, my account mysteriously disappeared. I’m still waiting for their support team to get back to me. ### 1/5 — Worst dating app *2026-08-24* This app doesnt gets you anywhere you are stuck in a loop of questions and you ll regret why did i installed this app. ### 1/5 — Really awful *2026-08-04* Do not recommend at all. Terrible for your autonomy in using a dating app. Be careful what you tell the AI assistant because it will put it all out there in your profile. If you ask personal information to be removed, it will claim to do that, but it will just put it right back in there. You cannot edit what the AI writes about you. This is totally unacceptable, you should be able to control your own profile. I reached out through two support channels to get assistance with this. Never got any response from either. I deleted my profile. Made a new one and was very careful how I answered so my private info would not be in the profile. But of course that means a lot of info that would be useful behind the scenes in making good matches is not getting shared. Because there is no option for privacy control on what is shared with the AI and what is made public. There is an option to write your own bio, so you can add a bit of personality but overall it is reducing everyone to a bland AI rendition of our wants and needs. Everyone very boring when AI writes us. Also there are very few people on the app, and of course this should get better over time if more people use it. **Developer response:** Thank you for this detailed feedback — we hear you, and you're raising real issues that matter to us. We're focused on NYC right now and adding many new members every day. ### 1/5 — Good, but not for dating or finding a partner *2026-07-30* If you want to truly dig deep and learn about yourself, get this app and get ready to dig deep into your past and your feelings to the point where you’re emotionally exhausted by answering all of the questions. By the end you will gain lots of knowledge on yourself. But forget about meeting someone on there. It’s useless for that. **Developer response:** We really appreciate you saying that about the self-discovery experience — that's exactly the value we're trying to create with Sync. On the emotional exhaustion — we hear you. The interview is deep because surface-level questions lead to surface-level matches. But we also know there's a line between meaningful and draining. Just so you know, you can pause the conversation anytime and come back when you're ready — there's no pressure to get through it all in one sitting. That said, your feedback tells us we need to do a better job making that clear and pacing the experience overall. It's something we're actively working on. Now, the other half of your feedback: if you're not meeting anyone, the app isn't delivering on its core promise. We're still in early beta and focused on growing in NYC, so the match pool is smaller than it will be. There are technical issues plaguing SYNC-needs work asap-I was not able to connect with any of my matches, they all disappeared and held on 79% and the vibe check didn’t work either. I don’t know how much longer the bait is going on, but so far it has not worked, all of my matches expired at 79% as well as the vibe sync not working when I would delete somebody it would stay up there. We'll make sure you get a response this time. ### 1/5 — Technical issues *2026-07-18* The app is not ready to be used. I got stuck not being able to update sync list. Too glitchy… ### 1/5 — Endless questions with no matches *2026-05-07* You are initially presented with 21 questions, which you can answer by typing or using voice prompts. The 21 questions have 3-5 sub-questions each. In reality you are answering well over a hundred questions. Some of the questions are thought provoking, but many are just repetitive. After those questions, you can continue answering more repetitive questions endlessly. The worst part is, your “soul score” never reaches the 80% needed, so you have several profiles you are presented with but you can’t chat with. I used it on-and-off for about a month. This app is garbage for dating/matchmaking. I get a lot more dates on Hinge. **Developer response:** Thanks for the honest feedback. A few things directly: Back in May, match quality and frequency was low due to our tiny user base. Now in August, there's dozens of new users joining the New York private beta daily, with noticeable increases in match quality and frequency. On getting more dates on Hinge — that's a fair comparison right now. Hinge has millions of users and years of scale. We're five months into beta. What we're building is fundamentally different: matches based on deep compatibility, not just swiping. That takes longer to pay off, but when it does, the quality is on another level. No profiles to browse, just a conversation and then a list of people the AI thinks you'd actually sync with. Some of the questions can feel long but I'd rather invest time upfront than waste it on bad dates. I’m tired of endless swiping and matches that go no where. I want something meaningful and real. I have spent a lot of time talking to the AI, and redirect if it repeats, or just share stories or major change life events. My SoulPrint truly represents who I am and what I’m looking forward. The user base is slowly developing, the app is getting better, each update. I am looking forward to more gay users, and my first connection. Sync has helped me learn more about myself and what I’m actually looking for in a partner. ### 5/5 — It’s for those who really want to invest *2026-03-26* If you’re used to cutesy dating profiles and wanna make a quick one to get to the swiping for instant gratification and instant marches, this app is not for you. What I love about sync is that it’s truly designed for those who are willing to put in the time, effort, and invest in a tool with long term commitment in mind. And it weeds out those not willing to put in that work, which makes me feel much safer as a female. Not to mention, I am learning about myself by simply answering the AI questions since it summarizes and synthesizes your answers—and makes you really think about what you truly want in a relationship. I will report back after using it more but so far this is so much better than the other dating app I’ve used. It’s new so it likely will take time for it to build a user base but I’m sure it is worth sticking it out ### 4/5 — Good matchmaking app *2026-08-27* First dating app and AI is helpful ### 4/5 — Needs more attention *2026-04-30* Good questions but they do start getting really repetitive, i started answering what qualities i was interested in like 4-6 different times while i was giving a lot of detail, i dont like that part, and im okay with the questions but not dishonesty, the ai said id be going through 20 questions, and i gave a bunch of detail spent hours answering these questions for it to start asking the same ones over and over. And 20 questions turned into like 40-50 questions **Developer response:** Thank you for this — and for putting in that kind of time. Hours of thoughtful answers is no small thing, and we don't take that lightly. You're raising two issues and both are valid. On the repetition: you're right. If you gave detailed answers about the qualities you're looking for and then got asked similar things multiple times, that's a failure on our end to recognize what you've already shared. We shipped a major upgrade on July 18 that specifically addresses this — the AI is now much better at building on your earlier answers instead of retreading them. If you gave it another try, you'd notice a real difference. On the question count: you're right, and we owe you a straight answer on that. The interview can go beyond 20 questions depending on depth and follow-ups, and we need to be upfront about that from the start rather than setting an expectation we don't hold to. We're listening. ### 4/5 — Great concept, needs work *2026-04-23* I love the premise of the app. The questions from the AI are very deep and thoughtful questions and I feel like they really hone in on what’s important to you. However, I don’t entirely know how that translates to finding a match. From what it seems, the user base is so small that after an hour or more of intense questioning, to only have 2 matches across the country doesn’t feel great. While I do appreciate the investment of time and intention to establish your “SoulScore”, there’s not enough in the pool for it to be worth it.
