## What is Sync Energy?

We've rebranded: Sync Energy is the new name for BG SyncEV!


If you are an installer of our products, you will use the Sync Energy App for all installations whether the Charger is branded Sync Energy or BG SyncEV.


• Sync Energy Branded products will use the New Sync Energy home user App.
• BG Sync EV Branded products will continue to use Monta for the home user App.

App keeps disconnecting from WiFi then takes multiple resets & app see’s charger but won’t connect to it at WiFi stage even when I connected to same WiFi update after I called had amazing tech help & in the end got problem resolved what great customer service

### 1/5 — Masterplug EV charger

Was made to move to this app from the Monta app that was previously used on the Masterplug EV Charger. This app does not allow you to input the kwh rate, and does not calculate session cost, or enable monthly report to be produced showing the charging costs - All basic functions on other charging apps. I’m now unable to calculate monthly charge costs for business expenses on this app. Really poor.

Edit based on developer response - So I don’t want, and am not able to use tariff sense as you don’t list my tariff, and I am capable of setting charging myself using the schedule - in short based on your response, there is no ability to report costs with this app and it’s evidently no where near as good or as intuitive as the original Monta app. I have no choice but to struggle on without until such a time as the additional features are added, whenever that is!

Edit - I will try out what you have said although I am on Next Smart Saver Fixed - (triple rate tariff) There is only option for single and dual rate from what I can see if trying to do manual.

**Developer response:** Hi. What tariff are you on please? In the mean time, in Tariff Sense you can input your rates manually. Even if you use manual charging, as long as your rates are in Tariff Sense then the charge history will show previous charges and their cost.

Used this app on my newly installed Sync Energy 2 wall charger, app always errors when looking for firmware updates (Monta found it and installed it), schedule was set in the app and it started 4 hours early and no matter how many times I cancelled it on the app it just continued or restarted, ended up using the car to disconnect, I even removed all the schedules and it still continued to charge, installed Monta and everything worked fine…, not a great experience for a new EV user

**Developer response:** Hello, we are sorry for the frustration with the firmware error and your charging schedule. Our engineers are currently working on a fix for the update issue.
The scheduling problem likely happened because the charger was in "Plug and Charge" mode rather than "App Mode." When "Plug and Charge" is active, the unit starts charging as soon as it is plugged in, which overrides any schedules you have set in the app. This is why the charge continued even after you removed your schedules.
We are looking into adding a clearer warning in the app to prevent this confusion for other users. If you need a hand adjusting your settings, please contact our technical support team (details in the app).

This new charger replaced the original which Sync EV did free of charge, which was most unusual.  A free upgrade m? Unheard of.  Not as visually attractive as the one it replaced but hi ho.  If it works as well as the old one I shall be happy.

Charger just not charging today, both our cars need charging and this ain’t working, their tech support is worse than useless and only open short hours mon-fri, no good to me on a Saturday.
Bring back the old charger and app, that was flawless

I have been using this app for a few weeks and it functions well so far.
What would be useful is to be able to have the ability to set more than one scheduled charge time as with some tariffs there are more than one off peak slot in the 24 hours.
I just have to remember to go into the app at the allotted time and manually turn the charger on and off if I need more charge.
